It would have been worth the time and or paper wasted to post this infantile article by people at the Daily Guide if they had stated what the people of Ghana benefitted from the US$1.6 billion that was lost with only US$1.5 billion. FDI inflows is not always cash based transactions but machinery, merchandise, perishable commodities and others
From where I sit, it is more likely Ghana and its citizens probably benefitted greatly with the loss. For starters, our brothers, sisters and king folks in the Diaspora do send a greater share of the FDI inflows by being fronts for companies and some through the junk they ship into Ghana. It is after dumping antiquated and obsolete items, from motorized equipment through electronic gadgets to inferior quality perishables unto the Ghanaian market they make money to build and or purchase land and other valuable properties. What Ghanaians and our government get in return are items with limited life cycle and the headache of finding environmentally sound ways for disposing these short lived items.
