Can you listen to all these people calling on the President to tamper Justice with Mercy? Begging for their "Inexperienced" Child to be reinstated a Deputy Minister of state, while they gather the elders to council her, even after the gargantuan goof and the revelation that she is in Politics to make US$1.0 million. What have those elders of Kintampo been teaching her all these 32 years of her life? To aspire to Public Office and loot $ 1 million? Is it now they are going to train her on the job as a Minister? Don't we have people with the relevant training and competence in Ghana to appoint as Ministers?
The same happens in institutions and in the society at large. Instead of us identifying the incompetent and corrupt persons amongst us and shaming them to serve as a deterrent to others, we slap them on the wrist and let them continue with their mismanagement and incompetency and corruption. At the end of the day, we turn back to complain about corruption in the society. If we don't remove corruption that has been uncovered, but sweep it under the carpet because as for this one, she is our own daughter or our son, then whose Daughter or Son should be punished for corruption? Hypocrites and senseless pleadings. Don't you know that Ghana is not an experimental piece for incompetent and inexperienced children with no proper upbringing to toy with? Mahama himself should have known that, Ghana is not a toy to be played with by her little Cousin or Concubine, whichever is true he knows himself. As a result of these children he has filled his government with, listen to the cry of Ghanaian that are going up to God everyday? And as if a 59% increase in Electricity prices is not biting enough, they are in parliament today pushing to increase VAT by 2.5%.
Why do they take us all for fools like this? When they were emptying the National purse at the Bank of Ghana for political campaigns and sharing V8 Land Cruisers and Laptops, did they not think that when they win the power they were so hungry for, they will need some resources to run the State? What kind of Block heads have we saddled ourselves with.? And yet our brothers from the North and Volta will continue to shower them with praise and clap for them. Cant they sincerely see that Ghana is dying and stop this foolhardiness?

This behavior of the grandmother and other family members of Vicky Hammah is very typical of Ghanaians. Ghanaians will never take blame or accept responsibilities for their actions. Vicky has to learn a lesson or two from this and move on. This ordeal will make her grow in life and maybe make her a better person. The decision by the President is final and should be accepted by all just like the Supreme Court Verdict was accepted by Nana Addo even though he had strong reservations about it. I am appalled by Ghanaians always trying to move mountains to change what has already been decided.

When there punishment is meted out to someone who has done wrong, a whole arsenal of people from chiefs, clergy, family and friends and those who can have influence on the appointing authority will descend and plead. This is what happened during the election petition, when all sorts of people and civil society descended on the petitioners to make a declaration of acceptance of results no matter what. rather than trying to seek for the truth and telling a person you are wrong and merit the associated punishment, we prefer "gyae mano nka" Where will this lead us??

I feel very sad reading this report. It is heart wrenching! My sadness comes from the sense that people in Ghana, represented by this family, seem to have the idea that being successful consists of being in government. It is true that the Ghana way of doing business usually means a person is in government and parlays such government service to riches. There are other ways to be successful. If Victoria Hammah really loves politics as much as we are told she does, then she has one option: She can go back to basics, run for office at the constituency level, get herself elected to parliament and re-build her political career that way. The other option is what Mr. Mpiani suggested several days ago - by going into private business and working her way up.
I have always had a problem reconciling the realities of the world as I have grown to know it, to the paradigm of government as pushed by the NDC. Of course the NDC itself preaches one thing but does the opposite of what it preaches. The NDC is supposed to be a social-democratic political party. It preaches for the central government to own and control everything, but its 'high command' enriches itself every chance it gets. The NDC bullies and vilifies people in private business and general makes it harder for private business people to be successful. The irony is that Ms. Victoria Hammah's only other option to get rich, aside from kissing the back side of her mentors in politics, is to participate in a robust private sector. Mind you getting rich is not a panacea. A basic element of economics is that one gets successful by identifying a need which the people want to have satisfied, and then meeting that need to the satisfaction of the people (ie - the customers). This simple phenomena brings financial success. It does not matter whether Mahama is Victoria's sister or mother or father or whatever. The important thing is that other means of making a successful living should be promoted for all the people of Ghana. I wish Victoria Hammah well. I think it was right for her to be sacked but I do not think that is the end of the world.

Mr John Alex Hamah, who testified before the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC) last month, has petitioned the commission to communicate its final decision on the issue of the refund of his money, which was confiscated by the military tribunal, as soon as possible to assuage his pain.
In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the NRC, Mr Hamah said: “My petition is a very simple and straight forward issue: my money is being held illegally by the state of Ghana and, by right, I am asking the state to refund it to me, subject to fair calculation, revaluation, plus appropriate and commensurate interest to date.”
He said the delay in taking a decision on the issue is causing him a lot of distress. According to him, he originally petitioned President Kufuor on the matter and copied his petition to the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice on December 5, 2001.
Mr Hamah said that it was his expectation that the President would direct the Attorney-General to laise with the Minister of Finance to release the money to him.
“But after waiting for seven months without any acknowledgement or reply from the Presidential Secretary, the Attorney-General, in latter dated July 4, 2002, advised me to petition the National Reconciliation Commission, which I did on September 3, 2002,” he said.
However, Mr Hamah said, after a very careful observation, he had come to the conclusion that his petition is a different kettle of fish from other issues before the NRC.
“I, therefore, think that it would be fundamentally wrong to delay any decision or action on my petition until the final report or recommendations of the commission at the end of its work,” he added.
He said that the continuous confiscation of his money to the state is unjust, a form of debilitating economic strangulation and a serious violation of his fundamental human rights.
He also described it as “a callous legal and administrative anomaly which must now be rectified by the state”.
Mr Hamah stated that he was pardoned by General F. W. K. Akuffo’s Supreme Military Council and granted free, absolute and, later, unconditional pardon by the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) led by Flt Lt Rawlings.

In the first place,whether someone was behind it or not, as to where that person recorded it or stole it from, the logic that comes from the critical thinking is that; were the facts in the recording revealing or uncovering gruesome deeds and secrets of government officials, and was it beneficial to the fight against the corruption canker in Ghana? And was it also helpful in finding out what really went wrong in passing judgement in favour of President John Mahama instead of Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, after all the voluminous evidence that was placed in front of the court.
