Everybody who has eyes to see can attest to the fact that Ghana’s downward spiral and retrogression began with the notorious 1966 coup with a disgruntled few who could not match Kwame Nkrumah at the polls and therefore resorted to oust a democratically elected government through force / a coup. The 1966 coup was a huge/colossal error in the annals of Ghanaian history which set us a century back. It is abundantly clear that the 1966 coup arrested our economical and industrial development. If not for the damn 1966 coup we will be at par with the likes of South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore etc. The Axioms (ideas and ideals) and works of Nkrumah ( Tema Township with modern habour and industries, motorway and dual railway connection, ring road, five state of the art hotels like City(K’si), Altantic /T’adi) Meridian ( Tema) Star and Continental hotels (Accra), Aboaso glass factory, Shoe and leather factory, Jute factory both near Kumasi, Komenda sugar factory, Tarkwa rbber plantation for tyre production, Takoradi Boatyard, estates housing in all regions., Peduase, o host of state farms strategically placed within the perimeters of Ghana which supplied the factories like Nsawam Canary with raw materials to name a few are a living testimony to what this great son of Africa did impressively achieve. And yes Kwame Nkrumah is the founder of modern Ghana.Period! No two ways about it.

It is plain truth that the SYDP was brought to a halt with Busia’s red pen because that dwarf Kofi Busia has a dwarf horizon or vision. Busia was intellectually and otherwise dwarfed by Nkrumah myriad times so he has to destroy everything Nkrumah to show his hate or distaste for Nkrumah. Busia could not wait on his self imposed and simulated life threatening exile to come and enjoy the Akosombo dam electricity which he was vehemently against. The Akosombo dam was inaugurated in late January 1966; the bloody infamous coup took place on February 24th 1966 and Busia arrived in March to become the advisor of the NLC. Busia in his own words” The Akosombo dam is too big a project for a small country like Ghana”. Bui dam which is now in progress would have been completed in 1970-72. Today more than 50 years on the Akosombo still remains our major source of energy with over 1000 megawatts whilst the modern Bui has only 400 megawatts to offer. This shows the unlimited vision of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. The AU erstwhile OAU and NAM among others is his brain child. Is there vision wise and development any highest bidder than Kwame Nkrumah on the African continent? The answer still remains no almost 50 years later.

All the 69 SOE’s Nkrumah left behind with exception of a few like TOR; Tema Steeel works have been all left to perish before our very eyes (Black Star line, Ghana Airways, GNTC, STC, Jute factory etc). Even though it is all plain to see that Ghana started to head south with the adventurous 1966 coup which set precedent for further coups ; only the knuckle draggers and shitkickers from the nation wreckers Mate Mehu affiliated party are still in a constant state of denial.

These disgraceful Mate Mehu knaves who boycotted our independence have no shame to make claims that the British left us 200 million pounds after over 100 years of colonial rule but forget that they left us with no single factory. The British left Ghana in a ramshackle state for Kwame Nkrumah to start the building of Ghana from the scratch. Education and health programs have to hit the ground running. Nkrumah had to start building of institutions like Bank of Ghana, Ghana commercial Bank, State insurance Company, Social security, Ghana National Trading company (GNTC), Ghana News Agency, Ghana film industry, Ghana Air force and Navy, two universities, Ghana medical school and nursing centers and numerous schools. Not to mention to Akosombo which Ghana footed 39 million pounds, Tematownship and harbor with dry docks, espansion of Takoradi harbor as well as 69 plus factories and SOE’s. Can these “I put it to you” pocket lawyers do simple arithmetic? These whole projects cost more than 200 million pounds.

Let it be known to these blockheads that the money the British left was money accrued from 1951-1957 when Nkrumah was leader of a caretaker government. The British squandered our moneys during the World War II and were totally broke that they the British and the rest of Europe which were lying in debris had to be bailed out or rescued by the Marshal plan in the 1950’s. The British didn’t leave us any money; as if the gold, cocoas and other mineral resources was on their land. No, they rather robbed us for over a century without accounting for it. That is the naked truth in Gandhi’s quotation i.e. nor does truth become error because nobody sees it.

