It is just sad. Kwesi Aning is not an employee of the state of Ghana. He is paid his salary in US Dollar. He is well paid for doing nothing as his colleagues with higher qualification are suffering in University of Legon. He does not even pay tax. The man is also a contractor in the supply of oil to the government of Ghana. He is in fact one of those Ghana government has to pay money to.
What is this lies about Mali as a regional becon of democracy and peaceful? Was it not where the military coup took place because of lack of insensitivity of the political class? Who is he fooling with the story of "hooligans across West Africa?" For how long will people like Aning think they can continue to call oppressed people terrorist and kill them? When Dr. Aning was expressing concerns on those who might be infiltrating in the strike, is he referring to the Ghansians in the informal sector who might be joining the demonstration to express their view? Who is the elephant in the House?
We should be expecting the wisdom of this man to include asking Mr. Dramani Mahama to do something about the price hikes. No, to him the increase that is leading to the demonstration, is non negotiable. Containing Ghanaians by the very security forces our tax pay for, is his only view. The creditors are more important to him than the victims of the debt.
On whose side is Aning? on the side of the Ghanaians or on the side of those who are holding the state if Ghana to ransom? The issue here is, CIA are operating right in the heart of Ghana. Ghanaians we just have to beware!!
Well our problem is our government, our our president, our electricity and our water. We can even re-nationalise it if we like.

My only advice to the authorities is to use this opportunity to "clean" house,and get rid of some of 'corrupt' and 'dead wood' within our bloated bureaucracy! Let`s learn something useful from the recent Iberian experience in dealing with all these unnecessary ultimatums and threats of industrial action in the country!

It is obvious that we as a nation are in a leadership crisis.
I was shocked to read a foolhardy response by Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu stating government's unflinching position of unwillingness to bow to worker's demand.

We lack tacticians who, under pressing circumstances, may use the negotiating table as a bait to avert confrontation and ugly dispositions.

Our freedom is too valuable to be experimented with foolhardiness. The test of leadership during national crisis is at the feet of the presidency.

Does one need to be a 'security-analyst' to realise what every police constable knows, namely, that wherever angry workers assemble together or engage in a demonstration, or when they do not like what their leaders do or tell them, during a strike, there can be trouble? Why link such a natural occurrence by implication with Mali and Touaregs and Al Qaeda, in order to sensationalise a simple local issue>

So because there is trouble everywhere in the world, the workers must sit down and cry when they can see 667people employed to do nothing in ""@The President's Office", most of whom ride in 4x4 cars, obtain free petrol etc?

Dr Aning, security is not achieved by repression based on wrong analyses like your, but by the institution of measures that bring social justice to all. If the Government listens to the workers complaints and deals with them in an objective, non-emotional manner, there will be no security issue whatsoever. Didn't scare-mongers predict confidently that the election petition verdict would plunge Ghana into bloodshed? Did it happen? Just shut up, man. You can dish out academic inanities at your centre but please spare the nation your nauseous prognostications. I have lived and worked in another third world, much poorer country than Ghana, for 4 years without witnessing a single price increase.

Although this 3rd world country is relatively poorer than Ghana and not an oil producing/exporting country, I've never ever witnessed even a single 1% increase in fuel prices, let alone utility tariffs and import duties.

And all of these are humanely priced for even a messenger in the public service here to afford without any complaint whatsoever.

In this 3rd world country, I imported a SUV from the US, paid a flat rated nominal and easily affordable import duty and registered this SUV UNDER ONE ROOF, which the locals call "ONE-STOP SERVICE".

The whole clearing to registration process took me under 4 hours (3HOURS & 10MINUTES TO BE EXACT), without the hussle of using the services of a clearing agent or DRIVING all the way to DVLA to register my MERCEDES GL450 series SUV.

Mind you, in this poor 3rd world country, you could go on a vacation for one year, leaving everything in your house with the doors and windows ajar. You'll return and find everything in your house intact - No crime whatsoever.

This is how life should be lived, not the hell we have in Ghana.
