We blame everything on the spirit world due to our superstitious culture that is also been played upon by the lazy modern day pastors.

The sad part is once we blame all our misfortunes on the spirit world the thinking process comes to an end. Do you see the negative effects of blind religion on the psyche of people?

if properly investigated we all know it should end with the impeachment and jailing of mahama . many are blinded and prejudiced by the love of their party or tribalism and do not want to see the truth. this is the saddest event in our history after the murder of Mills . our society and so called leaders are lazy and procrastinating not to mention lacking in courage and integrity so allow this tribal ethnocentric feudal society as opposed to an industrial entrepreneurial mentality and true nationalism with patriotism to flourish. history has proven that all feudal societies be it monarchy's , dictatorships or quasi democracies end up in blood shed whether through revolutions or war in favor of a republican structured system of governance . Bin laden realized the whole Arab world couldn't even produce a car tire and in his limited feudal mind blamed the innocent being the west for state as is the mentality of those trapped in this vicious circle. the northerners and ewes have been right under our noses setting up this catastrophe in the hope of being the ones to exploit and plunder the wealth of the Akans with the help of satellite smaller or marginal groups such as the Gas , krobos and even some of the twi speakers . despite all the money these feudal societies may have such as saudi arabia they can never evolve into the 21st century and develop. yes we have people with doctorate degrees in political science , history or sociology example tony aidoo who is only concerned about how much money he can get but can not point out these grave dangers to his bosses. the greed , selfishness , corruption and backwardness are all fruits of this ethnocentrism and tribalism and ensure we never develop but keep them in power . gadafi , saddam died because they refused to realize that the welbeing and prosperity of the people is a God given right and duty of every govt to secure for their people . they call us separatists and try and make their madness the norm but we know it will be over soon . vikileaks has shown what is the fate of Akans who foolishly think they belong , if she had been an ewe or northerner the crisis control strategy would have said it was a fake tape but instead she was thrown out in the cold to the wolves . a word top the wise , do not trust them or take them into your confidence , long live the republic of Akan

Why has the concept of tithe died in the West where the present form of Christianity started.Churches are being sold in Denmark for disco house to take over. The falsehood can no longer stand in renaissance Europe, simple and short. Remember that a duty is commissioned by law. Therefore if tithe is a duty, then which law enjoins the people to perform it. I have visited some of these churches and all they babble about is relatives back home or friends in the diaspora working with the devil to destroy you. At the end of the service they use all kinds of trickery to collect money from you: general collection, days of birth, twins, who has tits like elephant heads, who has the biggest kawula, who needs a special prayer for job interviews....these vultures know where the dead brains are and they feast on them until they leave for Ghana to continue the deception.

I bet Brother Amartey did excellent job on this subject than this guy turning stone into bread with magician's thinking and underpins. Quoting OT Jewish theocratic tax as tithe for reasons to oppose modern day tithing is far out of the way, because God's intention for tithes in the Leviticus priesthood times was not meant for even overall Israel. The poor and those whose occupation were outside agriculture (ie crops and animals)according to scriptures did not pay tithes. If it was official for the whole nation, then the Levites and the priests whose incomes were based on tithes would have paid tithes out of tithes they collected.
I totally disagree with tithe payment in NT Christianity but your thesis is not convincing to others who need proper teaching for not paying tithes like what Brother Amartey did.
Finally, I can say for all fellow believers to understand that God did not intend, that the system of tithing is to be exploited as gamblers guaranteed ticket to win material blessings in life on earth as preached in our pulpits today. Christian believers are not under mandatory 10% tithe before they receive God's blessings, because the scriptures say God will provide ALL our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus, its not according to diligent tithe payment.

Jehovah's Witnesses have been teaching against these tithe payments for years, and no one listens to them. Then again, the Men of God have poisoned people's mind not to listen to them. The Bible teaches that King Solomon instituted these tithes in order to generate funds to build God's Temple. When the project was completed, the subsequent Chief Priests continued to collect the tithes to the detriment of the masses. Remember, contributions people make to churches are not tithes and must be distinguished. Tithes paying is a fraud and people must be made aware. How i wish the president will make this article of yours be a compulsory reading for all ghanaians so that they'll know the truth and be set free.

To help them feed, and manage the Church and also evangelise to those who are yet to make Christ The Lord of their lives. I give to God by giving to the needy in the society. You don't expect the priests to go around begging for alms to print posters, magazines, pamphlets, pay light bills welcome visitors, etc. I will work earn money and give to the priest expecting the priest to do more of the evangelizing because the work of The Lord is a shared responsibility. I bring the money, He preaches. You will only complain about the payment of tithe if you do not read the Bible with an open mind.

