Sad he is comparing Ghana, still an agrainian economy, not even an industrial economy let alone a technological economies these countries are. These countries did not sit on their asses or tax their citizens to suicidal situations to get out of this mess.
Ghana's situation is unique in the sense that, we got ourselves in this mess by the stupidity of the SSSS policy which consumes 75% of government revenue thus leaving the government virtually nothing to undertake developmental projects after 15 to 20% interest payment on government loans. Mahama and his kakistocracy Ndc administration needs to trim the the expenses on wages and government workers will not accept pay reduction so what option he has is to reduce government Employees from the current 500,000 strong to about 250,000. Does he has the cojones to reduce the number of government workers from the President's office all the way to eliminating some Ministries like Information, Chieftancy, Telecommunication and others?

Ghana is currently experiencing economic growth rate between 5%-7% compared to so many Advanced economies struggling below 2% growth since 2008.Our growth is basically coming from oil,gold and cocoa production then some few services.Our socio-economic problem today is comes from the govt who is not helping the private sector which creates jobs and wealth to expand.Our enterprises are not competitive to attract the much need Foreign Direct Investment.In a Free Market Economy,it's not the govt that creates jobs but it has to frieendly environment for private enterprises to be competitive.Unfortunately,Prez Mahama has taken the opposite direction, closing down private business with high taxes and complicated laws to stifle local entrepreneurs.If govt cripples the private sector it brings the economy on its kneels.It does not make any economic sense to ban imported used fridges and tyres.Even the Advanced economies still use second hand goods.If Prez Mahama wants to alleviate poverty then he has to review his antibusiness policies.High Unrealistic Taxes drive away business and capital,thus create negative socio-economic impact.Prez Maham should not follow the Rawlings style of governance but apply the good business strategy of J.A.Kuffour.Prez Mahama has to open up business and I am sure we can all help in our small ways.Thank you.

Like in United States, the Government publicly announces the total jobs it creates monthly in public and private sectors which economic pundits debate about to know either the economy is in right direction or not.
You are absolutely right that this NDC Administration is not Business friendly. The father of the party (JJ) was/is against free market and also have animosity against rich individuals hence he publicly spoke to the nation not to buy Appiah-Menka's products during his administration. Is this nation building? This has come to be the core of NDC idealogy and illiterates would not be able to decipher about it and with tribal politics around this time, we will live in this situation for long.
I will add that the Finance Minister - Mr. Terkper is one person who is tax proponent. Have you ever heard him talking about job creation? I know this fine gentleman but the job is not for him. In the Bible, we have been told of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, where all forms of sins were committed, but the sins, that caused the wrath of God to be unleashed on the city, killing any and everything in it was the sin of the flesh.
Under the Presidency of the Mahama-Amissah Arthur administration, John Mahama has taken it upon himself to make Ghana and by extension, Africa, the homosexual "El Dorado" of the world, with the active participation f his Vice. No where in our history, have we had a President, who has literally made the issue of gayism, the centerpiece of his administration, like the Mahama-Amissah Arthur administration. In the heat of the debate, when the UK gov't issued an edict to tie aid to gayism, his predecessor was emphatic about his stance and his abhorrence of the act. The word of God says we should not use his name in vain, unless his people turn away from their evil ways and shun the trappings of power and a decadent lifestyle, this NDC gov't would fail. Mahama as leader, has turned his party into (in the words of a high court judge) a PLANNING, LOOTING AND SHARING BRIGADE AND everyone can see that through Woyome, (party financier), Waterville, Isotofon (led by a government minister, Okudzeto Ablakwa, to take a legal case out of court for settlement, on behalf of a private company against Ghana) which was proven later that Ghana did not owe them.
This is the same man (Ablakwa) who Mahama has appointed minister of education?? Nothing makes sense with this NDC leadership. He gives the impression that there is no other talent in Ghana for the position of head of education. MAHAMA HAS DELIBERATELY LOST THE PLOT FOR POLITICAL CONVENIENCE. Japan, for example, went through war, experience atomic bombs, wiped out cities, but they came out strong by implementing policies that included everyone and they came out as a superpower.
Ghana has not seen any wars we can talk of; any total destruction since independence. Instead we were handed over a foreign exchange reserve of 500 million GBP at 1957 prices; and what have we done with it?
For the past 4 years along we have borrowed 4.6 billion dollars as against 8 billion from 1957 to 2008 and what do we show for it? Woyome, Isotofon, Gyeeda, Waterville, STX monies lost, Akomfem monies lost, Tree Planting monies lost and there is no accountability; and you want to compare UK, USA, Japan with Ghana??
There is a modicum of the rule of law in those countries; in Ghana criminals and political crooks get promoted from the job they have been found wanting to another (Look at Barton Oduro, for example,Ablakwa O.) rather sacking those who uphold the law (Martin Amidu)

The solution is not further endurance but proper accountability to the people how do we get this far and don't our ministers sojourn in Ghana and do not see the reality that borrowing and higher interest rate is what is killing the economy coupled with economic team that had no clue how to fix this economy. Far better economic models to emulate include debt-free countries like China and many other far eastern countries.
