I am now convinced that we, the NPP, did not even win the election. Simple and short. Let us not swallow hook line and sinker the inward-looking propaganda of our leaders. Whilst the NDC uses propaganda to capture power during national elections, in the NPP our champagne-popping cigar-smoking leaders have mastered the art of lting their own party faithful and rigging to sail though primaries but when it comes to national elections they are found wanted. Ask your self, did our candidate extend his campaign in 2012 to the Volta, Upper East and Upper West Regions or just concentrated on a few towns in the remaining regions, relying on media hype to do the rest. In a country of 70% rural dwellers media hype has a diminishing role in elections, their is no substitute for organisational effectiveness and grassroots feedback.

Our party chairman is about to introduce the most dictatorial amendment to the NPP constitution, just for the 2016 elections, as if he already knows who will be or must be the candidate. The warped winner-takes-all logic underlying the proposed amendment is that if the Presidential candidate is elelcted first, those who dont support his candidature can all go to hell. The Presidential candidate takes over the party structures from national, regional, constituency to polling station, and ward level (including party affiliated organs) so that he can prosecute the election as he pleases with any hindrance. Is that a democracy. What then happens when he wins with such a divided party?. Of course the logic is that he will continue to work with "only those he can work with". In effect the party is no longer a collective association of persons with a common philosophy and goal. Why should provisions be made for those who out of their own character flaws cannot reconcile and unit their political parties to capture power. Such infantile arguments should not be entertained after so much struggle to bring about democratic governance. Is this what we fought against the Rawlings Dictatorship for, i.e. just to finally introduce our own farcical iron-clad rule over political parties, make and mockery of time-honoured principles and label our selves "democrats, patriots and intellectuals". A sad day it will be when Chairman Jake reads out the proposal at the National Council meeting of all places.

I am patiently waiting for the open rebellion that will sparked off by the actual implementation of Jake's proposed "Winner-Takes-All" amendment to the NPP constitution at all levels of the part. First will be the fight amongst those who intend to benefit fully from the amendments. And next those who are unable to qualify as "friends and associates" of the Presidential candidate will also rebel, break away, go independent or simply undermine the candidates. The party members who bear the brunt of the inability to elected new leaders of their choice or reject those that do not suit their fancy will also have only two options, vote skirt and blouse, or if you don't like the fabric don't vote at all. Better still vote NDC to kick your frenemies back into opposition agian, for they will be more harmful with "Winner-Takes-All" attitude in government.

Bravo, our leaders and intellectuals by one stroke of the pen, have plotted the path for us to stay in opposition another 8 years without even ballot cast internally.

How many of the candidate's inner circles have built and warmed their new masions with the candidate in attendance; how many of the candidates close aids were caught steal campaign funds in their custody; how many of them have taken personal custody of vehciles, motor-bikes and articles for the campaign and hoarded them for the up coming primaris, how many of the candidates close relatives collected huge amounts running into millions of USD to set up election monitoring databases that did not work on election day, how many of a candidates close advisors collect money for the media that does not get there. If you answer yes to all these questions, and can find one or two such culprits still speak for or even idling around your candidate then you should no that with such poor management, accountability and integrity skills they person cannot led a cocktail party let alone a political party successfully to battle without takashi. NPP needs to consider a lot of factors and make a very good choice going into 2016. Nana Addo may be popular in the NPP, and now in the country, but for exactly what reasons? We need to put that in it's right perspective and debate the issues.
NPP cannot be talking about popularity when there's an opposition party very much well versed in the very concept of propaganda, breathes, lives and thrives on propaganda, and is very much well able and capable of twisting facts especially when it comes to Nana Addo.
NPP needs to start thinking from the angle of the NDC and weigh their choice very carefully if they want to make inroads in 2016 and capture the presidency, after all the other factors which constrained the machinery of the party in 2012, have been taken into consideration.

You guys should give way to some of the little used and experienced new breed of fighters that can deliver from the grassroots. It's the same old stories of " I'm a founding member " that can't deliver even their family votes, but just brag about what was and not what is as of now.
