Please ask Albert Kan Dapaah (energy minister at the time) what one IMF official told him to do. He was asked to switch off lights at the Korle Bu hospital, and that a few deaths of the patients will automatically qualify Ghana for an IMF loan. If this is not satanic, then what else can this be? Kobla, please go and report to ECG that a member of the opposition is tapping free electricity. Let's figure out the lifestyle enjoyed by Abbey and others of his ilk. Most likely he has a chauffeured car with petrol allowance all provided by the government. He also, more likely than not, has a government-provided residence at the University of Ghana. Next his monthly salary which is paid on time but we won't even go there for fear of the high amount raising our blood pressure. We will also not list the overseas conferences with all kinds of allowances attended by the learned doctor. Nor will we touch on the various meetings with catered food and drinks. His benefits - end of service, Kufuor-style ex-gratia and then his pension proper - we'll leave all these in the dark. For the work of the "technical committee", how much is he and his colleagues getting in allowances, catered food and transportation allowance? What possibly can Dr Abbey and his "konomtea" members ever know about the life of the average Ghanaian with all this state-provided high class "welfare" for the elites? And what, we should also ask, is the benefit of the oil extraction to the people of this country?

The difference here is that the government should not stomach corruption in any shape or form so as to be respected and trusted. I said a year ago that there was going to be mass action. Lo and behold it is happening because it was always going to happen. Now the solution is none but a committed, dedicated and heartfelt action against corruption. This is Mahama's job to accomplish and he will need to be brutishly uncompromising to succeed.

Now if Ghana's energy sector is in a dire state of needing fix then why is that for all those years until now successive Ghanaian governments have being mis-spending the limited national revenues(money)on luxurious projects as if Ghana were a rich nation? Very extravagant spending on huge but low priority governments projects? Also huge and unnecessary public sector workforce which costs millions of cedis in salaries and wages but low productive rate? Ghana as a small country and not rich, can employ over 600,000 staffs in the public sector as compared to a nation like UK with higher populations than Ghana, also much developed and richer only employs around 300,000 of its
citizens in the public sector? Do Ghanaian leaders have brains to think? Are they also aware that any successful private sector organization in the world is always consecutive about the cost of its labour force and its total operational and overhead costs? Also by comparison, Ghana being an under-developed or developing nation also has a size of MPs larger than that of most advanced countries with larger populations than Ghana's? The annual salaries paid for those unwanted number of MPs in Ghana can even fix the energy sector problem or help fix the educational system and the inefficient health sector. Again, mismanagement of national revenues and all the loans that are constantly being borrowed from external lenders could have been used wisely to bring to better level and efficient energy at a reasonable cost for the citizens if those monies are not used to pay for wrongful debts and also not being stolen by the politicians. The poor and the vulnerable Ghanaian citizens are not to be punished or made as scapegoats for the corrupted system. Where can the poor masses get money in the mix of widespread unemployment to pay for the politician's mistakes? I definitely think Ghana with its present predicaments, should not have more than 50 MPs to run the affairs of parliament instead of the 275 MPs or so at the moment. Ghana also should not have more than 10 cabinet ministers to run the government at any given time. This will safe money for the ailing economy and it will help maintain other services where the money is needed most. Let Ghana considers the term called "KISS".

The generating of funds must be geared to wards the poliices of the country, and not depending upon IMF assistance whatsoever. The people in the government must be prepared to let or for go without their SUV and 4x4s and yes, bound almost every government official using state funds to acquiring such cars, no usage government cars on weekends, only to be considered if only he or she duty or assignment, etc. The above mentioned suggestion must be entrusted to the Ghana's well trained Armed Forces, the truth is that the officers are capable of solving problems and defending the country at same time.
The fact is that they are civilians first, having democratic right to vote, therefore, these present situation calls for assistance of the defending officers to enforce and to control the policies of the Nation. As whole wide world respected Ghana Armed forces and being the best peacekeepers, all must agreed to pave the way for them to contribute not to take over.
Please, allowed the understanding and love to govern the future development of the country.
To engaged and participation of the men in uniform should be good step for word.
