I respect wa Thiong'o a lot. I have read his writings and he counts among Africans (and world's) greats, giants,in post-colonial studies.

I respect wa Thiong'o a lot. I have read his writings and he counts among Africans (and world's) greats, giants,in post-colonial studies.

Ngugi is not a respcted scholar in the area of literature, but also in linguistics (which includes literary English).

His work and that of Prof. Awoonors's in de-cololonizing the African mind (and the continent)are just powerful and great.

I also listened to his interview on BBC a month or so ago. His eulogia for Prof. Awoonor had more depth and was more poetic than what I read here.

Maybe what we have read here is a capsulized version of an entire poetic eulogia. His American-born son Mukoma wa Thiong'o is also gradually rising in the African literary world.

Let Prof. Kofi Awoonor rest in peace. God be with his family.