The contributer in this way is helping to spread the mercy and glory of God. If any pastor or a church leader feels so smart to use such money on his/her own, the one should know that God can not be mocked neither can anyone trick God. I would like any reader to go to "YOU-TUBE" and search for the clip of "Richmond Gyimah" to hear what such pastors face. KNOWLEDGE is something that you need to tap into; strive for and maintain it. It means, you need to read more to get understanding. It seems, you did not understand what the writer said and instead of searching the scriptures as the NOBLE people of Berea did (Acts 17:11), you are here arguing illogically. The Bible called them NOBLE, just because they went to search the scripture for validity. Get that?

Firstly, I am a cheerful giver. I still believe that no one can out-give God. When I found myself in Church I do pay tithe and give more. I find poor people in the church and help. I don't discourage anyone who wants to give tithe. However, I wish many Christian will NOT pay tithe just because they think they would be cursed if they don't do so. That is the thrust of the article.

Secondly, the writer did not ask tithe payers to stop paying tithes, but rather to explain why tithe came about and why it was wrong for Pastors, like Prophet Owusu Ansah to use threats to accuse those who are not paying tithes and telling them that they are cursed by God. I have been to church and I have seen tithe payers who have struggled in every area of their lives. And also, I have seen married women and men who sleeps who commits adultery even in the church and yet are blessed financially. I keep on saying that we have made GOD to become like a VENDING MACHINE, expecting to get a quick return as we drop in our money. That is a lie from Hell, because his way and thoughts are not our ways and thoughts and he does his own will at his own time beautifully.

Thirdly, he did not deny the fact that tithe were being paid to the priests in the olden days. What he said was, there was no government when the people of Israel were brought out of Egypt through the wilderness to the promised land. They were led by GOD and it was GOD who chose his leader and priests (LEVITES).. this is what is called THEOCRACY, a government by GOD for the Israelis and of the Israelis.

Fouthly, if you had read your Bible carefully, the tithe were NOT meant ONLY for the priests but also for the widows and orphans. And some for a feast for everyone. Go and read your Bible well. Deut. 26:12, "When thou hast made an end of TITHING all the TITHES of your INCREASE the third year, which is the year of TITHING, and has given it unto the Levite, the STRANGER, the FATHERLESS, and the WIDOW, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled." So you see here, it is not for the pastor only. But unfortunately, a widow or a fatherless is being forced to pay tithe here and when they don't have or bring tithe to the house of the lord, some Pastors like Owusa Ansah is saying that they are cursed. Do you get it now?

Fifthly, you are not making sense, when you bring in magazines and books and all that. Almost every church takes COLLECTIONS, and there are times, a fund raising is organized for everything, including buying of organs, church building, choir robes, curtains, almost everything in the church is bought by the church members, outside of their already tithe. What are the collections and tithe being used for then?

Also, if God chose his own people to lead his people in the old testament, why is that in the modern era, your pastor's son and wife automatically become the leaders of the church. Has it not become a family business? And when pastors begin to become big and write books that becomes a National Bestseller, bringing in millions, has he not started working already and why should the church members keep on paying tithe for his upkeep.

Certainly most of the pastors are richer than the congregation, so why should the poor keep on paying tithe for their lavish lifestyle? Do you see the argument here? Go ahead and pay your tithe as you want to do and don't let anyone stop you. But please, if you happened to lose your job or anyone close to you lose his or her job and face financial difficulty, for God's sake don't go and tell him or her that, the difficulty is the results of being disobedient to God for not paying tithe.

Tithe was to feed the poor, strangers, widows, etc. and the Levite priesthood. Strictly by scriptures, where was tithes collected for building beautiful Churches as you say? If you then collect tithe for something scripture did not teach, are you not sinning? There was no mention in the bible that tithes produce was sold to build church. Are our fellow believing Christian pastors, bishops, etc today Levites? If not, then they are deceiving God and their Christian fellows. I can by this reason say that if you pay tithes base on Malachi, you are playing gamble with OT priesthood laws because Jesus had all blessings in his sacrifice for you.

They would take money from this poor old lady without a pause to question where the poor woman gets her money from. I used to pay tithes but I stopped doing so more than 5 years ago when I saw the opulent lifestyle of most pastors including where I used to pay my tithes - from gutters to riches in no time was this man of God. These days I give my tithes to any poor and needy person I come across who needs help. I urge you all to do likewise. You can even accumulate the money and give it to a needy person to set him/her up in business or trade. Christians, it's time to wake up.

