As we express our shock and pour in our condolences to the family of Prof Awoonor about his trgic death, Ghana and for that matter Africa must now wake up, unite and fight these emerging trends of attacks that are entirely taking magnificent wave on the continent. That means Nigeria should not stand Boko Haram alone, so are Kenya, Mali, etc who are for sometime now going through these attacks are somehow left alone to deal with without unified share of intelligence and other resources from other state that could help. Now, gradually these attacks are trickling down to the unknown and entirely into virgin areas we may never expect, how is Ghana prepared to avoid similar incident at home?

I'm sitting in my office this morning and accessing the online library catalogue of the university where I work, for the works of Prof Awoonor, and they are numerous- the popular one being the novel- "This Earth my Brother..." (In fact I have this book sitting on my desk right now). A colleague, who is a native of this country, just rushed to my office this morning and asked, "Nkrumah, tell me, is it that great intellectual (poet), Kofi Awoonor, whose works I studied in African literature at my undergraduate who has passed away"?
