Bravo to PPP. These are Ideas whose time is long over due. Think of it when an African President is constitutionally mandated,on top of being an executive president to appoint Ministers, deputy Ministers, Council Of State, Heads Of Govt. Parastitals, Governor Of the Central Bank, The Attorney General, Etc,etc and on top of all that given the power to streatch his long hands over to the districts to control the local, Municipal and metropolitan Governments. This is insane. No wonder African Presidents easily get arrogant and crazy with power and over time become detatorial and begin to think that they are above every law in the country especially and dangerously so where he or she has overwhelming majority control in parliament. I wonder why the NPP does not add its voice to these noble ideas. The idea that a common District Chief Executive or Municipal or Metropolitan Chief executive can wield too much power and use the power arbitrarily, which happens practically all over the place while the people he is supposed to serve look on helplessly even where one is not performing effectively or so corrupt, but unable to be changed because that chap happen to be appointed by his President. Imagine this worrying situation, a relic of the colonial era when the excuse was the usual general illiteracy among the populace. The situation has long changed and there is no excuse why Ghanaians must not own the power to elect their local, municipal, metropolitan, regional and national leaders. I fully support this scenario in the present day Ghana where a local, district, municipal or metropolitan Chief Executive is properly elected or dismissed by the people they serve, this way making them truly accountable to the people. This is the only sure way of ensuring corruption free, good governance, rule of law, democratic systems in the country.
