President Mahama seems to be saving money by shifting 100% tariffs to the people - and I have even heard boarders at SHSs, and other Tertiary Institutions all in a bib to carry out his campaign promises?
President Mahama should take a queue in Nkrumah´s lamentations when he learnt his lessons the hard way in far away Guinea and listen to the pleadings now that he has the power.
Ghana will lose nothing if these tariffs can be spread over a period of time. The president should also solve the high pay demand on the National kitty by slashing his pay and those of his appointee to about 10% to start with and see if the whole work force will not fall in line with him.

Besides we are tired of the political talk of "we are doing everything to address blah blah..." when in fact nothing meaningful is done and would be done after that empty assurance!
You and the rest in government are in fact in government to make sure the nation's socio-economic state is healthy. Challenges are definitely bound to occur but you can't escape blame if you fail to confront corruption heads-on to pave way for economic emancipation.

It's completely mindboggling and extremely disingenuous for Kwakye Ofosu who from all indications speaks verbatim for John Mahama, to rubbish this very concise, articulate report, well conducted by one of the world's leading pollsters. Kwakye Ofosu it seems just doesn't understand the report, or cannot make any head or tail out of the report, which would not be in the least bit surprising, judging from where he's coming from and it would do him a lot of good, if he sought some explanation to understand the very concept of the report and the survey, so the methodology and indices used can be explained to him, to clear the cloudiness and fogginess in his skull.
Corruption or it's perception and the fact that Ghana is way up there on the totem pole is a poignant and apt description of the situation on the ground. A lot of examples would suffice, but to cite just about 2 or 3 would serve to bring to the fore, the seriousness of the issue and how recklessly corrupt the Mills/Mahama/Amissah Arthur administration has been, continues to be and would be if steps are not taken to vote them out first and foremost, and usher in a new team, which would prosecute and exact the needed and required punishment to all the corrupt politicians and elements in this NDC gov't, and lastly seek the necessary retrieval of the proceeds of such corrupt practices both home and abroad.
It was only just recently that the World Bank, one of the foremost financial institutions or one of the foremost Bretton Woods institution had cause to completely ban and blacklist ZoomLion Gh.Ltd from engaging in any project funded by the World Bank for a period of years, as a result of corrupt acts that had been perpetrated by this company in a foreign country ie Liberia. One would ask why do I bring in ZoomLion. Zoomlion is brought into the picture because, ZoomLion has been implicated and cited for engaging in fraudulent and corrupt practices involving the gov't of John Mahama through an institution called GYEEDA, which engagement was used to siphon funds via corrupt and dubious means for the Mahama administration. The case has been investigated but till date the gov't has not been able to prosecute the culprits and stem the tide of escalating corruption. It's on record that, John Mahama is reluctant and incapable of getting to the bottom of the issue, because, his functionaries who were instrumental in facilitating the rot, have threatened to spill the beans, to show his complicity in the whole process. An institution which has been established for the public good, by providing jobs for the unemployed has been corrupted via the corrupt activities of gov't and Zoomlion, a company blacklisted by the World bank for corruption.
A case of corruption involving this same company and one of it's affiliates again has been involved and implicated in corruption riddled activities where, a subsidiary of Zoomlion called Subah infosolutions has been rewarded with huge sums of money for virtually no work done, under very dubious means, involving the communication ministry, the ministry of finance and economic planning and the Ghana revenue authority.
Another corruption fueled activity this time involving the health of the citizenry, was the appointee of the Mahama administration at the FDA ie the CEO of the FDA, who allowed an antimalarial medication-Gsunate to enter the country under very dubious and corrupt circumstances, and later turned around to scream wolf, effectively turning vulnerable Ghanaian children and infants into guinea pigs, and placing their health, safety and wellbeing into jeopardy. And in all of these cases, nothing, absolutely nothing has been done by the Mahama/Amissah Arthur administration, to bring his appointees to book, because, of his complicity in these activities. The examples are numerous and rife, and it is extremely myopic, grossly unintelligent and completely dishonest and insincere on the part of John Mahama's assigned mouthpiece to rubbish the report, which places Ghana in the top 5 or so countries with corruption sending the country in the pits. Corruption under the Mahama administration is exceedingly high and it just would not end, because, these corrupt activities originate from the seat of gov't, and fully and ably supported by the President, and the only way to address this canker would require that, they are booted out of office and get a team in place, which has demonstrated by their actions and policy direction to address the canker head on. There's woyome, African automobile ltd, isofoton, sada, rlg, gyeeda, nadmo, subah, customs bonded warehouse rot, and the list is endless.

The incidence of corruption is different from its perception by persons within and without. So 89% of 1,000 people that Gallup interviewed in this country think that corruption is pervasive in government. What are we to make of it?
And we must remember that "government" is a broader concept than the administration being run by President Mahama.
Perception by the general public is shaped by what is put out by the media. In a country with free press such as Ghana's, the almost-daily churning out corruption stories definitely impacts on how we see corruption in government. This is why the quality of media analysis is critical.
Joy FM lost a good opportunity to highlight the incidence of corruption and direct the quest for solutions by focusing on the sensational but misleading "ranking" (which was not even the focus of the Gallup poll). So the administration's reaction focused on correcting the misleading piece instead of more substantial issues.
