Every political party has its major base. Its based on the founding members of the party. The NPP has strong base (Asante/Akyem) because of its founding members. It is the same with the NDC and other political parties.

What Dan Botwe said is only the truth but not denial of the fact that NPP's flagbearers since 1992 have been 2 Asantes and 1 Akyem, the truth that the factionalism in the party is not about tribes but personalities (Kufuor and Akufo-Addo). Why else will Ashanti Region vote for Akufo-Addo if they were against Akyems?

Finally, the NDC has had candidates from Volta, Fante area and the North not because they loved all tribes. No! First, Rawlings was not elected so he doesn't count. Second, Mills was chosen by Rawlings in order to manipulate him behind the scenes in 2000 when the NDC was not yet democratic. Thirdly, John Mahama would never have become president had Mills lived out his term. The NDC had cleverly been taken over by the Fante brains. It was no secret that Ato Ahwoi was the de-facto President when Mills was alive. So the fact is that Mahama is a president as a result of accident of fate. That is the fact.

I called you blind followers because you easily fall for ethnic propaganda by the NDC. Does tribalism put food on your table? Has Mahama's presidency improved the lives of northerners? Has it changed the fortunes of northerners? Why would anyone with his good eyes choose tribe over competence, eh? Because of useless tribalism, crooked individuals can loot and get away with millions of dollars that could have improved the lives of your folks. You fools eat and drink tribalism yet you clap for your propagandist leaders when they mount platforms and speak about African unity!

Indeed, it's too sickening and arrogant that just TWO (2) ethnic groups in a national party always claim that "it's our turn—it's our turn." How the hell do you want other ethnic groups to VOTE for your damn ass since you don't think they're part of the damn party? The electorate is fast dwindling, Negro!!

These two groups can go ahead to make those silly, selfish, reckless and arrogant claims and other ethnic groups would be ADVISED NOT to vote for any “Ashanti or Akyem in the presidential elections” anymore—if they don't change their stinking behavior. I may belong to one of these two groups, BUT it's not healthy to always SIDELINE others that you need their help to succeed.

Why not just say: “We will elect, as our flagbearer, any QUALIFIED member of our party”, instead of S/HE must be either Ashanti or Akyem? That's very dangerous and would certainly spell doom for the NPP's 2016 aspirations. When people are made to belong, they feel good about belonging, they work harder for the success of the group and would be LOYAL to the group—BUT THE CONSTANT SILLY TALK LIKE THIS, THEN AYIKOI OTOO IS DEAD RIGHT, Agya Dan “Twebo (Botwe).”

I posted here on Ghanaweb a few sometime ago that there was no Asante or Akyem factions in the NPP when late Prof. Adu-Boahen stood as party flag-bear and contested to become President of Ghana. There wasn't anything heard or known about this faction thing when it was ex-Prez. J. A. Kuffour's turn. This dirty and divisive ploy was introduced when it was time for Nana Akufo-Addo to run for the flag-bearer position. Suddenly we hear a of this Alan Kyeremateng group, headed by Paul Afoko doing all sorts of dirty things to destroy Nana Akufo-Addo. Paul Afoko was heard making open statements like: "Nana will cry at the end of the contest" implying that he'll lose heavily. In another moment the same Paul Afoko was caught doling out monies to voters during NPP's congress to elect party flag-bearer by some vigilant members.

This dirty tricks and the way some so-called "elite" members of the party have consistently opposed and struck down good suggestions made by common floor members has been one of our main problems.

The NDC have capitalised on these dirty tricks initiated by our own members to denigrate Nana Akufo-Addo. NDC's Gen. Secretary, Asiedu-Nketia was quoted as saying recently that Nana lost the Presidential race because of his public disgrace. Isn't that pathetic to note?

An Akan saying goes: "the sheep thought it was messing up the streets with its droppings, forgetting to note that it was messing its own tail end." The NPP has become its own enemy as recently observed by Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey. We must show some maturity here before the 2016 campaign begins.

Victor, much as I like Nana Addo, I think he is the worst candidate the NPP has ever had. He had two brightest opportunities to become president, but he wasted them because of complacency and poor organization. What saddens me most is the attempt by some NPP members to blame his defeat on the doorstep of Alan, as if it was Alan's picture that appeared on the ballot paper.

