This is economics 101 which the Minister for Finance and the Economic Management Team should have advised the President on. This could have been achieved through a step-by-step approach rather than through this silly and ill-advised approach.

The government should not sit down and be dictated to by the IMF and the World Bank without thinking of the masses first.

And by the way, a lot can be achieved if government appointees are made to pay for their use of electricity, water, telephones, petrol etc. There is so much waste, leakages and corruption in the system that need to be taken care of first.
