Mr. Cudjoe was of the view that selection of the venue by the Danquah Institute indicates that British Council is held in high esteem by the political think tank.

Anybody who sees it the way IMANI sees it doesn't appreciate the REAL ISSUES here or is on the WRONG side of the Issue.

Listen to some of the things Gabby says or writes. Consider this Shaky-Truce period when Gabby continues to pounce on the Supreme Court Judges.

Gabby even wrote an artcle on Sept 11 in which he suggested that Justice Baffoe-Bonnie's brother is, after the Verdict, the 'Darling Boy of Govt' and clearly implied a Reward for how Justice Baffoe-Bonnie voted.

And generally, the unguarded manner in which Gabby speaks must not be ignored or pretentiously glossed over.

Gabby's Platform is one that most, if not all well meaning institutions, including the British Council, will want to stay away from at this time.

Mr. Cudjoe, what the British Council has done is about the same as the Americans did with their Petition Ruling warning to Americans in Ghana.

The Americans were telling their people to not go look for trouble and the British Council is saying 'Please, don't bring trouble to our Door Step'. What's wrong with that?

You see, the British and the Americans do understand and know what is politics and will continue to support a genuine effort in deepening it, but to suugest that the British Council must allow its Premises to be used by an Extreme Group whose Leader seems to have mentally crashed after the verdict is most unfortunate.

This is most troubling considering where you stand.

On a more serious note, in my opinion, there are so many places in Ghana that the DI could have approached to use their premises for such an occasion. The question is; what were they trying to achieve by holding this event at British Council?

This was what Danquah (on CIA payroll) was doing In the 50’s and 60’s. Its cry baby cry and as always playing the victim. But like folks say: Like father; like son. These nation wreckers are at it again. They lose a petition at the Supreme Court and yet they would not give us space to breathe after holding the whole nation ransom for an entire nine months. After swearing swore that the battle is the Lord’s and that they would admit the SC ruling; the opposite is happening now. They go about inviting their apartheid friend De Klerk and holding symposiums to convert their defeat into a winner. This is exactly what they did in the 50's and 60's. The NLM/UP/PP/PFP/NPP fraternities are sore losers and lawless bunch. They are whiners and behave like kids in the kindergarten.

Though it is very unfortunate that BC refused DI's request, it appears from Mr Cudjoe's e-mail that he is naive. The west have only interests and they act to serve only their interests. In the PNDC days, the British wanted Rawlings out of power but not today. The British and western governments believe that President Mahama won the December 2012 Presidential elections and would not do anything that is contrary to that. Again, once the SC had decided, British institutions would not want to be associated with an organisation that seeks to challenge that judgement or bring the judiciary into disrepute. This is politics.

I am surprised by the reason for the refusal and I wonder if Gabby's recent attacks on the Judiciary could be smokescreen for the rejection.

You are right. The West knows best how this ultimate game of convenience is played. The British Council is aware of the real goal behind the DI's reason to organize the Symposium which is to torpedo the SC verdict on the electoral impasse.

The BC knows how delicate the situation is even after the verdict, especially the stand of the DI boss, Gabby, on the SC decision. It therefore does not want to be part of any attempt to undermine our Democracy even it does not like NDC. The process of adjudication did not in anyway lend itself to undemocratic ploys. And the British do not want to be seen as having betrayed the very system they have been strongly preaching to us to adopt .

It is obvious why the DI chose the BC venue and not another with less political implications. Yet, the DI would deny the ulterior motive behind that choice of venue.

He has rained insults on the respected age-old Council because the Council has refused permission for his Institute to use its facility to foster its 'politically biased' symposium. Like the Party(NPP) which it emits policies to, Imani is susceptible to refusal. Any defeat throws a tantrum from either one. Like father, like son; they're both bad losers! It's an innate behaviour in Danquah-Busiah tradition.

