Registration may assist with the vote rigging exercise. Over 241,000 unknown persons of Ghanaian origin overseas were allowed to register and voted in election 2012.

Why should we register? What is in it for us? Our embassies do not cater for our welfare. They claim they have no funds. Yet, over 30,000 passports are issued to Ghanaians in London every year, minimum cost starting from £110 or more if express service is required. They charge exorbitant fees for visa and consular service in exchange for shoddy services and time wasting. If they want to tax condoms, they can go ahead. They should leave Ghanaians abroad in peace. Those lavish Independence Day celebrations should be curtailed. We are a poor country.

Why should we send money home for projects that the Government is responsible for such as clinics, water or schools? We have difficult jobs trying to support our families in the diaspora, families and friends in Ghana, alumni, tribal unions, etc. In the UK several Ghanaians are stressed out working multiple jobs. Several are dying from stress related illness and the suicide rates are on the increase. Time to say "enough is enough".

The pressure from our folks back home is too much. They should learn to fend for themselves and stop the hand out mentality.

Consular staff need training in customer services. Most of the missions have staff who look down on Ghanaians whenever they visit their premises creating tensions and even discouraging Ghanaians from using their services.
