Since the PNDC/NDC governments the have been selling the bungalows to themselves. I do not see why Jake should be an exception. Our current president also bought one and some of his old friends from the former regime.

A thief cannot claim he stole because others were stealing as a defense in court. These corrupt leaders keep lowering the bar on criminality and ignorant Ghanaians continue to make excuses for them. Why should the state be providing accommodation to government appointees. I live in Australia. Apart from the prime minister, no minister or government office holder is given official accommodation. Everyone lives in their own home. If the appointee has to work in another city or capital, he rents like everyone else.
When will this gravy train stop in Ghana? This accommodation thing is a relic of the colonial era when British officials who had never left the UK were given places to live when they were posted to the colonies. Close to 60 years now, and we are still clinging to this in independent Ghana.

It is very sad a poor country is milked by its educated elite who often run abroad on retirement because there are virtually no good drinking water, roads, hygiene, bridges, schools and other basic infrastructure in the Country. Governments of the day take some measures that eventually cause a lot of mess later. The P.V. Obeng era it happened and the lands were acquired for cheap by those in power.
