My dear friend Kofi Atah of Cambridge, UK asked the same question about Dr. Bawumia, comparing then his knowledge of Ghana's electoral processes to that of Asiedu Nketia. He had indicated that Dr. Bawumia did not display on the witness stand any knowledge at all of the electoral processes. Now I know why. Secondly, I had written just after the SC judgement that I thought the NPP did not seek the correct reliefs in their petition. I thought asking the Court to invalidate about 4 million votes to make Nana Akufo-Addo president was a bit too much. Now Arthur K. seems to be asking questions about the reliefs sought before the SC. I am not saying he is agreeing with me, but some of us thought the NPP shot itself in the foot then.

Finally, why is it that NPP wins consistently only two regions?(I know they won more than 2 regions in 2000 and 2008) The party should look for answers to this question if they want to win the presidency in the future.

knowing the climate in the NPP, Arthur is going to be called names, but to save the party, NPP's serious members MUST reflect seriously on the questions posed by Arthur K. I am not holding my breath though.

We applaud the level of effort that went into the election campaign of the NPP, with Akufo Addo as the flagbearer. In identifying with Arthur Kennedy's position, it's clear that, there needs to be that bitter and painful introspection, to first and foremost, deal with the issues that thwarted Akufo Addo's bid at the presidency for a second term. The NPP cannot go ahead and elect a flag-bearer without dealing with the issues first. Besides such an absurd proposition is against the very letter and spirit of the NPP constitution. The present leadership should avail themselves for the necessary criticism, and they should accept it wholeheartedly, with a view to improve upon their chances of persecuting any agenda in the party, should they ever be given the opportunity again. Any attempt to foist Akufo Addo on the NPP and Ghanaians after this loss, would spell the doom for the NPP. He may be popular amongst a section of the NPP fraternity and if the figures from the elections are anything to go by, NPP needs to be bold and deal with the canker, that is hindering the party from assuming the reins of gov't convincingly, to bring the needed expertise to transform the fortunes of the country, which is currently in the pits, under the mismanagement and looting of the national purse by the Mahama-Amissah Arthur administration.

This is an intelligent analysis which could enhance the future of our party NPP if only and I repeat only people like Jake Obetsebi -Lamptey, Nana Akufo-Addo, owusu afriyie, awuku, Adorfo, Osarfo Maafo, Garby Otchere Darko and co would first step down from their party positions and offices to allow seriously minded and committed NPPians to mve the party forward and to win the next election. I can see Arthur Kennedy's point about not 'rushing to elect' a new presidential candidate. However I believe it is dangerous for the NPP not to have an active leader directing the affairs of the party and providing strategic leadership to the elected officers.

It seems like a 'chicken and egg' situation but to me it is dangerous not to have a de facto leader at this point as the last flag bearer is taking a sabbatical. The leadership vacuum created partly accounts for the irresponsible actions and performances of some of the elected officials in the party at the moment.

The NPP seriously needs a WORKING AND EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP with someone at the helm at whose door 'the buck stops'. If they fail to find such a leader early enough to start addressing the serious failings of the party, they are in danger of not doing well at the next elections. Time is not on their side (they have 3, not 4 years to go).

My only support for Arthur Kennedy here is for the party to make sure that they take the necessary rigorous steps to carefully vet, shortlist and identify leadership at the hierarchy of the party which would be electable and represent a broad church of the nation.

The flagbearer chosen will be critical to their electoral fortunes. My advice to the NPP is to painstakingly address this process as URGENT, on the understanding that Nana Akufo Addo, should NOT be considered in this process because I believe he has gone far enough with Ghanaians and with his failing health, I doubt if he would be able to mount any serious electoral challenge in 2016.

NPP supporters may disagree with me, but I offer this advice for free, only interested in the welfare of the party and the health of Ghanaian politics. I hope they will take heed, and that Arthur Kennedy's suggestions though sensible, will be set aside as it is not the best solution to their current (and future) challenges.

We, in Ghana and Africa are still too hung up on our old loyalties to the detriment of sober and objective analysis for progress. All I can say to the Dr. is not to give up the good fight.