Even when the NDC was strongly divided and had failed miserably in govt, Nana couldn't win. He had to rely on only Ashanti Region to save his face! You can't win elections if you don't have the "magic" to win votes from the "enemies" camp. What you folks in NPP should realize is that Nana may be popular in the NPP, he is disliked by many outside of the party. Why he is disliked, I don't really know. I can only put it down to the high illiteracy rate and political immaturity among many in Ghana.

Lastly, the NPP seems to be falling into the trap of the NDC. What the party needs is deep thinkers and selfless members. There are many in the fold but I guess factionalism has prevented the best brains from being utilized. Why else would the delegates elect somebody like Sir John over Nkrabeah Effah-Darteh and Yaw Buaben-Asamoah, as General Secretary if he (Sir John) did not belong to the camp of Nana Addo?

I sincerely believe the NPP is more attractive to Ghanaians than the NDC but the problem is their candidate. Play the NDC's game by choosing a candidate who will be admired by many across the political divide. I can point to persons like Bawumia, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, Dr. Arthur Kennedy, Isaac Osei, Joe Ghartey, Ambrose Dery. I did not mention Alan because I know for a fact that he would lose massively in the Eastern and Ashanti Regions as a result of the hate campaigns executed against him from Nana Addo's camp.

Long live Ghana.

3. Why should the party not agree to go for the second voting when Akuffo Addo didn't win the majority at the flag bearer contest, but the electoral college present was told to allow Nana to take the flagbearership??
Why was the same not done to Aliu to win the flag bearer contest at the congress, if indeed the NPP wanted to show itself as a party of principles and that Kuffour's regime was "good" then why punish Aliu for a good job done???
4. Is it an accident of history or coincidence when only Akyem-Ashanti should be elected?? Are they the only people who can rule and win elections in the party???

It may interest you to note that Rawlings stood in the British Parliament and retorted: "My wife doesn't deal in cocaine" when it was obvious he hadn't been queried by any member of the house when he mounted the podium to make his speech.

It looks you NDC guys always take Ghanaians for jokes. Your party has used dirty tricks and "Communist Style" propaganda to deceive people. Sadly NPP often refuse to respond to these dirty tricks. But I believe it proper to refute such false allegations when they're put out by your dirty and notorious party.

In those years, many of us became informed that the illicit business had strong govt. involvement making it difficult for players to be busted! The "Diplomatic Bags" had become the main channel or tool which facilitated in the business.

You may take notice. Hope you haven't forgotten the recent bust involving a security agent at the Kotoka Airport, in what is said to be one of he biggest discoveries in the business and who's noted to belong to the NDC? The truth will cannot be swept under the carpet that Rawlings and his AFRC/P-NDC gang had a hidden motive that led them to mount the political scene chasing, arresting, beating and killing many innocent Ghanaians in his so-called "Revolution" to cleanse Ghana. Some of these victim of their revolution were business owners, notable among them were Akans. Rawlings' gang sought to supress the "Akan" tribes people for their dominance in Ghana (business, education and politics etc).

To this day everything that the NDC had hoped for is to vehemently resist and oppose the rising of any "Akan" tribesman, esp. unto the political scene. It's wicked perception that's eaten into the fiber of the NDC. Thanks to people like Dr. Afari-Gyan and Justice Atuguba, NDC have been rigging elections since 1992, until Nana Akufo-Addo, Dr. Bawumia and Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey challenged the 2012 elections in court. Everybody has seen what's been going on since those years when Rawlings appointed Afari-Gyan as EC's boss. And if you may also care to take note, late Prof. Adu-Boahen wrote the "Stolen Verdict" when he lost to Rawlings although many Ghanaians clearly thought Rawlings had become unpopular after failing to keep all his revolutionary promises.

Your party have used vile propaganda and election fraud to win power and its a fact that nobody can deny! There more to what is going on in the dark than what you seem to have people believe. Akans who made of Akupem, Kwahu (Kwawu) Asante, Brong, Ahafo, Fantes ect. constitute approx. 46% plus of Ghana's population. They happen to have great links in the NPP. Nana Akufo-Addo's uncle late J. B. Danquah was one of the founding members of the NPP. That doesn't mean the party is apartheid institution. It's never true!

