I reserve the right as a citizen of Ghana to protect and defend my honour and integrity should this civilized challenge for the truth be ignored.

This is not the price I should be made to pay by the Government of Ghana for defending the Constitution of Ghana in the Waterville and Isofoton unconstitutional payments declared by the Supreme Court.

Brigadier General Nunoo Mensah over the weekend rebuked organised labour for their incessant strike threats saying they should “get out of the country" if they cannot bear the current economic hardship.

But a release issued and signed by Perry Okudzeto, Acting Director of Communications for the NPP Monday noted, per his comments, Gen. Nunoo Mensah has exhibited to all, his incompetence in advising both Presidents Mills and Mahama on national security matters.

I happen to think that the old General should be allowed to speak his mind. After all, he was donating something to the community. Even if he got carried away, there is something to be said for his generosity.

I am of the view that those who insult the General must first look for the laws and read them. Utility bills are not part of the proposals that the unions presented to government, thus can not be grounds for any strike. In any case if the state as an employer is to pay utility bills as negotiated between a union and the state, it is what the utility companies charge. The employer has thus not refused to pay the utility bill of the employer, if that is enshrined in a collective agreement.

In the ministry, workers go to work only to sit and get paid for showing up. Twenty people do a job that in technological time could be done just by the click of a button. So the have the time to devise all sorts of corrupt measures. The time for the change has come. Political parties and some groups of people should be very careful about what they say concerning the matters affecting the State. They should ask themselves if what they are saying or doing can help the country to grow. No one can win a cheap political points by plotting evil against the very people he/she wants to lead. Why should they be mad at what the honourable general said? Those who do not work should not eat. Saint Paul advised that everyone should go on working quietly to deserve the bread they eat. If you are on strike, on which moral ground should you be paid? Should the government pay you for your laziness which you hang on the strike or your evil mind or just operating ignorantly on the demand of a particular political party? What have you produced to deserve a salary? There should not be any payment for the striking workers. This is clear. Many people in the country see a particular political party under all these strikes. What is the political lineage of these striking forces? Which political party is backing the striking forces? If no political party is backing them then why should some group of people be mad at the renowned General? How can the country go on if all are going on strike? The majority of Ghanaian population is not happy with this strikes which resulted in the death of many people. This happened when doctors went on strike. It is fresh in the memory of all Ghanaians. It is fresh in the heart of those who lost their loved ones due to insensitivity of our doctors backed by some political parties. The irony of the whole strike saga is that the President advised that they should give him some time to resolve the whole issue. Why should they go on striking again? Why can't they respect the President? Is it because he is from the North? Are the Northerners not human beings? Who thinks he is superior to anybody in Ghana? There is no tribe who can pronounce superiority in Ghana. All Ghanaians are equal. Anybody can be elected as president. That is why the political parties who are promoting this strike to convince the Ghanaians to vote for them in the next election should be very careful. Ghanaians know that some group of people are supporting evil plans and negative attitudes to prevent the ruling government from delivering his mandate for the people. They should not think that Ghanaians would vote for them if they continue to promote and support an evil efforts of the striking forces. Ghanaians are now asking themselves about what those parties can do for the state. There is always a black spot on an old tiger skin no many how long it stayed in the desert under a strong scorching sun and being washed with intermittent heavy rainfalls. People are critically, analytically and coherently following the actions of all political parties in the country. So evil hearts and evil plans cannot help any party to win an election in our postmodern Ghana. Gone are the days when people did not know well. Now they have seen everything with their naked eyes.
