I had to read the story twice before it dawned on me that the writer actually meant, in good faith, to celebrate Mr Atuguba for the part he played in the electoral petition, in his brief encounter with him on the streets of Osu.

As unwitting a person as he the writer is, he is/was not aware that his choice of language and presentation gave an initial impression that he was making a mockery of Atuguba. On further consideration, I got the secondary impression that the writers prime motive for publicizing the article was to announce to the world that he, apparently a mere NDC 'gongadee', had had what in his enthusiastic consideration, appeared to be the rare life-time privilege of meeting face-to-face, Justice Atuguba, the NDC equivalent of the biblical Moses who heroically led the Israelites (Hebrews) out of Egypt to the promised land and thus saved them from perdition and ignominy.

Also, who is this Sacut Amenga-Etego himself? Not that it matters but is that a Ghanaian name? What does he do? Does Justice Atuguba acknowledge him for any other more respectable reasons other than that of blinkered ethnic affinities and sentiments?

I am just curious because inasmuch as I don’t think much of our legal system and I think it is more worthwhile to toss a coin to determine or resolve a disagreement between any two contending parties in Ghana, I am likewise not ruffled at all about the outcome of the recent electoral petition and Justice Atugubas role as the head of the panel of the Justices who handled the case. In other words, I have generally given up trying to make sense out of rulings by Ghanaian courts.

However considering the overwhelming public shock and dismay at what many say was an anti-climactic ruling by the Justice Atuguba panel, I am intrigued by the writers unrestrained sycophancy expressed in statements such as “…..I thought this man was the most famous, and all Ghanaians are his fans.” This toadying statement of absolute servility is followed by another, “Oh I am humbled hearing this from you but you are the one who recently made all of Ghana proud.”

Mr. Sacut Amenga-Etego, I wish to prompt you that Justice Atuguba may be an eminent Justice of the High Court of Ghana but I can assure you that, contrary to your ethnically biased and subjective opinions, your country-man, to say the least, is by no means a very popular personality in this country today. It may not have been his fault that he had to give a judgment in the way it went in the electoral petition case but, this is just to put the records straight.

Now, tell me the moral of this story? The writer is trying to say that Atuguba has a clear conscience and therefore he is not afraid of anybody. If that is correct, then why did Atuguba pull back and refused to shake the guy's hands the first time?

I don't think this is about tribalism or equalization. I think as a person of his stature, Atuguba was scared of the direct approach. Therefore the words "clear conscience" may be correct but that has nothing to do with why he was walking "all by himself", he probably wanted some fresh air without his guards.

Your rush to respond to comments made on anybody affiliated with NDC sometimes makes you sound like a complete idiot. You don't have to answer to every accusation on NDC and their affiliates.

I am not a lawyer,but common sense tells me that the constitution of every nation is written to prescribe a standard of behavior or a way of doing things in order to avoid arbitrariness.The constitution also imposes responsibilities on the citizens which must be sheepishly followed without any excuse, whatsoever.The Supreme Court Justices do not enact the laws.They interpret them.Parliament makes the laws.It is when there are ambiguities in interpretation of the constitution that the opinions of the justices, as to the correct meaning, are sought.So if the constitution says NO BIO-METRIC VERIFICATION,NO VOTING,that is what it should be.This is not a matter of the exercise of discretionary authority by the electoral commissioner.And neither does it boil down to a denial of the right to vote as some put it as an argument. Therefore,the Justices should have STRICTLY adhered to the no verification,no voting prohibition to nullify those votes and declare Akuffo-Addo the winner.I thank God Almighty that the land of our birth is still a nation of peace.

What the story tells here in simplicity is that the man for fear of his life after giving that disastrously disappointing judgement wouldn't have felt comfortable to shake hands with say an Ashanti or any other citizens outside his tribe simple because of his self guiltiness of the bias judgement he embarrassingly gave in favour of his kinsman who is the unfortunate man we have as an imposed President, John Mahama the visionless.