Do you mean to suggest that the NDC is an apartheid institution because it's pro-Ewe party? Is that what you mean? Please be straight forward in your arguments. The NPP, despite all he rumour and bad talk that going on is one great party.

You accuse the NDC of using tribalism yet all tribes including Akans have played significant roles in the P/NDC throughout its era without feeling alienated in govt as long as they worked with Jerry Rawlings. Meaning Rawlings only went after those that oposed him and wanted his govt to fall and did not choose to go after Akans as an ethnic group per se as some of you always preach.

Some of his closest confidants were Akans including some powerful Akan kings. Over 70% of those who lead the coup that both freed him and toppled the Liman govt were mostly his Akan comrades in the army.

How stupid can such Akans be knowing what Rawlings has set out to do and still support him? What of all those who were killed that were non Akans? What about the thousands of Market women that were beaten in Accra of which some were from other tribes esp Gas? Are you also aware that some of the soldiers that took part in beating and taking individual revenge on their supposed enemies after the revolution were Akan soldiers?

You accuse others of tribalism yet tribalism smells on your kind than any in Ghana. Even in the diaspora your kinds continue to preach tribalism to innocent kids who knows nothing about tribes in Ghana. Well, no ethnic group in the NDC complains of feeling alienated yet that is coming from the camp of the NPP.

It means you and your party have a tribal problem though the NPP might have more visionary leaders than the NDC. Why is the NDC always winning more regions than the NPP if the NPP is truely seen as national representative? We might have illerates in Ghana but they arent stupid. Even here on Ghana web, Okoampa, Akadu, Katakyie, and Adofo Rockson have written several articles reminding us many times that the NPP is truely an Akan party. May be you need to check with them and come back.

You can hide but cant run away from the truth.

We understand the fact that some struggled so hard to put the party on its recent position but times are changing and they should not think because they are now in a position of wealth so whatever they say, good or bad, is what the party has to take. These personalities should not forget that they will die and leave the party behind. We don't have to sow a bad seed for the good supporters of this great party. "This person supports this person, and does not support this" is what is totally killing the party. Our internal politics is taken a toll and if care is not taken, people will read meanings to the line of our selection of leaders in the party to those ethnic lines. We are in the 21st century and where one comes from should not be a reason for his or her selection but what one has to offer the party and the country as a whole. I have clearly seen that some leaders of the party have their own personal issues against each other, I agree that its human nature, we can disagree alright but lets not translate this to mean what's circulating now. Some of us are not from any of the above two ethnic groups, what are they trying to tell us now? A word to the wise is enough.

When Ken Agyapong uttered his Hitlerite words(Kill all Gas and Ewes in Kumasi),and Akufo-Addo's call to "yen Akanfo" for a war("ALL-Die-Be Die"),none of these Ga stomach politicians - I.C.Quaye,Obetsebi-Lamptey and Ayikoi Otto - condemned this vile ethnocentric garbage. Rather,all three kept mum,for fear of losing their positions within the party.

NPP was founded on tribal kinship - based on the so-called Danquah/Busia Tradition - which itself encapsulates primitive tribal bonding and allegiance,political and ethnic hegemony,greed,backward - thinking,neo-colonial mindset , paleoconservatism and crony capitalism.

What bothers me much is, Ashanti Region is home to most tribes in Ghana yet, they turn around and accuse Ashantis as "not good". There is Anloga Town in the heart of Kumasi but Ewes hate Ashantis to the core. Is there any Ashanti Town in Ho? I need an answer. I know a Ga man who cannot stand Ashanti so, one day I confronted him to know why and his answer was, " Ashante ky3m33 gyee gb3m33". So, I went further to explain the meaning of that. His only answer was the same. People have been brainwashed to believe the unbelievable. I do not understand why people cannot grow up and think like humans with brains. These reckless mindset is the reason why NDC is destroying Ghana for all of us. They cannot govern but due to hatred, some people prefer them to stay in power to make life unbearable for the average man/woman/children in Ghana.
