  Kofi, you're confused - with respect. The list of registered drugs is a publication alright, yes. But a list of registered drugs on the FDA website at a particular time doesn't mean any/every other drug on the market which isn't on the list is unregistered or fake. The list of registered drugs on the site is a list of newly registered drugs. This list is updated from time to time - as new drugs are registered into the system. THERE IS NO LIST OF UNREGISTERED DRUGS ON THE FDA SITE! So I don't where Kofi and the GNA and peacefmonline would've gotten a list of unregistered drugs from. Quite clearly, the people at the FDA are better-educated than Kofi.
  
  The FDA are serious-minded people doing their best to protect the Ghanaian public from greedy drug companies and the foreign criminals they are in cahoots with. Alongside the profit of Ghanaians who go into the drugs business must be the health of the Ghanaian public - as a concern. Long gone are the days when the (then) FDB was under party orders to do the bidding of particular individuals and certain drug businesses in Ghana. Dr Stephen Opuni wouldn't do the bidding of the NDC if that bidding was to compromise the health of Ghanaians by softening regulations for some manufacturers and importers. Dr Opuni is an upright, hardworking man who deserves recognition for a job well done at the FDA. In the putrid stench of the morass of poor stewardship, inept leadership and unforgivably corrupt management at the helm of our ministries, department, agencies and parastatals, Dr Opuni's leadership of the FDA is a breath of sweetscented jasmine fragranced fresh air. So what that Stephen Opuni is disciplined hard man. The purpose of the orthopaedic surgeon's presence at the FDA is to protect the ordinary Ghanaian from killing himself with a counterfeit drug or fake drugs. In doing that job well, Stephen Opuni prevents a death which would otherwise go to enrich some
  weasel who's already richer than 98% of Ghanaians.

  the leading financiers of the President Mills’ extravagant campaign to retain his position as NDC flagbearer for the 2012 polls in the upcoming congress in Sunyani, a pressure group in Kumasi with affiliations to the NDC has alleged.
  
  The NDC Youth With Conviction of Principle (YWCP) also speculated that Dr. Opuni is supervising the evasion at the FBD where he is the boss and is diverting these state monies to the Mills campaign which is estimated to worth about GH 90 million.
  
  “NDC Youth With Conviction of Principle (YWCP) investigations reveal that there is a connection between the evasion of tariffs through the FDB and the GH ¢90m campaign funds projected by President Mills’ campaign team,” YWCP alleged.
  
  They added that “we found out that Dr. Stephen Opuni, the man at the helm of affairs at the FDB, a close associate of Ato Ahwoi who is ‘shadow president’ of Ghana is clearly aware and is part of these schemes to divert these funds for the Atta Mills campaign purpose in Ashanti where Dr. Stephen Opuni is facilitating the transfer of funds believed to be a part of the GH 90m budget.”
  
  New Crusading Guide Newspaper on May 25 published a front page story captioned ‘Secret Warehouse Uncovered! FDB Impounds Unregistered Food and Denies Harassing Owner’
  
  In the story a man named only as Haissan was arrested by a combined team of personnel from the FDB, Ghana police service and the Ghana Revenue Authority for hauling large quantities of food and drugs into five secret warehouses in the country (some of the warehouses are in Kumasi) without paying the requisite tariffs and duties due government.
  
  NDC Youth With Conviction of Principle (YWCP) alleged “not long after his arrest, there are machinations to cover-up the case and get Mr. Haissan off the hook. The question many are asking is why officials of the FDB would be scheming to get this man off the hook of the law when he has openly and clearly committed an offense that requires him to face the law?”
  
  YWCP investigations also reveal that Dr. Stephen Opuni is afraid to be implicated when this Haissan man is held to answer, thus, his attempt to cover up with the help of his sponsors in the Mills team.
  
  “According to our sources, this company and many others have been donating their ‘tariffs and duties’ to the campaign funds of G.A.M.E. those whose thinking was that President Mills could not raise such amount of money for his campaign can now understand the subtle methods being employed by the G.A.M.E to by all means win a primary election in which Atta Mills is obviously trailing in real opinion polls.”
  
  NDC Youth With Conviction of Principle (YWCP) decried the use of “such illegal ways of acquiring campaign funds, especially when such funds are being used to corrupt our democratic process as a party.”
  
  They called on Dr. Stephen Opuni to come clean on this rot in the FDB, adding “we also demand that President Mills orders immediate investigations into the illegal activities at the FDB and bring Dr. Opuni to book with the same alacrity with which he requested an investigation into the allegation of GH ¢90m for his campaign by Mr. Herbert Mensah, a friend of the NDC founder Jerry Rawlingses.”
  
  NDC Youth With Conviction of Principle (YWCP) ended with another demand to “GAME a stop their entire machination to burn the will of the NDC people at the July congress through money influence,” and urged for a campaign free of undue influence as well as hook and crook means from the President Mills’ camp.
  
  In a related development, efforts by peacefmonline.com to reach Dr. Opuni for his side of the story proved futile. Several calls to his phone went unanswered and text messages sent to him explaining why peacefmonline.com wants to talk to him have been ignored.

I can`t remember the last time I visited that portal,but I do recall reading embarrassing material that had been culled from the Daily Guide,that made very little sense! In addition,the stories put together by their in-house staff was nothing to 'crow' about,frankly speaking. Full of grammatical errors of the worst kind, many of the reportages appeared as though they came from the archieves of the US supermarket tabloid,the National Enquirer! And to make matters worse, they have embarked on their own form of censorship wherein comments that appear to be critical of their way of doing things are blackened out. Funny these same people talk about freedom of speech and expression when their backs are against the wall.

HE WAS TRAINED TO GIVE TREATMENT AND PERFORM SURGERIES! NOT TO REGULATE.

  NO WHERE IN THE GNA'S publication did they state that the list of unregistered product were from FDA, hence i don't understand what FDA is dennying. what we need from FDA - OPUNI is whether the listed of drugs in that article are registered or not. if they claim they are registered then we are daring them to, as a matter of urgency publish the registration numbers and registration expiring dates of these drugs. until they that , FDA - OPUNI should know that Ghanaians are not stupid and can read between the lines. I REST MY CASE.

  We have said it time and again that, the CEO of the FDA is extremely corrupt, he lacks the training and the knowledge and the experience to head the said institution. Whether the list was released by the FDA or not, the fact still remains that, the CEO of the FDA, by his corrupt riddled and fueled actions, have put the lives of the most vulnerable in our society in harms way, he has continually exhibited a profound and humongous inadequacy in the varied aspects of drug regulation, stemming from the fact that, he's completely out of sorts, in respect of the professional competence to address such matters.
  Our position is that, the FDA because of the sensitivity of it's work, core mandate and purpose, which goes to the very core of the health and wellbeing of the citizenry, his tenure at the FDA in the light of recent happenings, is completely untenable and needs to be shown the exit. It's not one of the institutions for political gamesmanship, overbearingly nauseating and stinking corrupt practices all presided over by the CEO of the FDA - Dr. Stephen Opuni. Our contention is that, he needs to honourably resign or be forced out. Well meaning and right thinking Ghanaians would not sit down unconcerned for the FDA to be run down by the capricious and corrupt tendencies of the CEO at the expense of the health and well being of the generality of Ghanaians. The time for the Mahama-Amissah Arthur administration to act is now.

The point has been made that the CEO is not fit for the job, and I would urge you to commit yourself to some bit of work yourself to find out what is simmering under the rot which the CEO of the FDA is presiding over and you would have a rethink of your position.
