Look, I'm Christian believer myself and I see the so-called corruption in Churches are from some of these angles:
i) many believers today are automated to run with their hearts without their minds, too vulnerable that any con stuff from the pulpit must be true, whiles Jesus knowing beforehand told us to be wise, reiterating that even children of the world use their minds and therefore are wiser than children of light - what's painful than this? Where come our minds when we see a preacher or bible? Any daft with a bible could easily print money from believers.
ii) we are somehow lazy because we want to hear than taking little pains to study the bible ourselves.
iii) we have too much trust for so-called pastors that even if things we see about their actual lives contradicts God's word, we still follow them leaving it to God to judge, whiles 'yagani yagani' they are ripping us off. Are pastors Christians 'God' that we must trust such that we refuse to examine and think before we follow.
iv) I may be wrong, but I think we begin too early without personal choice to follow religion, such that it become a lifestyle that when we grow we feel offensive to think and talk about, because it's blasphemy or taboo whiles people out of ignorance imposed on us mannerisms which are self-defeating. Religion is red-taped such that people think its a curse to talk about things we know are even naturally inconsistent with human living. You protest about stupid and useless stuffs in religion and soonest you are called anti-Christ, anti-Mohammed, anti-&-co, etc because some people think they are God themselves just because they have 'authority' in the word. If Christian leaders desire to relate to their fellow labourers in God's vineyard as 'gods' with only mono-communication system and naïve believers follow, what happens? Won't there be scams, corruption, adultery, etc breed in holiness?

It started from hatred to jealousy that killed 3 former head of states and 5 military leaders on unfounded charges of corruption. Today, their NDC gov't are stealing 5 million times what Afrifa, Acheampong, Akuffo and the rest took. Now we have ministers stealing millions of dollars. Otumfuo if you want churches to help fight corruption, President Mahama should send some of his people to jail to serve as a warning everybody in Ghana. thank you.

Every bad thing in Ghana starts from the Church. Instead of the Church frowning on ostentation and siding with the poor as Jesus Christ did, Ghana's Church Leaders want to be seen with the rich, famous and politicians. Not only that, they extort money from the very people they claim they were helping by creating so many avenues such as birthday contribution, tithes, and so many different type of dues. Yet, this so-called men of delibrately allow the rich with dubius characters to be made to sit at the high table to deceive gullible members. Corruption is a moral issue who should be fought from both the homes and Churches. Unfortanately, Ghanains pretend they hate corruption yet the society encourages it in various forms. Let's fight corruption from our homes and churches and half our problem is solved. On this occasion, i totally agreed with the Asantehene. The Churches have failed!

After getting their loot they rush to churches to show off that God has listened to their prayers and the Pastors/Men of God criminally enjoy the adulation in glee. If that is the case, why should it be that the 'whiteman' who brought christianity to Africa does not have time for church and God but are more uprght, more advanced with less problems but Ghana is the complete opposite. If church leaders in Ghana are competing to get the ears of corrupt politicians then they like politicians have no moral authority to preach against corruption because they are deep in themselves.

Nana, I agree with you perfectly. The church has failed. When I see pastors and religious leaders talk about corruption I crinch because it is an indictment on them. What do they teach their flock? Are these corrupt individuals not members of one church or the other or mosque. So what went wrong? The church is placing too much demands on their congregation and these days before you can be noticed in church your money talks so what do we expect? Those pastors who sell oranges, holy water etc, do not realise that it is corruption? We have all become ostriches and have buried our head in the sand and shouting corruption. We are all talking about systems as the cause of corruotion. What makes up the systems? The human beings. If I go to bed in the night and I leave my door ajar, it is a systems failure but it will take a human being to enter and steal. So lets stop this systems business and get people involved in this and punish them. As for the church the least said about them the better.
