There is something called DIPLOMACY and that is what De Klerk came to do.He came to massage the ego of Nana Akufo Addo and to make him feel good. Indeed what Nana Addo did was nothing extraordinary. He went to court saying the court should make a determination of his election petition. He knew there were two things that could happen. That is for a determination to be made in his favour or against him. Indeed he could not do so on his own and that was the reason for which he went to court. Just as he would have expected others to agree with the verdict if he were declared a winner, so will he have to abide by the verdict of the supreme court. There have been much talks about review and all the other ugly noises. Reviews are not like the ordinary appeals. There should be the existence of exceptional circumstances to justify the need for review. It is not the mere appeal of saying I do not agree and so I will have to appeal. With the Supreme Court reviews, the first threshold to cross is the issue of exceptional circumstances. What are the exceptional circumstances that the NPP can cite of the present judgement which could be legally impugned. Of course there was the beauty when Nana Akufo Addo came out and publicly indicated his accptance of the verdict. Yes he could have resorted to violence, but that being illegal and criminal, he would have been adequatelly dealt with as any other common criminal. The Praise Singing is becoming too much and that is what is getting into the heads of mavericks like Sir John to be making some of these outrageous utterances. Nana would have made a wise decision not to pursue or drag the election issues but that does not make him any exceptional person. Please give us a nreak!!!

At least for the first time in NDC's history they did not show their barbaric acts during elections. Even Mandela when the white gov't used force against the defenseless blacks, he and the ANC adopted the militant approach as they came to train in Nigeria. He refused to renounce violence against the apartheid regime and was sentenced to jail. Please get your facts right before you infect us with your shallow and shameless propaganda.

"He's a handsome man that's why I voted for him"

"He's tall, and has personality"

"He speaks nicely"

"I like the way he is"

If many voters have this kind of mindset, which is shy from issues, what kind of leadership we end up getting? A friend of mine recently argued that MANY Ghanaians don't qualify to vote, because they vote without considering ISSUES. I agreed with him!!!

The live telecast has indeed exposed our electoral systems for it's inefficiencies and the need to strengthen all aspects of the processes and has really dealt a massive credibility blow to the very core, the very foundation, the very basis of the legitimacy of the John Mahama presidency. Reforms are a must and the EC should be seen to be championing this cause and taking the lead boldly, to unearth opportunities through which positive and constructive steps can be taken to reform the system, strengthen it and make it answerable and accountable to the masses.
