As a Bulgarian would say, interesno (meaning interesting). Kofi Virginia, I also had the view that two presidential candidates on the tickets of the two biggest parties in Ghana could split the vote from the three northern regions and possibly improve NPP's chances of snatching the presidency from NDC if NPP maintains its massive lead in Asante and Eastern regions. However, there seems to be some valid points in the article. For example, will voters in the three northern regions abandon Mahama/NDC (the incumbent)and put their faith in Bawumia/NPP?

I am not fully persuaded by the "another president" from the same region argument. After all, a vote for Mahama in 2016 means a second term for him and where is Mahama from? The north so Ghana will still have a president from the north.

I believe Ghana should stop the debate about where the candidate is from but rather consider the qualities the candidate brings to the presidency. If care is not exercised, the debate then becomes tribal and that is dangerous. I also believe Ghana should move away from a southern presidential candidate with a northern running mate and vice versa. Ex-President Rawlings had southerners as his Vice-Presidents and there was nothing wrong with that.

Ghanaians should choose a leader who has the vision, commonsense, integrity, wisdom, foresight to lead. Do you think every human can be president? No but every human can campaign to be president.

Look at the children roaming the streets of Ghana. How did they get there? Who are the parents of these children? Were they hatched from the bark of trees? Every man can impregnate a woman but not every man can be responsible as a family man or some who can take care of his children.

People should use their brains when making such irresponsible and reckless tribal comments. Is Mahama a president or just a human on a stage acting foolish?

If we do not stop that foolishness of trying to let everybody to be president, we will suffer more than what we are seeing.

NPP have a policy of electing their presidential candidate and no one can impose their will on the party. During their congress, they summons all their delegates from all the ten regions in Ghana before voting to choose the flag bearer. The delegates, according to reliable sources, are ten from each region who will vote to choose their leader.

People should stop that nonsense.

The same crooks in the NPP who claim Nana is a spent force in the party are finding silly excuses to side-line Dr. Bawumia. The very same people who popped Champagne after the election petition verdict was read are behind these latest dirty schemes trying to bring more problems to the NPP. What make a Northerner, like Dr. Bawumia unfit to contest for the flag-bearer position and lead the party in 2016? This is nonsense! Whoever is behind these bogus schemes must be exposed and be expelled from the party. These are some of the reasons why the party still find it difficult to win elections. My grand father used to say that when a Decree is drafted the authors always have a particular person or persons in mind and would cleverly define the draft to affect only the targeted person.
What a shame. Listen to the excuses by NPP. It is a clever way of pushing Dr Bawumia aside for an Akan. To say that Dr Bawumia is a Northerner and therefore he shouldn't lead the party because our current President, John Dramani Mahama is also a Northerner is the most TRIBALISTIC and discriminatory statement I have ever heard in my life. It as no intelligent or intellectual argument. It lacks political reasoning and nation building. The decision if true would demonstrate the confirmation of the hijacking of the UP(United Party)- 'mate me ho', from the FANTES and the Northerners)PP and now, NPP by Asantes/Akyems. This is a sad happening in our young democracy. Well we always learn from our mistakes. so I would ask the young Bawumia to take heart. I could only say,- 'damerefa due' to Dr Bawumia.
