The hypocrisy of the Western nations on this gay rights issue is sickening. I am a lawyer but I don't agree with the gay rights gospel. If we are to take this gay rights gospel to its logical conclusion, it simply means people HAVE A RIGHT to give free rein to their sexual passions as long as it is something done between two consenting adults. Hence, according to this weird gay rights gospel, it should not matter if the two consenting adults are of the same sex.

As a corollary to this sexual (i.e.gay) rights argument, people should have a right to choose who to marry even if their marriage partners are of the same sex, not so?

Ok, then the same logic would support the argument that I have the right to have as many simultaneous or concurrent sexual partners as possible any day, any time, as long as it is done between two consenting adults at each encounter, not so? And logically, the same argument can support my decision to tie the knot (i.e. marry) with as many of these my sexual partners as I want (of course, with the consent of each of them) so that we can continue enjoying our sexual rights as a collectivity, not so? However, the West calls this one polygamy, with its variant forms - polyandry and polygyny - and these are frowned upon by the West. What gives western nations the right to redefine people's values for them and to shroud these concepts as human rights issues?

Now, per their values as reflected in their legislation, the West frowns upon polygamy in all its forms and polygamy is seriously criminalized in all western countries whilst African countries recognize that time-honoured right to marry as many wives as one wants (as long as the wives willingly enter into such unions and are happy to stay there). In some countries other than the western countries, a woman can marry as many men as she wants to (and again, with the consent of each of these men) and it is called polyandry. The West, however, considers these sexual rights practices as barbaric or primitive behaviour whilst they see nothing primitive about a more abominable sexual rights issue: a person's right to copulate and even marry another person of the same sex. Gosh!!! If this is not hypocrisy, then by what name should we call it?

Nobody in Ghana is discriminating or attacking gay people. Gays have lived peacefully in Ghana since time in memorial. So why the need to promote gayism? There is no homo-phobic attacks in Ghana, so why the need to make something out of nothing????

If the US and most advanced countries feel gays have rights, so does Ghana but, we are NOT going to be drawn in on their crusade to legalize gay marriages and promote it in our schools. Hell no!

Forcing gays rights along with other demands that will not be of any interest to us w such as pay for primary and secondary education, pay higher and prohibitive tariffs on utilities is what donors/IMF will ask of us. In his native Argentina, same sex mmarriage law has created a more inclusive society where all loving relationships are now recognised by the State. In South Africa, traditional African weddings for gay Zulus pass with community support and local community business benefits through the wedding expenditures.

Clearly Ghana has nothing to lose and everything to gain in casting off the out-dated prohibitions that were created by Queen Victoria across the Commonwealth over 200 years ago. Ghana's leaders are showing the world it is also a modern, vibrant nation that embraces the diversity of all its citizens regardless of gender, race, faith or sexual orientation.
