Why are officials cars sold to individuals who have served their term only to buy new ones for incoming appointees. Official cars must remain so. There is too much waist of the taxpayers money only for the comfort of the few and this practice must stop.
We must start providing efficient public transport systems so that anybody at all, including minister can use them. In enlightened societies, that is the practice. If public officials want to use posh cars, they should buy them with their own money not the taxpayers'

Bicycles be given to parliamentarians so that they can get fit and think positively in addition to the cheap cost to tax payers. We can even donate the bicycles so that all the money goes to the construction of roads, bridges, hospitals, research and development among other important public goods that will help the country to be competitive in the global scale. We are far behind because our colonial masters drug us after independence with such mentality of a new house, car for new university graduates at employment. now, we have nothing and must change our mentality. when are we going to export our local herbs as drugs? when are we going to manufacture basic necessities and be able to tap our gold, diamond, oil, manganese among others without the input of foreign nations? that must be our pride not only Mike quay or Adjahu retiring from parliament with two or 3 expensive cars at the expense of a good road to drive the car. this should be a disgrace to our intellectuals.

I will like to place on record that attempts of certain disgruntled elements to smear the good name of my family in dirt will not wash. The honourable Speaker may not be the best of likeable personalities, but greedy and corrupt is he not. We are a family of grafters and proud of our good name than ill-gotten riches. The Honourable Speaker comes from very humble background and is only determined to serve his country. He has his failings as a human being and I am honest to admit that we don't always agree on issues but greedy he is not. Leave the children of Togbui Lagbo of Wlite-Lagbokope alone.

I do not understand why government should spend any money on parliamentarians apart from the parliament house and a stipend to help the hire a research assistant. Parliamentarians should not be given any vehicle, telephone or accommodation to make it less expensive so that only people who want to work and can do the work goes to parliament. Why will you buy expensive cars, or homes for parliamentarians for only four years of service? they should either go on trotro, or their personal cars or a bus or walk to their work. This is what is making the parliament as a full time job for others when it should just been four or eight years and a new face and input comes in. This will make it cheap and useful to the needs of ghanaians instead of a point of misuse of public resources.
