The fact that this accident happened at a Police Barrier is irrelevant, probably even part of the cause of the accident. What do the Police do at these senseless barriers? Ask for money from drivers! That's it. So, what happens? An approaching driver must get his money ready to be given to the policemen. This is a distraction and is not any safer that taking a call on a mobile phone while driving. Beyond armed robbers, Ghana is not under any type of security threat for which PNDC-type barriers should be mounted on highways, often without appropriate highway warnings. I do not see the use of these barriers. No armed robber has ever been arrested at any of these barriers? Keep police mobile and ready for these armed robbers rather than putting them at barriers to be harassing innocent citizens.
