Why are people insulting Nana Oye for carrying out her constitutional duty? It may seem hash by her decision, but that was the right thing for to do.
What due process was carried out to ascertain the suitability of the good "Samaritans" to foster the baby girl? Was the girls interest considered to be paramount before she was placed with these two ladies?
It's because of such challenges, that we have the children's home that to serve as temporary holding facility whiles preparations for their adoption or fostering is done .
In this circumstances all criticisms should be directed to the Osu children home for refusing to accept the child. I strongly believe their refusal forced the department of social welfare to make that hasty decision of placing the child with the two ladies albeit a wrong one.
Even though people will wrongly criticise the minister and call her all sorts of names, that not very important. She did the right thing.
The most important thing for all Ghanaians is to learn from this fiasco. And the lesion we learn from this will ensure that such a thing does not happen again.

Ministers are not just there to decorate their ministries - to look on indifferently while their subordinates put up the show. They are there to ensure that things are done properly in accordance with the law and statutory regulations. The fact that the fostered child's mother is mentally sick is no justification for her and her relatives to be brushed aside as unimportant in getting foster parents for her child.
Even a good Samaritan must do his/her relief effort according to the law. For instance, the fact that someone is so hungry does not mean that he or she can be given expired food to eat - that is criminal.
If all ministers can put their foot down to ensure things are done right, like Nana Oye Lithur did, Ghana's development will be accelerated fast.
