America will never send her citizens to foreign countries to study and leave them to starve or without paying their scholarships. Ghanaians must stop the bad habit of saying things that they have no knowledge about. They should find solutions to the economic problems and stop dreaming that the hardship they going through is global. Who go to bed with empty stomach in America where people are called to come for food stamps or unemployment benefits. Corruption in Ghana stinks and the masses should shake the government to wake up.

Yes, fools bought into Akuffo Addo's free education policy because he can do it. Those who were asking were will the money come from should question this government where they get the money and siphon it from the national treasury.

Commonsense is common but not common to all. When this government came into office, they increase salaries of all government officials from the president, the MPs, the Judiciary. Where will the money come from to meet such salary increases? Mahama should be the last person to ask for salary increase because he is being fed like a new born baby. If the Single Spine Salary Structure is the problem, who force them to implement it?

This government is making education not a priority but for the privilege few. Think. A nation can develop when the masses are more educated. They are telling you lies and you have fallen for that. Who said there is no money. Imagine the rot under Gyeeda, Sada, Subha, Isofoton, Woyome etc. Where did they get the money to pay for all such dubious deals?

John Mahama and his bunch of corrupt NDC politicians have stolen all the funds in the national kitty to the extent that, it cannot even pay for the education of small number of Ghanaian children, pursuing academic programs to change their life and also contribute to the growth and development of the nation. The health of the citizenry is falling, educational standards are falling, students who qualify for university education are not being absorbed, nothing is working under this NDC gov't. Such is the results of the recklessness of the Mahama/Amissah Arthur gov't's corruptible leadership on the generality of Ghanaians. Ghana needs a change in 2016.

Don't u politicians feel guilty of your inability to do what is right and sustainable?
you could have used those moneys you showered on your family members and cronies in the name of scholarship to modernise the volta and brong ahafo universities but u chose to put those projects on embryonic stage and 'gave that money to cuba'.

you been awarding scholarship since independence yet those lucky first class citizens never come home with any new practical ideas in their heads. we can't even manufacture a mobile phone fully, a radio set or wrist watch. all you do is to squeeze some space in the civil and public services for those people to sneak in upon graduation.

you spend money to educate people and when they finish they come and cry on your head to create them jobs, but you never think about it. ndc and npp people are friends and i love every ghanaian but i hate the incompetence and ineptitude.! Imagine the duty paid on just one car at our ports. The taxes deducted from salaries,toll booth contributions, tarrifs on water and electricty etc.
After all these, polictians sit at the top and talk to us like we do not know our left from right. I see such publications and I feel very very sad for us all.
They can afford huge sums of fees for their wards and buy all the cars for them but cannot support Mother Ghana's students to study abroad.
Mr. President please decrease your salary and that of your ministers(because you do not need that much like expatraites) and pay water and electricity bill,fuel your personal cars and see ifyou cannot provide free education for all students with the balance.
Everything is possible under the sun when well managed. Thanks.

How many cocoa, sheanut, and peasant farmers' kids benefit from the scheme. And sending kids abroad to study what, if we say that Ghanaian Universities are equally good? Sending kids to Cuba and Venezuela does not benefit the nation. Now there are medical schools in Cape Coast, Legon, KNUST and UDS that can train as many doctors and dentists to meet the nation's needs.

Ghanaians continue to be take for a ride by the NDC and NPP. Unfortunately poverty has driven people so low that an "olonka" of rice can buy someone's vote.

Rather than reducing the number of students given scholarships using the GETFUND, the whole thing must be cancelled. It is simply abominable that the funds can be used as political patronage to be sending party members children and relations to take 1st degrees! Some of these people didn't even qualify to enter univ in Ghana!

Meanwhile, the original purpose of setting up the GETFUND, to revamp and expand the basic and tertiary education in Ghana, is not receiving maximum funding. Pupils and students are still going to school under trees and in very dilapidated structures which lack basic amenities.

What Ghana needs now is not funding some few connected students, often not the best, to study abroad. What we need is a massive expansion in our own educational structures, esp. the public sector, which has been under constraints for years, leading to the proliferation of schools in the private sector.

Any scholarships at all from the state sector must be at the masters and doctoral level, not 1st degrees.

In fact, the whole idea of sending students abroad and return without any job experience must be discarded. That's not what Sir Arthur Lewis advised Nkrumah to do in 1953.