These pastors preach one thing and do the opposite. I know of a pastor who drinks wine at home and in the comfort of his close associates but preaches that wine drinking is bad. Who are we fooling? Wake up Christians! We are perishing for lack of knowledge. We have ourselves to blame, not the pastors.

let me give you a quick history lesson that will show you that the African benefits nothing from the many christain schools and educational institutions but ignorance and an inferiority complex.

a quick look at any of the history books used in JSS/SSS schools and going all the way back to the history books of our previous O'level/A'level curriculum we are told about the story of the Anglican Church through its society for the propagation of the gospel and their efforts to train missionaries and evangelise populations of the gold coast, essentially our school history textbooks give no prominenece of place to our history through 5000 plus years of this earths existence, our history really begins when we are discovered by the europeans. however what is ommited is that the Anglican church and their society for the propagation of the were in fact bible wielding, Jesus christ salvation chanting slave traders, who not only bought Gold coast slaves with guns and alcohol, but also managed the slave dungeons at cape coast castle and owned various plantations in the carribean that these slaves were abused in. the most famous was the coddrington plantation which was famous for being the most brutal plantation in the carribean with slave life expectancy of three years?? how was this information kept out of our school history textbooks???? the colonial government included the anglican church on our education boards as is common with european christian education to help shape our colonial education and remove our history pre european contact which is considered heathen, and remove the dirty history of their participation and profit in the slave trade that will question their supposed morality and ability to teach a gospel of salvation. so ask yourself this question.

are you comfortable giving 10% of your income to religious organisations that have enslaved and abused your ancestors, brought guns and scnapps into our societies and accelerated the decimation of societies and communites through war, alcohol abuse etc during the slave trade period and beyond, and who has been involved in our educational system only to endorse a false and incomplete history of our history, their involvement in our societies, all the time selling this so called gospel of salvation???????? is learning english more important than learning the history of your origin? think again man.

There are at least 8 "pastors, prophets and one self appointed archbishop living in million dollar homes in the plush Trasacco Valley in Accra. These religious vampires so scare their congregation into paying not only the monthly tithes but apparently, various demands for so called offerings at every church meeting. Your mention of the infamous Popes of the 15th and 16 th century and their use of indulgences to fund their opulent lifestyle. Is also very appropriate. At least those popes encouraged major works of art to atone for their Misdeeds. The Reformation and Protestantism begun by Martin Luther as a result of the activities of the Popes inspired other religious ideologies in Calvinism which is often regarded as the bedrock of western civilisation. Sadly our bogus extortionate religious vampires have the entire African continent to harvest. There are now over 50,000 African churches peddling their tithing scams amongst Africans in Europe. Many churches teach that tithing 10% of one's income to the church is a part of obedience to God and a requirement in the New Testament, as well as the Old Testament. They love to quote Malachi 3:8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed me, but you say, wherein have we robbed you? In tithes and offerings." The truth is that when anyone does an in-depth study of the tithing issue, it will be found that the concept of "tithing" is very misunderstood, even from an Old Testament perspective. Many different authors have presented in-depth studies on tithing, covering all the issues in both the Old and New Testaments. While preachers love to make Christians think that "tithing" represents 10% of one's "income", it is easy to prove that in fact, tithes in the Old Testament involved several tithes, used for different purposes and that tithing is not at all what Christians have been led to believe.

Since there is more than one tithe spoken of in the Old Testament, for those who have never researched and studied this hot topic, it may come as a surprise to read this:

Deuteronomy 14:

Verse 22: "You shall truly TITHE all the increase of your SEED, THAT THE FIELD BRINGS FORTH year by year."
Verse 23: "And YOU SHALL EAT before the Lord your God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, THE TITHE OF YOUR CORN, of YOUR WINE, and of YOUR OIL, and the FIRSTLINGS OF YOUR HERDS and of YOUR FLOCKS; that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always."
Verse 24: "And if the way be too long for you, so that you are not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from you, which the Lord your God shall choose to set his name there, when the Lord your God has blessed you."
Verse 25: "Then you shall turn it (note: "it" refers to the tithe of the corn, the wine, the oil, the firstlings of the herds and flocks) into money, and bind up the money in your hand, and shall go unto the place which the Lord your God shall choose.
Verse 26: "And YOU shall bestow that money FOR WHATSOEVER YOUR SOUL LUSTETH (King James Version) after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever your soul desires: and you shall eat there before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household."
Do these verses not tell us, that this particular "tithe" was not money, but rather it was the "tithe" of corn, wine, oil, firstlings of the herd and flock? And was not this "tithe" used to EAT before the Lord and to be consumed by the individual and his family? Some sources believe there were three different tithes in the Old Testament. Some even say four tithes. Have you ever heard a preacher tell you that God in the Old Testament, told the Israelites to EAT (Deuteronomy 14:23) their tithes?

Jesus had this to say about tithes in Luke 11:42: "But woe unto you, Pharisees for YOU TITHE MINT and RUE and all manner of HERBS, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought you to have done, and not to leave the other undone." If tithes were paid on herbs, I suppose you would have to ask the question "Did everyone grow herbs?" What about carpenters, did they pay tithes on their lumber? What about iron workers, did they tithe on iron? What about tentmakers, did they pay tithes on their tents? Even in the Old Testament, tithes involved only certain items such as herbs and firstlings of the herds, but on many other things in life, there was no such thing as "tithes".