Nkrumah Lives! We still face forward. Long live Maame/Daavi Ghana in economic Freedom and social Justice.

For all my writings on the net about Nkrumah´s brilliant achievement in Ghana is exactly what you have put it down here. The hatred U.p had for Nkrumah and that resulted his overthrown has brought Ghana to this far. And as Nkrumah himself said in Exile, He said Ghana will take touch light to look for me, but in most cases they willn´t find me. When Tema township was built, water was running through all homes, bath, toillet and kitchen just like in advance countries, today look at Tema, the entire city is totally destroyed, starting from Meridien Hotel and others. I have been saying that one day, Ghana will walk to Burkina Fasso to fetch water. Those who were responsible for Ghana´s down fall is the criminals and the terrorist who overthrown Nkrumah´s government, and who were they, Danquah-Busia-Obetsebi Lamptey-Baffour Akoto-Dombo and co-horts. These terrorist brought Ghana to total destruction.

When I read stupid comments from these "kookooase akrakyefo" of the Danquah Institute of Mate Meho People who are trying their best to discredit Nkrumah and re-write the history of Ghana, I blame not only them but the whole nation of Ghana for allowing ourselves to be fooled by these clueless individuals who claim they came to restore "true freedom", whatever that means to the people of Ghana.

From 1951 to 1961, in a period of 10 years, the Nkrumah led Gold Coast administration had achieved more than in the whole almost 100 year period of British colonial rule. The fools are talking about 200 million pounds sterling.

Listen to this:
Primary schools in the Gold Coast which had a total of only 154,360 students in 1951 had increased to 481,500 students by 1961.

Middle schools with a total enrollment of 66,175 in 1951 had increased to 160,000 by 1961.

Secondary and technical schools with only a total nationwide enrollment of 3,559 in 1951, had increased to 19143 by 1961.

Teacher Training Colleges with a total enrollment of 1,916 in 1951, had increased to 4,552 by 1961.

And the worst of it all, University enrollment of only 208 students had increased to 1204 students, an unheard of increase of a whopping 478.8 percent.

When Nkrumah became Leader of Government Business, equivalent to Prime Minister, his government gave top priority to the building of schools in the governments development plans. From 1951 Nkrumah took the unprecedented step in Africa of making all education free, from primary to university level. In addition, textbooks were supplied free to all pupils in primary, middle and secondary schools.
All these achievements were in addition to the improvements in basic Healthcare services, Transport and Communications and electricity, water services.

In 1962, the party, CPP, adopted what was known as the "Program of Work and Happiness". Can anyone one imagine that? Work and Happiness!

Oh Ghana chose to follow the devil not the Messiah, now look at us, we are all going directly the wrong way. We are going directly to hell.

Just for the record. By 1966, there was a jute factgory in Kumasi, a shoe factory in Kumasi, oil mills in Tamale, sugar factories in eastern and central regions, uncompleted gold refinery in the western region, and plans to construct FOUR hydro dams at Bui, Juale, Herman in the Western region and the numerous factories in Tema including one that could lead to the construction of dozens of flats a month.

This is because rich people can pay to get whatever they need and poor people because they cannot pay do not get the service they deserve in our various offices. If we Ghanaians will decide not bribe anyone to access the service we deserve I hope corruption will be minimized then from there we will deal with government. Let us all stop pay bribe for what we are entitled to. For instance if not parent will pay bribe for his/her relatve to be addmited into a particular institution, do you think the head of the institution will be I did not get bride so no child will be addmited? Two further comments, one of the comments posted said when Ghana gained independence the books were in good shape, absolutely correct. We have systemically ruined this country with poor leadership year on year since then.

Finally our politics shape our views ang the first 6 comments is symptomatic of the polarised ideology of blame and always looking backwards instead of forwards.

Until we can attract new thinkers into politics whom can break the cycle of current politics where Ghanaians blindly follow second rate thinking without challenging why are our livelihoods not improving, then you get what you get, more of the same backward leadership....

So, let's analyze and come up with some hard questions:

(1) Can a non-visionary leader be made visionary? If so, how? Through training? Through listening to motivational speeches?

(2) If visionary leaders cannot be made and are only born, what should we do? Wait for how long, 500 years?

