Therefore, such choice must be seen in the context of public service, but not as an avenue to amass wealth by all means necessary.
If the Minority Leader and his colleagues at Parliament think that being in politics make them paupers, they have a choice. They can quit and go back to their chosen professions like the rest of us.
Being a Member of Parliament or Minister of State should not be a pretext to steal from the public purse or engage in any form of corruption.

Don't know about Tanzania, but the corruption and iniquities in Nigeria and Kenya is legendry and bears no resemblance to the good governance political excercise taking place in Ghana. It is a difficult and challenging task which the NPP thieves don't make any easier. But Ghana has the men and economic wherewithal to win in the end.There is a lot to be done and the 'yen che ndi waa, waa' will have to stop. Lawmakers in Kenya have agreed to rescind a planned salary hike, following outrage and protests by the public weary of politicians who already earn exorbitant wages in an impoverished country with an estimated 50 percent unemployment rate.
The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), an independent government-appointed body which establishes public sector pay, said that Kenyan MPs’ annual salary will be cut to 6.38 million Kenyan shillings ($75,000) from $120,000.
However, in exchange for agreeing to the salary cut, MPs will now receive a tax-free car allowance for about $58,000. MPs will also receive generous pension benefits, armed guard protection, diplomatic passports and use of VIP lounges in airports, as part of the new compensation package.
Moreover, under terms of the new deal, Kenya’s 416 MPs (comprising 349 members of the National Assembly and 67 Senators) will be paid a monthly taxable salary of 532,500 Kenyan shillings. This figure will increase by 44,375 shillings every year –- meaning they will be raking in 710,000 shillings per month by the fifth year (or 8,520,000 shillings annually, which equates to almost $100,000 at current exchange rates).

The minority leader need to know that the average citizen of Ghana who voted him to parliament can pay him 7200 if it's low for him then he should get out of parliament. We have children still studying under trees, our health system is fucked up, transportation and roads are a mess yet as an MP you want more money for less work or no work at all. The minority leader is greedy and selfish. If he thinks parliament I've is not making enough as a parliamentarian then he should call it quits. Our young country need politician who can sacrifice for future children. Mr MP majority of Ghanaian families live on a dollar or less a day, whilst you live on $80 plus a day and you complain. Mr MP go wedge yourself.

Ghana has become like a female cow and Ghanaians must be reminded that the more we milk the cow without ensuring that the cow is replenish with more milk, we shall soon start drawing blood from the cow which would lead to its death.
If Hon. Kyei feels the remuneration of MPs is making them look like paupers them he should either resign immediately or relocate to those West African countries where he deems the remuneration to be better. Anything short of that then he must forever hold his peace!!

There is no one serving in Ghana's parliament who was conscripted and or forced to serve his or her constituents. Just as the average working poor and the under employed in Ghana keep looking for job so should these pompous but classroom educated fools in parliament need to quit parliament and look for meaningful jobs if they think they are living like paupers in Ghana.
This is a time I wish I was in the military and capable of convincing my comrades in arms to stage a Coup and throw all these bums in jail and or hang them in a public square. The average Ghanaian cannot afford a loaf of bread but we have people who live off Ghana for free and with complaints. This is why the NDC must act like a party with common sense so NPP can never get to power again. Greed and the love of money has truly become the life blood of Ghana's NPP.

Most of west African and African leaders are imposters....they 'pay'themselves high salaries in millions and give theirs citizens hundreds. About 60% of the nation's salaries go to them, milking us dry.
They should be under the civil service and their salaries should be just as any Ghanaian. This way they will know that they have to climb a ladder of salary scale just as any person in Ghana.
