Most of these refugees are originally former members to one or more militant sharia & jihadist terrorist organisations which are having a very strong links with Al-Qaeda.

What has Ghana done to attract an Al ShabbaB attack? Prof Bluwey is secretly wishing for disater for Ghana simply because his darling NPP lost elections and a petition in court. Muslims, Christians and other faiths live happily together in Ghana. Unlike in other countries there is no religious discrimintion in Ghana. Muslims occupy all the positions they are qualified for, even Governments sponsor Muslim activities such as Hajj and some festivals. Ghana has no peacekeepers in Somalia, the basis for Al Shabab attacks on Uganda and Kenya. Even Sierra Leone which has troops there is not being threatened. Prof Bluwey, stop sounding false alarm bells and death wishes, you could do some reasearch on Al Shabab grievances and advise Ghanaians accordingly. Meanwhile my advice is that the politics of ethnic/religious marginalization and intolerance should never gain a foothold in this country, whether in parties or within govt, and we should watch our public pronouncements and condemnations of others who we don't share the same faith with.

As a professor, he owed readers a responsibility not just to sound alarm bells which anyone can do, but to give an insight as well as suggestions to avoid an attack by Al Shabbab like I have done in my posting above. Yes, Al Shabab or any terrorist group go in for easy targets,buf if they succeed with high profile targets it serves their purpose even better. BUT they always choose a country . It is not a random ick. Such a country is known to be in their way or harming their interest. Also remeber that other groups can copy their modus operandi if the objective conditions exist. That is why I am advising religious tolerance and non discrimination in the country. Ghana is doing very well in this direction, which is why Prof Bluwey's real motives are being questioned by those who know him. He is simply not credible.

Because of the civil war in that country, Al Shabbab, an Islamist group is fighting the govt of Somalia and any other country helping it, including Uganda and Kenya. Kenya went into Somalia nd succeeded in pushing away Al Shabab from the habour town of Kismayu and other strong holds, and are presently still occupying those areas. This is the main problem that has resulted in attacks by Al Shabab in Kenya and Uganda. How can Ghana prevent this from happening here. This is the discussion the learned Prof Bluwet ought to provoke not simply sounding alarm bells which any one can do. He has proven from his past positions to be wishing evil on Ghana if only to punish the NDC govt which he hates so much.

They have consistently only managed to make a mockery of academia and what it means to be an intellectual.

This Bluwey chap it seems, is totally ignorant of the circumstances that triggered this attack otherwise he could not have made such a dumb statement which amounts to inciting the militants to also consider attacking our country Ghana.

Fortunately there are no existing reasons on the ground here in Ghana to attract the ire of militant moslems. In spite of all the corruption, ineptitude and foolishness of the so-called political elite, they have not yet sunk to the levels that would instigate any kind of violence as has just happened in Kenya, in Ghana.

Those militants have had a long running feud with the govt of Kenya and this recent attack has been only the most recent in a string of other even more lethal attacks which the militants say are in retaliation for similar attacks by Kenyan troops against their members in East Africa.

Of the almost 40 million Kenyan population, about 5 million are Moslems. Kenya itself can therefore be reckoned as a country with a considerably large Muslim population. This should therefore inform us that the on-going conflict cannot be solved the American way - in other words, by reverse terrorism, which has not only exacerbated or worsened conflict situations all over the world, but has evidently also failed to resolve them.

Unfortunately those in leadership positions in Kenya today, President Kenyatta and his Vice, Ruto are even more guilty of inciting ethnic terrorism on their own people leading to thousands of deaths which makes the on-going carnage seem like a comedy. I personally find it difficult to figure out where they will muster the moral conscience from, to deal with the culprits of this lesser carnage.

Another serious problem which we are faced with in Ghana is that we are under siege from a monumentally ignorant, lazy, good for nothing media that do nothing but pick up one-sided prejudiced news reports from the global imperialist media and foist it upon us.

I cannot understand why in this global information age of unlimited possibilities, our media personnel and institutions cannot source their own international news or at the very least, research for more politically balanced news items to present to the Ghanaian public.

I cannot forgive them for their gross under-performance which has led to the the misinformation of the Ghanaian public on sensitive global issues such as this.

This has led to the kind of silly emotional outbursts such as what some contributors have posted in reaction to this article.

If anyone is reading this piece s/he should take it very very serious. Those who know Wa, the regional capital of the Upper West Region know a suburb called Kambalipani which joins Kpaguri where the Upland Hotel and St. Francis Xavier Minor seminary are located. As you turn from the road leading to the Regional Minister's residence and begin to head towards the Upland Hotel there is a mosque to your left recently built by some Iranians. There are two Iranian preachers there who call on the youth each morning during dawn prayers to join the fight against "infidels" who are waging "a crusade" against Islam. These clerics are daily radicalizing the youth of that mosque who parade the area with their long beards. I am appealing to the security services to check these radical clerics before we get the Kenya type of incident on our hands in Ghana. Muslims and Christians are intermarried and have co-existed in the Upper West Region for generations but these foreign Imams are sowing seeds of discord between us. They also consider all other Muslim denominations like the Ahammaddya as "infidels" who must be eliminated. Please someone must act now or else we will one day say "had we known" but that will be too late.

Even at the airports, we do know that they are some travelers, that the immigration has no knowledge of them entering the country and this is because fyi some travelers get picked up from the tarmac, so avoid going through immigration. This practice need to STOP. Accountability has to be demanded yes to ensure all these measures are practiced. The recent gold fiasco seized at Turkey, the head of security arrested for drugs at NY are all indications of the lapses at our airport... Yep Yep, we need to put politics aside and tackle these issues with full vigor.......
