Good leaders act; they do not wait to react to situations. Ghanaians will have difficulty electing another President from the geo-political north which the President and myself come from for more than thirty years after he has left office should this President fail to fight corruption, abuse of office and impunity in obedience to our ancestors and God during his tenure of office. Eliminating taxes on condoms and outboards does not suggest any serious attempt to address the severe fiscal weaknesses in the economy. And GRA have just paid out a gigantic sum to a contractor for doing sweet FA. In the interim the politicians are grabbing whatever they can for themselves, because once the country defaults, there will be no fresh incoming funds for a long time.

On paper, a total debt to GDP ratio of more than 50.00% appears frightening, however, the accepted threshhold in the EU is 60%. The size of the ratio alone is inconsequential. The question we should be asking is: is this level sustainable? The last time I checked, Canada's ratio is 84.60%, Britain's is: 88.70, Portugal's is: 124.10% and the US's is: 101.60%. Indeed,the lowest is: Suadi Arabia with 3.50% and the highest is: Japan with 211.70%. Nevertheles, no one is making any noise and painting bleak futures for countries with higher debt to GDP ratios than Ghana's except half-baked economists of NPP. Stop the noise and let us develop our country.
