Is Martin's problem the residues of conflict that may arise or it is actually unconstitutional. If indeed it is unconstitutional then it should also not be possible to investigate a Presidents conduct, if it the matter of conflict, then where are we heading as a nation, because we fear to let the truth be told because of possible conflict.

There are many such tapes out there including that of the person who is calling for this case, Sir John. It is waste of time to investigate things like this without any evidence. Hammah just said in that tape that judges helped us, if she tell you that she meant the judges helped Ghana by making the right decision what will you say. Can you use that tape as evidence?

It has never been a secret that the Chief Justice Georgina Wood was elevated from obscurity to prominence following her masterful and shoddy investigation to coverup the complicity of some members of the Kuffour Regime from a major Cocaine scandal.

This was the same Chief Justice who opened the court houses on a national holiday (January 1, 2009) just to allow the NPP officials to file an injunction against the EC declaring the results of the 2008 election.

It is therefore not a surprise that she would once again kowtow to the whimps and caprices and tantrums of the NPP officials to reopen a case that was held openly for the whole world to see....doing so without any hard evidence or at least based on innuendos and loose assumptions in a secret and possibly doctored secret recording.

THE CHIEF JUSTICE IS RATHER BRINGING INTERGRITY OF THE SUPREME COURT AS A WHOLE INTO DISREPUTE....AND THIS IS INDEED NOT GOOD FOR OUR DEMOCRACY.

SHE MUST BE REMOVED!

Just as the CJ in her wisdom allowed live press coverage of the election petition, so too she has tolerated an exercise in futility to protect the integrity of the Judiciary which like other key State institutions, has come under diversionary attack by sour losers like the so-called 'sir john'. Coming from the sideline and having observed this debate on the subject, I believe solution as regards whether or not the C.J.'s appointment of an inquisition panel can only lie in the interpretation of the relevant constitutional provision by the law court. Some one (our prominent lawyers - where are they?)has to initiate this legal process or action. We need the "Gani Fawehinmi's" of Ghana to do this. Martin Amidu has just kicked the ball rolling - I like it. This must be seen as a 'moving forward crusade'.

Does he want to tell us that just because the independence of the judiciary is spelt out in the constitution, SC Judges may not be investigated for any misbehavior? Is accepting a bribe in office to influence a decision a crime? and if yes, are SC Judges exempted? Amidu sounds like wanting us to take it so.

It is unconstitutional to investigate the misconduct of Jerry Rawlings. Does it apply to all Presidents, as well as SC Judges, Attorney Generals, Police Bosses, and members of government cabinet? Where does the constitution draw the line?

Martin, why then are you fighting corruption in Ghana?

The constitution is the law of the land and must be applied with due diligence.

There is no proof that the judges took anything. Kufour whiles in power also stated that people should produce evidence to back their allegations. We do not have any evidence to back the tape and cannot go fishing for that evidence.

To record someone without their knowledge or without court order is unconstitutional and makes that tape inadmissible in court regardless of the contents.

What Vikky was alleged to have sAid might be true or a lie. Investigating it is very important and that is the purpose of the excercise. Ghana is not just NDC, NPP or the Supreme Court. The purpose of the court of law, particularly the Supreme Court, is to establish and uphold the truth. Knowing the truth allow the nation to stop the wrong action and so start the right one. Vikky is not just any Ghanaian but a minister. The CJ did the right thing. Please Martine stop the scare mongerig using war and security as cover. To me this is just a form of opportunism. is this a ploy for President Mahama to get you back after you have fallen out of favour with late President Mills? Let the committee do their job for the truth to be known. We want a government of Ghana base on truth than lies. The Judiciary or any institution in Ghana are not above the law. Independence of the judiciary or the so called higher justices, does not put them above the law. They are also Ghanaians and under the same law as any Ghanaian.

And who said such recorded materials are not enough as basis for evidence in court of law? If Mr. Amidu is claiming the recording of Vikky's words are illegal, will that not mean that the President relieving her of her duty illegal, since the leaked tape was based on which she was sacked?
What exactly is Martin Amidu trying to protect? On one hand, he seems to be advancing the illegitimacy of the leaked tape on Vikky. On another hand, he is defending the supremercy of the judiciary services. This same person is again pretending to be defending the supremacy of the superior judges. A careful reflection to me show Amidu trying to mislead Ghanaians into believing that probeing into an issue of national concern, as is against the Rule of Law. The rule of laws is about the truth and not being complacency. If a new development has surfaced to redirect the course of justice, shouldn't it be in everyone's interest to have probe into? How helpful is it to overlook an allegation of corrupting the most trusted members of out Supreme Court? If truly the person entrusted with the highest office of our land, did embarked on corrupting members of our Supreme Court to avert the course of justice, then every Ghanaian must take this serious. It is just strange Martin Amidu of all people, is the one condoning this.
Please Mr. Amidu or Templar, the legitimacy of the source of evidence is irrelevant in this case and squarely within the law. Tell me whether you will be encouraging the national security to investigate a rumour on drug being smuggled into Ghana or not? Will you say no to investigation because the source of the information is not official and legitimate enough. Please allow the CJ to do her job and keep your dogs away.

