Actually, Mr Asante Boateng that is a useless and archaic system! What you need to do is implement truscan scanning like the Nigerians to prevent the concealment of medicines in containers at the port. It is ridiculous and excuse me to say stupid to say you will track the medicine from the market after it has spread into homes and clinics. Please! This FDA is fighting with everybody. Why? Listen to advice. The PSGH can offer technical input into how you do your job. You cannot be a law unto yourself. Even the President consults when doing his job. Why do you think there is a council of state? You can't sit in your office and think you are the only ones in Ghana with the answers. It is clear that there are bad inefficiencies in your place. Admit it and get experts to help you and stop this takashi nonsense.

These three thing mentioned, there authencity of it is found in evidence( called dossiers of the drug) brought forward in the form of documents to the FDA. In any human institution they can forged ,that is why any where in the world Pharm companies are subjected to contonuous regular inspection of the product and something called pharmacovigilance-
To cut it long and short the scanning is notappropriate to uncover this ganagauatuan crime by Tobinco.
They are not the only companay found fallible,GSK ,PHISER ETC have beeen once or twice or several instances

What needs to be asked now is where did the banned drugs pass through. My understanding is that they came via the FDA agents. If that is the case, these agents should also be sanctioned.

Mr Ohene Kyei is very corrupt in his thinking and does not understand regulatory and inspection work of the FDA or any competent Authority work in the world. The aim of FDA is to protect the Public Health by so doing, not to compromise the Health of the people of Ghana and others.Any aunthorised or by false pretence or licensed obtain by deception when eith today or later discovered must be destroyed and the person or company puniished. In some country such as China it is punisghable by death depending the gravity of the non compliance and its impact.Croaks in the industry are very difficult to be caught that is why the directive called FMD 2011/62/EC was incoporated into Law.
Please so called Pharmaceutical society of Ghans spare us our hear from this crap.

Masa in business people do all manner of things to bring competitors down its up to you to make sure that you are not a victim of such traps. Now I worked with Macbells the producers of Keba shor ginger bitters and believe you me they were given that treatment in 2001-2002 when some of the competitors in the market imitated the booze and and people died. Macbells has never been the Macbells I know again today it has been reduced to making pure water which is even not paying off. I worked with Macbells as an accountant so know this. Now things happen business because you making the market more than your competitor is.I am not saying that FDA is fighting Tobinco for some one but I expected Tobinco from the very word go to start working with the authority not fighting it by so doing you would be emboldening them to further pursue you. Now I think that Tobinco sold themselves out when they themselves acknowledged the fact that they had brought in a medicine that has not been tested in India the country of Origin. They should have done something about it long agoe. Now what the President of PSGH is saying to does not hold water they all know this yet would not do it but would want to pay bribes that is it today the Bribe taker says he now has conscience so would no longer take bribes so please mr. President start doing your homework and lets get going. Else where you would even arrange for them to come to do all of this clinical testings but the average Ghanaian of late would want to just brandish certificates and not do what they are suppose to and when the authorities catches them you get all manner of people talking just what they feel suits them neglecting the welbeing of the Ghanaian enough is enough Tobinco PSGH do what is right you are loosing time and money do an internal audit and know where you have failed and pick yourselves up for better days ahead.

Good comment. The drugs have not been tested even at their place of production. They could be harmful to Ghanaians and need to be seized and held if not destroyed immediately. The FDA has done well.

A lot of the people posting all the rubbish on this forum work for that stupid Lartey guy. He comes on the platform under different names to make it sound as if FDA has support across the board, but anyone who listened to radio knows that fda is one of the least respected agencies in ghana today because of Opuni's ineptitude. How can you regulate medicines in a country like ghana but refuse to meet reps of the leading professional association in the country connected with medicines - PSGH???? How can you continue to regulate medicines in this country but refuse to talk to the center of pharmacovigilance that monitor the effect of counterfeiting on the human beings who take them? There is not a single stakeholder Opuni is not fighting. What a useless man. How can this arrogant man with zero understanding of medicine regulation be in charge of such an important organisation? He can use that Lartey fool- to post on internet till kingdom come. His game has ended. He wont be allowed to destroy the agency with this overbearing nonsense oo tom!!!! Fool-s posting under pseudonyms for foolis-h lartey.

I asked the other day and I want to ask again. I thought:
- Importation and/or product registration licenses were sought and approved first for each and every food and/or drug product before their importation into the country? If not then some things are being done in a backward fashion.
- That as part of the approval of such importation/registration licenses, submission of all relevant documents (dossier) plus samples of the intended food and/or drug product for full release testing, as per local government regulations, were a requirement regardless of availability of such test results in originating country? If not how would the consumer country’s regulatory body ascertain and/or confirm the purity, identity, strength, quality and efficacy of the product in question, as reported?
- The ports have on file a list of all food and/or drug products approved for importation into the country for clearing agents, standards board agents and FDA agents in particular, etc. to cross-check with before giving their stamps of approval?
If not then:
1. Individuals or corporations with the intent to import must be required to firstly obtain the “permission” (as in a license) to import any food and/or drug product.
2. Regulatory bodies mandated to enforce or oversee quality compliance must step up their operations (Quality Compliance/Assurance Labs, Bioequivalence Testing Labs, etc.) and bring to book any entity that violates the rules as well as fully exercise their authority to either accept or reject batches of products per established standard operating procedures.
3. Ghana’s FDA in collaboration with law enforcement agencies must be empowered to go after the smart ones (or “bad guys”) who will still manage to “bring them in” regardless of existing controls. Look, the underground economy has come to stay and is booming so understand where I’m coming from!

That is what happen when you put square pegs in round holes. Why would a medical officer be made the CEO of a very sensitive and technical body like the FDA when pharmacists (the custodians of drugs) are there if not for political reasons. And to those ignorant people praising FDA, why would FDA endorse illegality and come out to say that same thing is illegal if not populist reasons. Where were they when the drugs were being cleared at the port? Stupid and incompetent opuni is brain behind the numerous fake drugs in this country. What is FDA doing about the numerous fake drugs that are sold in buses and the open market. Why wont FDA go after those selling drugs in public buses and open markets?

The CEO of the FDA needs to resign in the face of the overwhelming evidence to conclusively conclude without any shred of doubt, that he is the very brain and mastermind behind the most stinking, corruption riddled institution in the country, where the health of the most vulnerable in our society - our children, infants and toddlers, could not prevent him from engaging in such corrupt and fraudulent practices, with the full backing and support of the office of the president. It is indeed pathetic and so criminally outrageous that, the CEO of the FDA, can sell his conscience to such crass levels, such that the death of children has no meaning and doesn't prick his conscience in the least bit, but he would seek to blame his wanton greed, his penchant for corruption and fraud, on secondary players. It is equally criminal that the President and his Vice, could support such corrupt actions on the part of the CEO of the FDA. The question on the lips of most Ghanaians both home and abroad is, how can the Mahama-Amissah Arthur administration be so insensitive, callous, greedy and can have the conviction to support such corruption? Ghana under this Mahama-Amissah Arthur administration has really setback the clock of progress and have sacrificed it on the altar of corruption, fraud, mismanagement, ineptness, incompetence, etc, etc and it is most revealing. The majority of Ghanaians are calling for an in-depth and thorough investigations into the rotten, stinking and unbridled corruption which the CEO of the FDA is presiding over, and whilst at it, they are calling on the CEO of the FDA to resign. They have lost confidence in his ability to preside over one of the bodies or institutions tasked with safeguarding the health and wellbeing of the masses.