(3) If a visionary leader is already born and is somewhere out there, how do we discover such a person? How does one tell if someone is visionary? Through campaign promises? Through past speeches? According to past performance? For instance, when Nkrumah was being brought in from overseas, did Ako Adjei KNOW he would be visionary? How did he determine that?

(4) Let's suppose for a moment it is elections time. The four parties, GGG, HHH, MMM, and TTT have had their congresses and have chosen their presidential candidates. Let's also suppose parties GGG and HHH are the two major parties, and parties MMM and TTT are very minor ones (usually getting less than 1% of the votes).
Now, lets further assume we know how to identify a potential visionary leader, and we find that this seemingly-visionary candidate is with party TTT. How can we get such a person to become the president, knowing very well he is not going to get the votes?

(5) Or, let's suppose the major party GGG has a visionary leader, but EVERYBODY else in the party appears visionless and has less-than-desirable qualities. Can we still wish for that candidate to become the president?

Of course, these questions might be rather simplistic or unrealistic, but the question remains: HOW DO WE GET A VISIONARY LEADER TO BE IN CHARGE OF GHANA?
That is the question that should engage our minds all the time.

This is the biggest of all blunders in Ghana. Why can't we see the embarrassment associated with it. i find it difficult to explain to my friends from other African countries the reason why it is so. If we brag about Ghana being the gate way to Africa and then you arrive there, and the first thing you see is a big sign KOTOKA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT is very embarrassing. The NDC and the NPP have ruined the nation........and this does not take
a rocket scientist to explain to Ghanaians. The evidence is there for all to see.

Charles is absolutely right! But apart from them being self-centred and vision-less; the powers that be in the West, are also in bed with our so-called leaders and controlling them/ our development through the orchestrations of the IMF and the World Bank.

If that wasn't the case, how on earth can we, a nation like Ghana sitting on some of the world's richest natural resources and claim to be poor? And them sign up to be a Highly Indebted Poor Country (HIPC)..................
That is not only stupid but, deliberate on the part of our so-called leaders with no VISION!!!!!!!

I can assure you that if we think very carefully through the ways and means our nation and most African nations... in terms of the sales of our rich natural resources and the interests we pay on loans issued to us............
Then in my opinion we are the ones actually PAYING to keep the developed world going. (Please think deeply about this; I will leave the nitty-gritty for another day).

NKRUMAH always warned us of the 'hidden hands' in our world and here we are, so called democracies which demonized communists/socialists have now taken the same mantle of communists/socialists attitudes of running their nations - in the name of terrorism. The have created the feer in their own citizens in order to dictate to and control them, just the communist/socialist worlds did......

And we call ourselves a democracy????
We are always being dictated to, by the West......even to the extent of how much we are allowed to sell our own natural resources. What a shame!

In Ghana, the people are poor but the land is rich. Why is this the case? It's not as if the land is sitting there idle. The land is being exploited minute by minute, hour by hour yet the people continue to remain poor. It is so obvious. The proceeds is being pocketed by a small fraternity or somebody somewhere is stealing it OR somebody womewher is syphoning it using his cronies or someone or a group local or international faces are actually flying their long hands into the state kitty and milking it, diverting the funds which should have gone to tackle poverty. Those doing this are known. You see them in the streets of Ghana and Europe and in the corridors of power all the time. And the characters cut across the political divide and the multinational adventurers. This situation also pertains to almost everywhere on the continent. Unless we have a leader who can identify these problems and do something about it, We are all going to struggle to survive in the midst of abundant riches.

Built good schools with good science facilities then imported good science teachers from Britain USA and Canada to teach their cgildren, whilst Kwame Nkrumah with bunch of money at hand was using our money to help other African countries to fight the white man for their indepence. Kwame Nkrumah vision has made Ghana what it is today. After Nkrumah came Dr Busia who spend only 23 months in office. Compare Busia work to Nkrumah and judge yourself. Look at those who says they came to continue Nkrumah's vision and those who took Busia vision and you will know which vision is the best.

The money we had at the time of independence was acquire from 1951 to 1957 when Nkrumah became a leader of the Government business, the British had no monef for us, for they have used all our resources fighting in the second world war and in India.
