Pope Francis delivered an impassioned sermon yesterday, during which he quoted a passage from the bible that said some sinners deserve to be tied to a rock and cast into the sea.
The Argentinian religious leader said Christians who donated money to the church but stole from the state were leading a "double life" and were sinners who should be punished.
Quoting from the Gospel of St Luke in the New Testament, he said: “Jesus says 'It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea',” because "where there is deceit, the Spirit of God cannot be".
Without directly mentioning corruption within the Catholic Church, in his sermon he described those involved in corrupt practices as “whitewashed tombs”, explaining that “they appear beautiful from the outside, but inside they are full of dead bones and putrefaction.” He said: "A life based on corruption is varnished putrefaction.”
His sermon came during his daily morning Mass inside Casa Santa Marta, the guest house he has lived in since being elected pontiff in March.
On Friday, he also condemned corruption, asserting parents who earned through bribes or corrupt practices had "lost their dignity", and fed their children "unclean bread".
He said: "Some of you might say: 'But this man only did what everyone does! ’ But no, not everyone! Some company administrators, some public administrators, some government administrators… perhaps there are not even very many. But it’s that attitude of the shortcut, of the most comfortable way to earn a living.
"These poor people who have lost their dignity in the habit of bribes take with them not the money they have earned, but only their lack of dignity!"
He compared receiving bribes as "like a drug" as people become "dependent" on the habit of bribes.
The Pope has made clear his intentions to tackle corruption within the Vatican and held a meeting with the Church's highest ranking whistleblower in October, after telling the Church in May that it “must go forward... with a heart of poverty, not a heart of investment or of a businessman” reminding it that "St Peter did not have a bank account”.

Especially so when Victoria never explained how she intended to do it. We all know she has good curves. Who knows whether she intended to make good use of those assets to syphon the $1 million from other people's loot - such as Mahama's?
The NDC cannot hide behind glass doors and hope they will never be found out. They should not use Victoria Hammah's girl talk to cover the lapses in the administration of the country now - corruption in high places.
I just read a statement from the little boy with sharp teeth, I mean Ok Ablakwa, explaining how the government did not set aside enough money in the last budget to start the construction of the 200 community schools promised in the bugdget, even though the drawings and construction paperwork had all been approved and certified long before. He continued to say that the government intended to build a number of universities and training colleges as well!
I bet that small boy's IQ is not high enough for him to realise that all what he said is bull's shit! If the paper work had all been approved as he claimed, it would mean that the cost of the project had also been certified. So, how come the budget decided to set aside only a small sum of money for the project, but touted to all that the project would take off successfully? Does he think that we are only interested to hear about planned projects and care nothing about whether or not they would see the light of day?
What is happening is that these people prepare these lofty projects to fool our donors to part with huge sums of money, and then sit down in the cool of Jubilee House to share the loot! And that is what Victoria saw and wanted to tell the world!
Your days are numbered. Big brother is watching all of you. This brat Ablakwa had enough money to fly his bride to the UK for a lavish wedding, even though he had only been in the government for less than a year. He followed it up with flying his wife to deliver their first baby in the UK - presumably so that they can secure a British passport for the baby! Where did he get all that money from? Can the average Ghanaian do the same? If anybody should be investigated, Ablakwa should be the first! Otherwise, Mahama and his crooks should leave the little girl alone. She has committed no crime to warrant her dismissal!
