The blame for Keta's neglect and demise lies with the first finance minister under the Nkrumah regime.

I don't think should the Volta Region secede from Ghana one day, Keta would join the secession because the whole of southern Volta Region DID NOT take part in the 1956 plebiscite as that portion was not part of German/British Togoland.

First of all, let me say that I don't share the concern of this man about Tema losing revenue to the new harbour in Lome. I am pretty sure the Togolese didn't build their new harbour with an eye on Tema Harbour, even though Lome has for a long time been a free port or entrepôt to the sub-region, with much of the goods going to Nigeria. Of course, Ghana gets its fair share in legally imported and smuggled goods alike.

Anyway, the sub-region needs more ports in order to engender competition, better services, less corruption and thereby reduce the cost of doing business through the ports in the ECOWAS countries. I therefore welcome the new port in Lome as a boon. With the anticipated increased in trade W. Africa, esp. in Nigeria, it is an exx in foresight to build that new port. We in the VR also hope to benefit from it in many ways. After all, the land of Lome belong to the people of Aflao!

But then, coming to the Keta Harbour, I haven't been particularly happy with the so-called private sector BOP arrangement some are trying to get the Koreans to build it while Chinese loan is being secured to build other port projects. All the same, when or if it is built whichever way, in conjunction of the Eastern Corridor Road, it'd offer the cheapest and fastest way to transport goods from the coast to Burkina Faso. Even goods from the Togo harbour shall be transported on that road to Burkina. The Keta harbour shld therefore be built asap!

Dr Kwame Nkrumah foresaw during his time in government that Ghana would not stagnate, developmentally, so he made provision for Tema harbour expansion to hold the anticipated trade, hence he reserved the land which has been sold now for the purpose. Little did he know that that land would be sold to private developers after his demise. What a visionless government?

Togo port has been all along cheaper to do business with than Ghana port,but we did not learn nothing or ready to be competitive,we continued to be high in cost all because the roads leading the landlocked nations to Togo are bad, but they not going to be bad all the time. In fact Togo has embarked on massive road construction and that will be even bigger game changer.

I can hardly understand why a parcel of land at the TEMA PORT,has to be given to another company,whilst it is needed badly to offset congestion at the port.
IF WE DON'T USE OUR BRAINS SO FAST AND ADEQUATELY,OTHERS WILL ALWAYS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OUR VULNERABILITY,IGNORANCE AND STUPIDITY,TO MAKE IT,AND MAKE IT REALLY BIG.
Ghana has started drilling OIL.
NIGERIA started it more than 40 years ago.
The FRENCH COUNTRIES,who also have some,have relaxed now,waiting for GHANA'S OIL CAPACITY EXTINCTION,before they start theirs.