As if to say policies are stagnant and can't change with time, the IMANI Ghana boss quickly referred to the british council hosting of Prof. Adu Boahen's lecture at the same facility years back. This guy in my opinion should rather be ashamed of himself for his biase and dishonest way of approaching every subject under discussion in Ghana.

Why must the Danquah Institute rely on a foreign organisation (British Council) to provide a Ghanaian Institute with free accommodation, free electricity and other free utilities to do whatever they like?. British Council (BC) is not a Ghana Government organisation. They do not meddle in local African political matters. If Mr Gabby Otchere Darko wants to hold a political meeting or debate organised by the Danquah Institute why not go to J B Danquah's place of birth in Akwapim traditional area; and why not at Gabby Otchere Darko's house or Akuffo Addo's house or even President Kuffuour's house?.
Anyway, I have followed every debate on the subject matter of NPP losing the court case. There is no point going on and on and on. Gabby lost the arguments with Amaliba, Nana Ato Dadzie and Alex Segbefia. What different points of arguments does Gabby have that we do not know already?. Does Gabby want to stand as a Flag Bearer of the NPP at 2016 general elections?. Gabby, please give us a break and do not implicate the British Council in the rigged elections of December,2012.

I have always known that these NPP guys are village academics very much inexperienced and amateurish in all that they do. Put better why should the BDI be moving heaven and earth; doing everything possible to align itself with the British. Even the biggest fool in Ghana knows that the BDI is one and the same NPP. Please know your country and always remember her history, It is one thing organising troops of cleaners to parade No 10 Downing Street and a completely different thing to link the BC with ideological thought of a partisan think tank. Permitting any organisation to use the premise even though their activities have political connotations will indeed be irresponsible on the part of the British council. They have learnt lessons from previous events such as the Prof Adu Boahen's Culture of Silence lecture under PNDC. why repeat a similar mistake as if they are incapable of learning from their past. Besides, the Adu Boahen’s lecture occurred at the time when PNDC, an elected undemocratic government was in power. The British visibly abhorred non-democratic governance were therefore part of the campaign to institute constitutional rule under a democratic dispensation in Ghana. That cannot be said of President Mahama’s NDC government. They were constitutionally elected and passed the legal test by winning their election by vote and in court. It would have been against the principles of democracy that the British hold so dearly to permit the Danquah institute to hold what is clearly a political activity aimed at discrediting the democratically elected NDC government and the Electoral commission who were subjected to a due legal process and summarily endorsed.
The British council must draw a line somewhere between the common good and political ‘rascalism’.
I support the British council 100%. It would be been in bad faith to allow a clearly peeved and disgruntled and loud-mouthed Gabby Ochere Darko and his friends to hijack such a reputable institution such as the British Council. Gabby has to get used to losing because there is another whipping coming up in 2016.

Please refer to the comments from Kweku Boateng and Earl Jones and you will probably begin to accept the fact that the DI is a farce, not a think tank at all or is living in great slumber. The position of the group is neither cognisant with nor mindful of modern Ghanaian socio-political expectations. My concern is not about this trivial issue of using the premises of the BC per se. Of course the DI could have got an alternative venue alright and they know that very well. However, their interest is not about just having a 'venue'. They wanted to ALIGN themselves with the British for wider recognition which on the contrary could have exposed the BC and the British government in duplicity and sabotage. For instance, they would have been criticised world-wide for being insensitive to Ghana’s security needs which in effect could have compromised the job of the BHC. What for? Why all these by-force and aggressive manoeuvres? These twits should get it down their skulls that Ghana is an independent country and all people especially academics should aspire to the highest and balanced political thought and maturity. This Dankwa-Busia group should wake up and rather offer constructive options or alternatives to Ghanaian political life and expectation. They should stop wasting everybody’s time.

This is simple Common Sense as the name implies.British Council is foreign entity and therefore would not like to offer it's auditorium for any political discourse,irrespective of whether it's for good intentions or not.In other words they would not want to associate themselves or the use of their facilities for any political reasons.
