How could the president and his vice vacate their seats simultaneously when there is no emergency? How could they have planned their trips outside the country to happen at the same time?
If there is this provision in the constitution to swear in a replacement so easily, then why should we waste money on a permanent vice president?

What I understand about the whole issue is, before the Speaker of Parliament can assume the post, there should be an emergency in which the president and his vice are both incapacitated. For example, the president is dead and the vice is bedridden or something but this is not the case so, what is the meaning of the speaker assuming the post of the presidency?

This absolutely stupid and it will happen only in a nation where commonsense is hanging on the planet Jupiter.

The provision in the constitution was set to operate in case of extreme emergency, or unintended incapacitation of the President and the vice president; it was not set to allow the two leaders to plan uncoordinated trips leaving behind a vacuum.

The president must be admonished for such stupidity!!!

I remember one time during Kuffour's era, the speaker of parliament- Mr Sakyi-Hughes was sworn in amid all the gallantry that goes with a presidential swearing in ceremony. Why are we then acting as if Ghana is about to go in flames. My concern about this whole brouhaha is the irresponsible posture presented to us by the current leadership. There are serious issues bedeviling our country, so we need to "smack" our leaders to sit up, roll up their sleeves, get dirty and get the job done. The good question is; Does the average Ghanaian know what to expect of their leaders vis-a-vis the constitution ? Probably not. We have a very long way to go my friend, so brace yourself otherwise you will always be angry.

What is the important official duty that the VP cannot wait for two or three days for the president to return before leaving for London? Does the president have to travel for installation of Mali's newly elected President? This is not political maturity. There is no emergency reason for both leaders to leave Ghana at the same time. Please plan your travel in advance.
