As for Mahama trying to deceive us as fighting corruption, it didn't wash because Vicky was not proven to be corrupt.

The fight against corruption, abuse of power and impunity must be proactive and not reactive. We do not need to wait to be charged with poor leadership in fighting it before reacting in seeking to show leadership where we had all the opportunity but failed to be proactive.

Good leaders act; they do not wait to react to situations. Ghanaians will have difficulty electing another President from the geo-political north which the President and myself come from for more than thirty years after he has left office should this President fail to fight corruption, abuse of office and impunity in obedience to our ancestors and God during his tenure of office. Mark my words!

My worry here is the distortions or otherwise, interpretations people will give to the "nothing to hide" issue one will discuss. Take Vicky's statement that she would quit politics only when she had $1m in her accounts. This could take her her lifetime to whatever age she would get that money. It does not mean she will get that amount within this time she is in office! She could genuinely make it too or she would not make it and therefore would not retire from politics till she dies. So why take her on now? The poor lady was just made an escape goat for other things she might have said.

That is more damaging, but knowing that was true, they quickly concentrated on the 1 million and sacked Vickie, that the focus will be on corruption in that line, but not on the payout to the judges to cheat on all Ghanians. The international world have already heard that and eyes are on Mahama's government, as well as the broken trust in the Judiciary.

It is good that the ex Attorney General Nii Ayikoi Otoo has spoken of his experience in relation to the issue involving the fired minister Hammah. This proves that there is the need to ascertain this situation very well in our system.

My main worry is if we have to take things in our nation to this mad way of the whiteman's world then there is a need that we rethink of the interference of people's private conversations in their own comfort zones, meaning their own houses.

If care is not taken there would be a time that we shall be afraid of everybody around us within our own comfort zones. This development of recording people conversations is not a thing or character that need to be acceptable in our Ghanaian community.

On moral grounds recording peoples conversation in their own house while they may be on phone is a very immoral attitude, which should not be encouraged within a christian/moslem nation like Ghana.

There may be slight differences, which may be somehow acceptable if people are recorded at their work places, restaurants, political rallies or generally public places etc.

Your point is superb which means you are aware of the character of the general way the people in Ghana live and do things. That alone makes you great, and that your point of informing all Ghanaians is that, whatever that was recorded or the real sense in the recorded stuff of the sacked deputy minister is solely based on Boasting, Gossipping etc, which is practised by almost 90 percent of the population of Ghana.

I always join a friend of mine on this matter and we always agree that the authentic and the genuine stuff/contents in the woman minster's case is Boasting in a conversation with a friend.

With sharp reasoning, and after carefull consideration will surely cause a wiseman to say this is nothing, though bias people with foolish political ears and myopic mind will like to create problem around it, and that is what we withnessed with the frustrated reaction of Mahama, our president.

Its not about whether it is right to record such so called private conversations but rather the morale behind what Victoria Hammah said. Taking into consideration how much an MP's annual salaryis now, what gave her the motivation to state she will not quit politics untill she makes $1millon dollars? She was definitely going to be nasty on our coffers if she has not already started. I don't see any crime in exposing thieves or will be thieves regardless of position.

None of us can stand to have our private thoughts subject to the kind of scrutiny that Victoria Hammah is receiving. When you are having a private conversation, and your conversation is recorded, that act of recording amounts to the monumental act of betrayal if perpetuated by a trusted employee. I know that I think of all manner of things, and when I do, I think of those things in every conceivable angle. I create 'what if' scenarios in my mind as I evaluate the things that I am thinking. If I have a conversation with a trusted friend and such thinking-out-loud speech comes out in a taped conversation, I will be as chagrined as I am sure Victoria Hammah must be at the moment. It is the sign of the times, and we must all be ever so cautious. One cannot even talk in one's sleep because one never knows if the bedroom is "bugged". The various things which Ms. Hammah allegedly commented on are explosive enough and we are all talking and commenting about them, but we must never forget that her privacy was massively breached!

When ou have facts and figures, you should not be afraid of of any discussion that come out of that. We are in a situation in Ghana where everybody is trying to get ahead of everybody. The unfortunate thing is that large majority of people do not do things on merit. Kid do not learn because they expect their parents to go and see somebody who knows somebody and who knows somebody higher. You can imagine the money that will be involved, pathetic. And many call themselves Christians!!! God save us all.