Another verse in the Old Testament that proves that "tithes" was something very different than what we have been led to believe by pastors and preachers of churches today, is Deuteronomy 26:12: "When you hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of your increase THE THIRD YEAR, WHICH IS THE YEAR OF TITHING, and HAVE GIVEN IT UNTO the Levite, THE STRANGER, THE FATHERLESS, and THE WIDOW, that they may eat within your gates, and be filled." Ever hear of giving "tithes" to strangers, the fatherless and the widows? Ever hear about the "third year, the year of tithing?" Probably not and that is because the preachers don't know the truth about tithing themselves.

A very good book that deals with the New Testament truth on tithing is: Tithing: Low-Realm, Obsolete & Defunct by Matthew E. Narramore (Copyright 2004) and can be read FREE on the Internet. It can also be purchased from the author at his website, or from Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Seed Sowers Christian Books Publishing, and from other book sources. Countless full length and in depth articles on the tithing issue inundate the Internet and can be easily located. Other authors have also published full length books on this important topic. However, if you happen to stumble across a "tithing" book by a prosperity gospel preacher, chances are you will not learn the truth about the false tithing doctrine.

Tithing and money are a constant source of spiritual abuse in the church world and basically for the reason that churchianity today insists on functioning as a business enterprise. Tithing is not only greatly misunderstood, it also causes great false fear in the lives of many.

Here is a quote I took off the Internet about the Mormon Church and their tithing policy: "Tithing is an important test of our personal righteousness." President Joseph F. Smith (1838-1918) said "By this principle it shall be known who is for the Kingdom of God and who is against it... By it shall be known whether we are faithful or unfaithful" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph F. Smith [1998], 276." Here are some astonishing notes from ex-Mormons about "tithing". The Mormon Church is worth tens of billions of dollars as a result of tithing and from what I have read about the Mormon Church, they do not disclose how the money is spent.

Tithing is one of the great false teachings in the world of churchianity, and money is one of the false god's of the church world.

The debate about Christians and tithes payment is stubbornly refusing to end any time soon. Tithes has a definition and for that matter those who pay their tithes know what they are doing and those who don't pay their tithes for reasons best known to them also know what they are about.

Religion is about belief and nothing else. There are people who hold the belief that tithes payment has helped them significantly in their marriages, businesses and what have you. It is their belief which nobody can take from them. Those who hold the belief that tithes payment is not acceptable to the Christian can also hold on to that belief without any challenge from any quarters. They should however, not impress upon others to follow their belief. Everybody must be in his or her lane.

If you are paying tithes today and you think everything is in vain, you can stop and see the difference. After all in certain life situations we come out with what is known as Trial and Error.

Those who are preaching against tithes are those who hold the opinion that pastors or men of God are the beneficiaries and for that matter must be discarded. But the truth must be told that apart from some few pastors in some One-man Churches who are living very fat on the tithes paid by their members, the greater no of pastors are poorly paid. At times it is through the benevolence of some church members that some of these pastors are able to pay the school fees of their wards.

I would like to end by making it abundantly clear to everyone that religion is about belief, and for that matter we must all follow our own belief without hampering the belief of others.

I have seen myself, and felt myself that at time where I refused to pay tithes business did not move as well as it could. But all along when I pay my tithe regular business pics up.

(Matthew 23:13). By prescribing their own doctrines, traditions and creeds, the Pharisees were actually hindering others from truly accepting God's rule in their lives. They had formulated their own standards of right and wrong. Much like today, where we are witnessing a casting off of New Testament moral, ethical and doctrinal standards in favor of the standards of men. Again, today's "experts" are doing the same thing; not entering themselves, nor do they permit others to enter "the kingdom of God." How seldom to men and women today appeal to the only sound standard of right and wrong; the word of God.

Blessings of God to believers can only be measured by believers. God's instructions cannot be reasonable to canal brains no matter your book no how. Noah was commanded by God to build a boat when there was no stream around, but with his faith he did and at the end of it all he and his family were all saved while knowledgeable and interlectuals perished. This is a simple instruction do it and do not be worried what the pastor or the man of God will use it for and see if God will not bless you.

I get it and i respect your opinions but guess what everything you have written it's just philosophical and mere thoughts. There isn't a single quote from the Bible to buttress your point and as the Bible said , my people shall perish because of lack of knowledge Prov 29:18.
Guys, you do not believe in anything simply bcos you've heard of it or rumored by many. Guess what, if you think u're been deceived then you are and it's almost a cinch you are.
