Anyone in Ghana or in the Diaspora with a brain the size of a grain of sand would and should have known Ghana was heading towards a failed nation status. Dr. Bawumia did not predict this; it has been long coming because the signs were all over in the financial reports on Ghana from reputable financial magazines since 1998. If Western European nations the likes of Italy, Spain, Greece, Ireland, and all the other nations that Ghana had borrowed from are going bankrupt because of their refusal to limit government expenditures while their citizens failed to pay their fair share of taxes why would anyone in Ghana, a nation of beggars and even bigger thieves think we would fare any better?
Ex-President Kufour sold national lands, sold Ghana Telecom, bankrupted Ghana Airways and sold off its assets while his cabinet members including Nana Akufo-Addo engaged in verbal contracts that have caused Ghana millions in judgment debt payment. The NDC under the late Atta Mills and now John Mahama took off from where the NPP bunch under Kufour left off- While the Kuour bunch specialized in destroying all footprints pointing to their mass stealing the brain dead NDC clowns engaged in the in-your-face street level stealing and are proud of it. The one thing that was supposed to generate some kind of long lasting revenue to the nation, oil, got sold off under Kufour giving the EO group a three (3) percent lifetime payments of oil revenues not to mention an ex-gratia for all the crooks out of Ghana's parliament who continue to draw money from national coffers for being low life thieves.
It is only a bunch of people with minimal brain activities in Ghana who would pitch NDC against NPP or vice versa. Ghana's woes have been on the scene since 1988. There has never been a time in Ghana's sorry history since 1966, when civil servants had received their monthly wages and salaries on time, on schedule and continuous for a period of two years. Yes people with power do get paid but the rest are left to eat crap because there have never been accountable leaders here at home in Ghana and or in the Diaspora who identify themselves as Ghanaians. The footprint of a successful Ghanaian, with few exceptions, is stealing, bribery and corruption. Dr. Bawumia did not predict anything that the late Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder could not see coming.
While Dr. Bawumia was a school boy in Canada did he ever recall seeing politicians who lived in paid bungalows with utilities paid for, transportation paid for, mileage allowances paid for care tax payers all the while picking up paychecks each month that is more than twice the average worker/civil servant paycheck? Dr. Bawumia like anyone of us saw it coming because he worked at the Bank of Ghana where he was the Paymaster-in-chief providing the money that paid all the fat thieving mice and cats we call politicians in Ghana.

Stop your nonsense about Ghana Telecom, a company that was losing money yearly. Rawlings sold 30% of GT for 45 million cedis four years before Kuffour sold 75% of that company for 950 million dollars after buying back the 30% Rawlings has literally given away for free for 45 million for $110 million.

Kuffour administration steered our economy on the right path as our economy during his eight years rule increased four fold from a 3.8 billion economy to 17.8 billion which was rebased in 2009 to 42 billion. Loans for businesses were available, inflation was reduced from 43% to 18%, interest rate was reduced from 39% to 25%. Every economic statistics were positive during Kuffour's administration as compared to the previous Rawlings 20 years mismanagement of our economy making Ghana a HIPC country.

Mills and Mahama in 5 years have destroyed the economic gains from Kuffour's administration.

Even a child in every country, not only in Ghana could see and predict the downfall economic activities around us. So what is so unique about what Dr Bawumiah said?

The New Crusading Guide unfortunately lives in a hide out perhaps, in a dark hole somewhere in Ghana so the paper is not aware or exposed to the rest of the world to read from other papers or aware of the commentaries, debates on radios, internet, forums, and credible international and domestic media. The current state of the economy has little to do with borrowing.

It has to do with a combination of factors including the implementation of the single spine salary scheme which has increased the public sector wage bill. There has also been a shortfall of national revenue, a direct result of the economic slowdown occasioned by the power cuts and water shortage earlier this year, strikes and the electoral dispute. The situation has been compounded by the freezing of foreign aid as donors awaited the outcome of the dispute. The depreciation of the cedi in the past year has made imports more expensive.

There is nothing wrong with borrowing to invest in economic development projects. As the economy grows, loans can be paid off. It is a moot point that the World Bank has acknowledged the loans acquired by this administration have gone into development projects.

Bawumia's analysis is quite wrong. He could not even interprete correctly single digit inflation, suggesting erroneously that lower inflation meant prices should fall.

Bawumia should leave well alone.

The factors that caused our economy to be what it is today is not a strange thing that Bawumia only could visualised. Every educated Ghanaian who shows interest in the state of our national economy could similary predict what has become a special prediction that has been attributed to Bawumia.

In real terms, there is not anything special if one is well matured in this area of studies. At this point I rather see Bawumia as an hypocrate, coward and a tribal inferiority complex man who could have advised Kufour against his introduction of the single spine salary structure SSS when he Kufour was almost to leave office, and he was aware that the national economy was not prepared to handle his introduced SSS. The question of the intelligent person will be where will the monies for the increasing of the salaries of the public sector workers come from, when it is clear to him Bawumia that the government spends 74% percent of the collected national revenue on our public sector workers.

Now the next question would be what can the 26% percent do to help balance our economy in a positive way. Just think of the judgement debts of the many robberies of the nation's wealth of the Waterville case in which Kufour caused Ghana to pay Waterville 35 MLIION EUROS and also the duping of Ghana by Wayome's using of the same Waterville to grab 25 MILLION EUROS, totalling 60 million euros, not dollars. Not even mentioning the drill ship deals and others like ISOFOTON and more that are to come.

I see Bawumia as a cheap guy in the sense that he was already aware of the negative factors and occurences that had been wrongly introduced by his master Kufour in the economy, of which in the future will born crisis, then how come his prediction. One will never say a woman will born when it is evidently clear that the woman in question is already pregnant.

Bawumia was aware of the donors concerns about the toll that our country's ENERGY CRISIS had on our national economy as well as effect of the high budget deficit of 12% percent. In my opinion if Bawumia is really a good expert in the area of his studies then he might have seen that since Kufour never left our economy in credit but in deficit, then he Bawumia who is claiming to have made good prediction could have with his love for Ghana had been in the open to tell the whole Ghanaians that Kufour's introduction of the single spine salary structure SSS could in the future harm our economy. This is where I can say he Bawumia has made a good prediction, but not when he is aware that the SSS system introduced could disturb the economy then he will keep mute in acceptance of the SSS then later he starts crying wolf that the economy will crash to score village level of political points so that in the eyes of many less educated Ghanaians he could be seen as and I quote ''Bawumia's predictions come alive''.
