NDC notion of running an economy is hiring over 2,000 serial callers with one having over fourteen cell phones, or fourteen different numbers, claiming or making noise that the economy is sound by hopping from one radio station to the next; instead of using the meager resources for dev't.

Boy Kofi, some of you have still not woken from the imperialist nonsense that preaches the primitive mechanisms of free-market economics.

If you have eyes to see and a brain to think, use them to figure out why 99% of the still small and impoverished private-sector of Ghana is only found in Accra leaving vast pitifully under-developed areas of the rest of the country to the state to manage?

Even when the colonialists were here, for centuries they did not encourage the growth of the local private sector. This runs contrary to their own academic, trade and commercial principles. Ask yourself why.

At their best, they encouraged the large state-sponsored UACs, Barclays Banks and PZs etc to establish and monopolize only the lucrative urban areas of the economy for their exclusive benefit.

As far as they were and they are still concerned, the rest of the people in the country can go hang if they dont have anything that can make a capitalist inordinately wealthy at their miserable expense.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, the emerging 'native' middle class - the so-called Merchant Princes of the Gold Coast, including heavy weights like Sakyi and Paa Grant were ruthlessly undermined in favor of small-time European boot-leggers by the colonial govt.

I do not think that this country necessarily operates anti-business policies. On the other hand I think it is a fertile ground for serious capitalists to make a lot of easy good money if they so wish. What this economically under-developed country should however not do, is to open her legs wide for brigands and shameless agents and collaborators of imperialist exploitation to come and freely rape us to the disadvantage of the larger population.

Over and above everything, a free-market economy can never make any headway in the capital deprived economy of an under-developed country. Even if the capital were available, local capitalists would not be able to compete with the larger state-sponsored European and American conglomerates. What was done to Sakyi and Paa Grant would inevitably happen again.

Controversy, I think Kobby Acheampong is the right person to clean up the mess at Gyeeda.If for nothing at all, his mere presence will put that agency under the spolight,and thus produce th needed reforms to tackle the horrendous youth unemployment this country faces! I would recommend that Kobby comes up with a plan to turn these 'dog-chain' sellers into productive entrepreneurs who will help generate wealth in this coutry.
Break the monopoly of Zoomlion in waste management,and make some of these young people independent contractors,who will assume ownership of the work(services) they provide. I can bet my last dollar that many within the energertic segement of our population, will seize this opportunity to remain within their communities and build a decent future for themselves. How many of these street hawkers who, at present, cannot count on a guaranteed income and find a decent accomodation in our sprawling metro areas,would opt for this change in lifestyles? I am told many of our university graduates are now working for ridiculous wages(three-four hundred GHc) as "Susu" collection agents in our market places.
Why not encourage some of them to form marketing co-ops to get foodstuffs from our rural areas to markets in the cities? And what prevents the really bright and risk-takers from setting up mini-super markets where the urban middle-class may choose to shop, by paying a little premuim, at locations near their homes? And you know what, even a few can go further and introduce the 24/7 variety/convenience shop concept for yet a little more money!
Those interested in in farming(youth in agriculture to help us overcome the Dutch jinx)can take over amily-owned land and introduce mordern agriculture in our rural areas rather than engaging in the environmental activities of galamsey.

How can Mahama recircle the same inexperienced criminally corrupt disrespectful novice old faces whose bad track record of performance has negatively contributed to the shameful economy of the country that is compared to the little known or unknown country like Lesotho?

Where are all our brilliant and experienced human resources?

Anyway, if you have a government who want selfless striking teachers take their passports and leave the country then you should know the type of people ruling this once powerful nation, Ghana.
