Good leaders act; they do not wait to react to situations. Ghanaians will have difficulty electing another President from the geo-political north which the President and myself come from for more than thirty years after he has left office should this President fail to fight corruption, abuse of office and impunity in obedience to our ancestors and God during his tenure of office. Oral tradition has it that many of Ghana's current ethnic groups such as the multi-ethnic Akan, the Ga and the Ewe arrived in Ghana around the 13th Century AD. However, the Mamprusi are believed to be the first settlers, having been fully established by 1210 AD, before the arrival of the other ethnic groups of the Akan, the Ga and the Ewe in the 13th Century AD. This is utterly false. Give the names of all Rawlings' appointees and those of President Kufuor. And don't forget that in addition to the Justices Kufuor originally appointed, he increased the original number of the Justices from 9 to 12 when the Justices had ruled against him and he thus circumveted the legal system and had his way. That's corruption. And that's given him and his NPP leadership the confidence to be even more corrupt, knowing that they have their own judges as the majority in the judiciary who'd always protect their corrupt practices by thwarting any efforts by their political opponents make to bring them to book.

And when we talk about corruption, remember how Kufuor appointed Theodora Wood herself to the position of Chief Justice in the first place--the position she occupies today. She saved Kufuor and his NPP from the cocaine saga---the loads of cocaine that mysteriously disappeared from the Police Headquarters. Mrs. Wood's conclusion that her commission couldn't determine how the cocaine disappeared pleased Kufuor so much that he rewarded her with the CJ appointment. Don't ever forget this.

You and your ilk are pathetically ignorant about Ghanaian history. You who won independence without the Ewes? Ewes are more bona fide Ghanaians than Asantes who're continually in the forefront in heaping all sorts of insults on the Ewes on Ghanaweb.com.

As far back as the early 1850s, half of Eweland and thus about 50% of the Ewe population, made up of the Ewe sub-groups of the Anlos, the Avenos, the Somes, the Tonus, the Krepis (i.e., the Pekis, the Awudomes and their environs, etc., were declared by the British as their territory. The British thus colonised these Ewe people who formed part and parcel of the Gold Coast Colony. In 1858, the King of Peki, Togbe Kwadzo Dei III, pledged anew his allegiance to the British Crown. Then in 1876, the British formally created the Gold Coast Colony, incorporating this large stretch of Eweland and its people, as well as the Gas, the Akwamus, the Akuapems, the Akyems, the Fantes, the Nzemas, etc., etc. These were the original Gold Coasters. Because the above-named Ewe sub-groups formed part and parcel of the original Gold Coast Colony, they were legitimately represented by their people on the Gold Coast Legislative Council.

Meanwhile, Asante (which then included the present-day Brong Ahafo Region) and the Northern Territory (incorporating the present-day Northern and Upper West Regions) had nothing at all to do with the Gold Coast Colony. They were not involved in Gold Coast affairs whatsoever. Indeed, the British did not incorporate the Northern Territory into the Colony until 1899, whereas the Asantes were annexed only as late as 1902, following the Yaa Asantewa War that broke out in 1896.

From the above brief history of Ghana, it should now occur to you that Ewes also were Gold Coasters long before the Asantes and our numerous Northern ethnic groups. Ewes did play major roles in fighting for Gold Coast's independence. This fight continued until Kwame Nkrumah came on the political scene and some of his close associates who fought with him for Gold Coast independence were Ewes.

Jay London, if you're an Asante, you and your ilk must understand that Ewes have more claim to Ghanaianness than the Asantes. So, when you think and write, don't wirte out of your limited knowledge and ignorance. You must be ashamed of yourself with your spirit of ethnocentrism.

Secondly, when an issue comes up, address the substance of the issue critically and objectively, and don't resort to insulting people. Don't let your deep-rooted ethnocentrism and your false sense of superiority blind your judgement.

Thirdly, you must begin to seriously read Ghanaian history right away to get yourself out of your shameful ignorance. Then, and only then, you'll begin to think and write like an educated person.

It is deemed that lawyers by their training should exercise some decency, respect, integrity and uphold the ethics of the profession in very high esteem , so as not to demean the profession, it's practitioners and the very ethos of same unjustly and unfairly, with the intent of stifling public opprobrium for same. However, it seems these noble objectives are being eroded consistently and persistently on the back of petty, partisan politics, and it does not augur well for the delivery of justice in the country. David Annan and J. Kpegah cannot stick their heads out and say that, their suit filed at the courts challenging Akufo Addo was not fictitious and vexatious and lacked merit. Are these NDC lawyers serious at all and do they know and appreciate the law? The level of unintelligence which is associated with their actions is grotesque and it's about time, some sense and sanity was urgently sought, on their part, to engender some well meaning discourse, instead of this crass and errant nonsense.

As far back as the early 1850s, half of Eweland and thus about 50% of the Ewe population, made up of the Ewe sub-groups of the Anlos, the Avenos, the Somes, the Tonus, the Krepis (i.e., the Pekis, the Awudomes and their environs, etc., were declared by the British as their territory. The British thus colonised these Ewe people who formed part and parcel of the Gold Coast Colony. In 1858, the King of Peki, Togbe Kwadzo Dei III, pledged anew his allegiance to the British Crown. Then in 1876, the British formally created the Gold Coast Colony, incorporating this large stretch of Eweland and its people, as well as the Gas, the Akwamus, the Akuapems, the Akyems, the Fantes, the Nzemas, etc., etc. These were the original Gold Coasters. Because the above-named Ewe sub-groups formed part and parcel of the original Gold Coast Colony, they were legitimately represented by their people on the Gold Coast Legislative Council.

Meanwhile, Asante (which then included the present-day Brong Ahafo Region) and the Northern Territory (incorporating the present-day Northern and Upper West Regions) had nothing at all to do with the Gold Coast Colony. They were not involved in Gold Coast affairs whatsoever. Indeed, the British did not incorporate the Northern Territory into the Colony until 1899, whereas the Asantes were annexed only as late as 1902, following the Yaa Asantewa War that broke out in 1896.

From the above brief history of Ghana, it should now occur to you that Ewes also were Gold Coasters long before the Asantes and our numerous Northern ethnic groups. Ewes did play major roles in fighting for Gold Coast's independence. This fight continued until Kwame Nkrumah came on the political scene and some of his close associates who fought with him for Gold Coast independence were Ewes.

Jay London, if you're an Asante, you and your ilk must understand that Ewes have more claim to Ghanaianness than the Asantes. So, when you think and write, don't wirte out of your limited knowledge and ignorance. You must be ashamed of yourself with your spirit of ethnocentrism.

Secondly, when an issue comes up, address the substance of the issue critically and objectively, and don't resort to insulting people. Don't let your deep-rooted ethnocentrism and your false sense of superiority blind your judgement.

Thirdly, you must begin to seriously read Ghanaian history right away to get yourself out of your shameful ignorance. Then, and only then, you'll begin to think and write like an educated person.
