New Juaben stool is the junior stool of the Juaben-Asante state.During the Dwaben-Kumasi war the whole Dwaben population migrated to their present area in New Dwaben, until they returned back home to Asante-Dwaben. Will you also say the people of Worawora, who are pure Asante-Oyoko royals and part of the Asante Oyoko division, are no more Asantes for the mere fact being situated in the Volta region? Will you say Tikurom (Otikurom) is no more part of Asumegya for the mere fact, that it is situated in Kumasi? Will you say Adako-Jachie is no more under Nsuta for the mere fact, that its within Kumasi area? In Akan custom allegiance to a stool or state/place is not bound by where one resides, was born or raised. Even the first Asantehene King Osei Tutu was from Kokofu.

He used the Juaben hene excuse of Killing a young man who saw nana juaben hene's wife nakedness when bathing on the journey back to Asante. He fought Jauaben and juaben had to come to the Akyems to buy land to settle the current day place in Koforidua. So please for the fact they are related does not make him owe allegiance to him. Infact, the Asikwahene who is also the nifahene of the Great Akyem Kingdom and married even the greatest woman warrior of Ghana history Nanan Ohema Dokuaa was also oyoko and related to the asantehene. Juabenhene and Kuntenasehene retrieved the Golden stool on the battlefield at Akatamanso were the Asantehene Osei Yaw Akoto cowardly ran away. Juabens already had land there i.e. Asante-Kyem, Kwahu etc. Koforidua was just one out of many places were they settled down. It were the British who made the Juabens to settle down in Koforidua. They never intended to stay there permanently.

a. On their return from the Akatamanso War Dwabenhene Nana Kwasi Boateng was accused of keeping a large sum of gold dust that the enemies had captured with the stool. After Nana Kwasi Boateng had denied knowledge of the gold dust, the Asantehene Nana Osei Yaw Akoto became suspicious about the integrity of the Dwabenhene and could not trust him any longer.
b. The second incident was that a native of Kubease called Asumin mistakenly saw one of Nana Kwasi Boateng's wives naked whilst taken her bath. The Dwabenhene asked for Asumin but he bolted away to seek refuge in Kumase. After making several requests for Asumin, the Dwabenhene was made to promise that he would not kill the culprit and so the Asantehene Nana Osei Yaw Akoto handed Asumin over to him but Nana Kwasi Boateng did not keep his promise and killed Asumin. The Asantehene was furious and so he subsequently waged war at Dwaben. Dwaben lost the war and so the entire population left and bought a piece of land from Okyehene Ofori Panin in the Akyem area and named it Kofi Ofori Dua or New Dwaben.
Infact Asante was a matter of necessity to fight against the Denkyira's and not because of relations mattter.That Asante was not created as a matter of tribe but rather as a matter of necessity, to form a formidable force to fight Denkyira, hence "Osa-nti" meaning because of War. The original word was Osa-Nti-fo.So please i still say they don't own allegaince to the golden stool. If you care to know,check history that after Otumfuo Prempeh was brought back from Sychelles Island the people or kings that came to pledge allegiance to the golden stool if there was anyone from new juaben.

That part of the Volta and Northern Regions were part of the Trans-Volta Togoland and some other Ga tribes/clans own allegiance to the Ewes and other Dangme groups?. Are you therefore, telling me that the Togolese should now claim ownership of part of Volta and Northen Ghana or Denkyeras to claim part of Ga State simply because they have allegiances with some groups of Ga people who have lived in Ghana over many, many years?. If your postulate is to be considered then the Dutch and Romans(Italians)e.g should be claiming sovereignty of UK, where you now live and abode.

I think you assertion is rather intellectually lazy and typical of the old school. There is no argument about the relationship between the 2 brothers-New and old Juabens. But you know that the New Juabens moved and settled as an individually group many miles at different locations in Eastern Region of Ghana many years ago and have since established their existence, self rule, status and authority in Koforidua, in the Eastern Region of Ghana during the nomadic period where, tribes and clans tried to find settlements whereby, battles, serious social conflicts and survival of the strongest/fittest group were common experiences or order of the days.
Don't forget the Asantes were not really a united clan neither until Okomfo Anokye from Awuku Gua, (Akwamu) in the Akwapem, Eastern Region amalgamated the remnant Akan groups to form what is now the 'Asante'.- Remember the Golden Stool and it's Ananse story'? So are you telling me that the Akwamus should now claim authority over the Asanteman?

Nana Bawuah, we were all told tales or oral history by our parents, grand and great grand parents or relatives when we were young. But as we grow up and become more aware about our existence and environments and who we are, we should question our history and environment intelligently and should be able to dismiss or reject some of these unintelligent stories We rather challenge the status quo by more research, debates, forums and conferences on our history to establish the facts of the stories/history by our relatives which in many cases meant to satisfy their own egos, superiority over other groups, false physical or military prowess or imposed status and authority i.e trying to be important or significant!!!!.

The Krontihene, Nana Baffour Nyantekyi Tutu Boateng is absolutely right. The people of New Juaben migrated and have settled in their new Environment in Koforidua-Eastern Region over a period of many centuries and they deserve to be left alone to continue managing their own affairs. They may owe allegiance to the Asantes just as the Commonwealth Countries owe some allegiance to Britain but the Queen does not owe Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Liberia, India, Pakistan, Jamaica Trinidad etc. Allegiance is simply a relationship of respect, mutuality, commonalities, cordiality and common understanding. Nana Bawuah, allegiance does not mean over-lording or claiming ownership of ones sovereignty or geographical territory. Akuapem were subjects to the Akwamus, the Akuapem state only came into existence, when they teamed up with the Kyerepongs, Gas, Akyem-Abuakwas and many other tribes in order to defeat their overlord the Akwamus. Asante is neither a tribe nor a clan! Asante is an Akan state. The tribe we belong to is called Akan. The clan, which is leading Asante is called "Adako-Oyoko clan".

Absolute nonesense! There are Asante states in Ivory Coast and Togo such as Asante-Adako-Baule Kingdom, which owns land in Ghana as well. Asantehene himself owns land in Ivory Coast and Togo. The Woraworahene in the Volta region is part of the Oyoko division in Asanteman, should he also withdraw his allegiance to the Golden Stool for the mere fact being situated in the Volta region for many centuries? Should my family at Adako-Jachie one of the major divisional rulers of Nsuta state withdraw their allegiance to the Nsuta state, because they are situated far away from Nsuta (Kumasi area) for many centuries? Isn't it sad for people like you who cannot make and unmake a king to say that you have distooled a Paramount Chief of a Traditional Area.
