I would like to see Kabila's address to the UN if he has one. Why should president Mahama spend so much time talking about terrorism when a country such as Kenya has a representative to discuss the issue. Terrorism has many parents. One of them is youth unemployment; others are poverty, illiteracy; ignorance and diseases. President Mahama addressed aspects of these, and included proposed solutions. I am not sure why Kabila failed to capture these insights following President Mahama's speech.

How could he blame Ghana's economic woes on the petitioners case? If he did not steal votes, the case would not have been sent to the court. And since the UN itself was watching it with their own eyes, they knew exactly what went on during the elections. Mahama is a thief and must be hanged and then be given the firing squad. All leaders who spoke at the UN focussed in international issues; not local, national propaganda issues. The UN platform is not an election campaign platform for domestic politics.

It is a shame the speech writers and the president have not impressed anyone.

Most of the comments on ghanaweb demonstrate the sad state of literacy of the Ghanaian population. It appears majority who write here, lack basic reading, writing, analytic and objective skills.

The perception is that of a generation of people who have been fed a diet of propaganda, racist, tribalist and ethnocentric ideas for the past 25 years to the extent that every single issue is discussed only through party, racist and tribalist eyes.

This was not the case when I was growing up under Nkrumah's years in power as a leader. We were made to think we were Africans first then Ghanaians. Tribe was relegated to the bottom with its negative connotations.

Today our leaders of all parties and their followers are doing nothing to quench this evil tribal flame which can destroy a nation (Rwanda) and the tribal inflammation has again reared its ugly head and the propagandists are having a field day with it.

The population of Ghana need to be re educated through reading, etiquette and civility (manners) for all these have gone to the dogs.

On the part of Mills, he bored the world leaders with PURELY domestic issues like so called "Schools Under Trees", a topic which has no place at the UN gathering. As a professor, he should have known better. Now Mahama continued this form where his boss left and talked about "Youth Employment".

I feel sorry for Ghana: Why have Ghanaians settled for mediocrity and retrogression?
