Ghana is not starving and therefore we don't need it. Come here and see how much we pay for organic food in North America. Look at the obesity rate and kind of man made diseases and sicknesses that we have here because of the chemicals and GMO foods that we eat here. Children as young as 8 and 9 months old are wearing glasses to enable them to see. I can go on and on down the list. We as Ghanians do not have to the money and medical facilities that will take care and treat us from the illnesses, diseases, and sicknesses that come with the consumption of GMO product.My daughter was eating everything when she was in Ghana and now that i brought her here to America, she is allergic to a whole lots of food.

My observation here is that people don’t seem to understand how serious this is. That is why we don’t have many contributors on this topic or subject. Politics has taken most of our attention. I have researched deeply into this GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) thing and dear readers, it is damn serious and dangerous. What the GMO mafia does is to first of all bribe our politicians who are close to the agric sector into accepting whatever rubbish is shoved at them, forgetting that their children might also be affected and suffer the consequences of their greed.
The only thing that will bring any benefits from GMO products is the huge profits the pharmaceutical companies will reap. Because the end results of consuming GMOs is CANCER! What do you think sent all those poor people with kidney failures into those hospitals wasting huge amounts of money on dialysis? If the government is accepting GMOs, then some money has found its way into the pocket of some politician(s).
The opposite of GMO products is organic products. God in His wisdom created food that keeps our health intact. Why is that most of our people in the cities are so obese compared to their counterparts in the villages who are far slimmer and healthier? It is all about what they consume! Why are doctors always advising us to watch our diet? The villagers hardly get this sort of advise. The iodated salt for example is a killer!

GMO products are safer at this moment than most of the food from unsanitized restaurants throught out the country. But unfortunately, the GREED of some of OUR people allow them to be caught up in the evil acts of such people.

Why is it that,.........seeds that include the creation of new "transgenic" life forms - organisms that cross unnatural gene lines (such as tomato seed genes crossed with fish genes and many other seed genes are crossed with either pigs and sometimes human genes) be allowed to be grown in our country?

Let's also be mindful of the fact that, mutations may also be able to travel internally to other cells, tissue systems and organs throughout the human body.

The basis for health claims of GMOs should be stated. The economics of the GMOs versus traditional seeds were not stated. If farmers have to buy seeds every year and they get more profits than using open pollinated varieties (OPVs) then where is the case against GMOs.We should not close the door against science and technology. GMOs can be planted alongside other varieties.We should bring out all the pros and cons of GMOs and not just condemn them. Let us leave all options on the table. Do we know that we already consume a lot of GMOs as long grain rice, soybeans, etc from the US?

African governments must protect their people from hazards of disease and mutations in genes of the people.
