Moyo, I can understand what you are saying but can’t agree with you 100%, with all respect. As much as we all expect the FDA to protect the citizenry we must also expect fairness and Justice (which unfortunately can never be found in our dear nation). Hon. Moyo, this Opuni man is very arrogant, vindictive and unfair. If you don't talk his political language you are against him, Period. I had to close down my business (sacked 15 employees and asked them to go to Opuni for jobs).That's why I hate politics.NPP, NDC, PPP and others none of them puts roof on top of my head neither do they put food on my table. Thank God I don't have to deal with Opuni's arrogance again. I am enjoying my retirement with my Grand kids now.
I don't know the whole story between Tobinko and Opuni but as a former Cosmetic Products Agent for some Top European manufacturers I know how Opuni can be. I know that man personally. His arrogance earned him some beatings in Kumasi sometime ago. In one of my meetings with him I was very surprised the manner he talk to his assistant as if he was talking to his son. Wow! One needs to know Opuni. Academically he is good (and that make him feel as the most intelligent man on the earth), when it come to his field (As an orthopedic surgeon) the man will do the work and I wouldn't take that away from him BUT with the Kind of temper he has, coupled with his arrogance, Opuni will not survive long ....... Opuni is just not an administrator but I heard he pumped his money into politics so Egya Atta moved him from the operating room where he was saving lives to FDA where he is always fighting, even with women importers and manufacturers who refuse his sexual advances. Hmmm! Asem beba dabi!

Statutory bodies to carry out their mandate. Dr. Owusu Ampofo can raise an issue about the piecemeal nature in which the FDA is handling this particular case. But to call for the intervention of the MOH is preposterous. In any event, who is he to be making such a demand in the first place? In the initial release concerning this matter, the FDA did acknowledge that some members of their staff were under investigation,so what is this gentleman 'crowing' about, raising questions about how large quantitities of supposedly sub-standard drugs entered the market in this country. Is he a visitor from the planet Mars? Rather than question the motive of the FDA for taking such a firm stand now, we should be thankful that something concrete is being done to protect the health and safety of our citizens!

Let's even assume that FDB slept on the job which TOBINCO took advantage of and sneaked those fake drugs into the country, is Dr. Frimpong suggesting that after FDB has "awoken from their sleep" they (FDB) should just keep their mouths shut while innocent Ghanaians get killed slowly as a result of TOBINCO's criminality? If the drugs are indeed fake then we would all be dead before they woke from their sleep. They should all be sacked. Either for destroying a good coorporate indegeneous citizen or for allowing 'fake' drugs to be distributed throughout the country and mostly dispensed to Ghanaians

Am I the only one surprised at the clear declaration of incompetence by the FDA in admitting that an easily identifiable company which has operated in this country for many years and pays taxes into state coffers, was able to "smuggle" supposedly fake drugs into the country through the approved routes. I believe a thorough investigation into the matter is long overdue. Only God knows what else in our pharmacies and drug stores is unlicensed and may have negative effects on health care delivery. I recall the complaints made by some doctors concerning what they believed to be fake medication in circulation which were compromising their ability to treat their patients effectively. What happened to those responsible? The head of the FDA should spare us the unnecessary commentary and bow his head in shame. Give us a list of the supposedly fake medication, prosecute the importer as well as your agents at the ports who allowed these drugs in, reform the processes governing drug licensing and earn your salary. I'm sick and tired of hearing government appointees try to justify their failures (quit if you think you can't function effectively in the current environment, we the people will acknowledge that effort to make a difference). Stop playing tsakele with people's lives!

To date they are all at home. This was a strategy to entrench dictatorship in FDA. Nobody in that place, not even the acting Board chair can caution the CEO. Do business with FDA and you will be shocked at the level of arrogance and crudeness. Long live Ghana

We need the list of the 93 DRUGS/MEDICATION,that are not registered in Ghana,by the FDA,so everyone would know,what they are buying and taking in their system/body.
MAN'S LIFE IS NOT MANY,TO TAKE CHANCES ON SOME.WE HAVE ONLY ONE LIFE,AND CAN'T BE COMPROMISED WITH.
FDA should call SPADE,A SPADE,BUT NOT A SHOVEL.
FDA has to answer questions on how these huge volume of unregistered medications slipped through their cracks,to find its way in the government agency like THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH(GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS & CLINICS),PHARMACEUTICAL STORES ETC.
There has to be reforms,in the way, FAKE MEDICATIONS ARE TRACKED IN THE NATION,TO AVERT IMPENDING DOOM,IN THE HEALTH OF THE CITIZENRY.
TOBINCO'S BOSS has to be prosecuted and jailed,to use him as scapegoat,to other pharmacy companies,who import medications into the country.
If even,well authenticated/approved/sanitized medications have side effects,how can we be sure of FAKE ONES?

How did this individual obtain his PHD, if indeed that is what he is? Is he calling for for an investigation into a body mandated by law to do exactly what the FDA is doing? The man lacks both common sense

and academic sense. He is either in the pocket of TOBINCO or just an idiot. What needs to be done is for Tobinco to be prosecuted for knowingly selling fake drugs. Tobinco is a clear and present danger and it is a matter for all Ghanaians.