The Chief Justice is spot on by probing this allegation. The judiciary must be trusted by all. If we allow such allegations to linger on, the judiciary will lose the trust of the citizenry and that could be very detrimental. Imagine another election dispute in this country and one side says they don't trust the judiciary to mitigate. Imagine what could happen
All this Committee is doing is to find out the truth or otherwise of this allegation. If it is false, it restores our trust in the judiciary. If it is true those involved must be made to answer and that would also restore our trust in the judiciary. It is all a win-win situation. Like the Supreme Court election case itself, the judgement has been accepted by all in good faith and has put to death something that could have linger on for years.

My Dad used to say, you never have to defend the truth. So let's find out the truth in what Viki said. It is to the benefit of us the mortals not the political 'super immortals'.

We all know the chequered history of the election petition, and the suspicion surrounding the verdit. So, if an insider has had to gossip about what as an insider she has heard, do we push it under the carpet?

I think what the CJ and the JC have done is in the right direction, at least they will come out that the allegations are unprovable, and that ends the matter. Whether or not any of the Justices were 'seen' by President Mahama, is left to the day that we all will stand before the judgement seat of God. Those who will confess and repent, so much the better for them!

A country where a lot of people look down upon those who can't speak and write English language do you think such country can develop no wonder Ghana is a country with good resources but the citizens are mentally weak unable to think and reason as well, they are still slaves to the so-called Europeans. They are still colonized mentally and physically but the reason is that they don't know that they are still under colonization. So in s nutshell that is how illiteracy is defined in Ghana. Then one may ask that how about the countries who are using their own language to study are they illiterates? a country like France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Finland, Norway, China etc can we classify their education system as substandard because they are not using English language to teach in their institutions? Africans will always embraced everything from west and east without thinking deep and its side effect in the future and we hate our own things so tell me are we humans? We always lionize the oppressors and disowned ours and we called ourselves educational elites now listen to a proverb from Europeans to Africans “you can take a monkey from bush but you can't take bush from monkey" how are we going to interpret it? it's simple to Europeans, Africa is bush let's see how they describe Africa they use the word Sub-Saharan and the question is do we have sub-Europeans or sub-Asians or sub-Americans, etc look how they have cited Africa in a World map, Africa as a continent is always at the bottom of the World map, the question is why they didn't cite Europe, Asia, America and Australia at the bottom but only Africa think about it brothers and sisters, the proverb means an African a monkey can come to western or eastern country to study or do anything but because he/she is from Africa you can't take Africa mentality from him or her then the stereotype goes, they are less humans, they don't have food to eat, always fighting among themselves etc so why Africans shouldn't cling to their own and abandoned their stupid act but yet still Africans are upholding their language and their barbaric culture, 500 years we are still slaves so when are we going to emancipate ourselves as a people created by YHWH.
The time has come for Africans to come together as one people and put their difference away and unit as people it has been a long time in slavery and colonization. The time has come for Ghanaians to put away their difference and unit to develop their nation it has been a long time in slavery and colonization.

The justices that sat on the election petition came up with their verdict but other lawyers and justices disagreed with the verdict. So cudos to Martin for stating his position, he must challenge it in court. The constitution does not state that election petition can be appealed but Akufo Addo had the right to appeal the verdict but he did not. The CJ has the right to do what is right in sight of the law.

The vikileaks tape didn't detail any wrong doing on the part of the judges who handled the petition. Listening to that tape, you come to the conclusion it is only about a incontinent fluid-mouthed lady who just interests herself in frivolous gossips, as most of what she said wasn't veracious.

On the other hand what questions is she going to be asked at the commission? What exactly would be the accusation leveled against the judges? The dossier would be closed long before it even got started, however, do you sincerely believe if the judges should be bribed, Vicky would even be a person to know about it?

Finally, we heard NPP say most of the judges were Pro-NPP so how could all the 9 have been bribed to subvert the outcomes of the petition we all knew was one of a very bad faith since it was constituted on misconception/ misjudgement of what transpired during the elections?

NPP initially went with a folder full of accusations and abandoned virtually all one-by-one, with Bawumia becoming clearly demostrating first-class lying prowess, yet he didn't even know what happened in the strong room because it didn't inspire his fancy.

The judicial council may not have disciplinary power over the justices but the police and the courts have power to punish criminals. Let the police investigate, arrest and put before the courts whoever, if any, committed any crime.

Just to score cheap political points? What should Nana have done when there was no such allegation at the time. The 'Vickileaks' allegations hadn't come up at the time. If it had, that would have served as the basis for Nana to rubbish the court ruling. Now, way after the verdict, a whole deputy minister alleged that Oye Lithur played a key role in securing victory for NDC, because she met the judges prior to the election petition verdict. Is this an issue to be toyed with? Whether it's unlawful to secretly record someone's conversation or not, it's the substance of its content that matters. And, who told Martin that Nana isn't in favour of all these NPP's efforts to get to the root of the matter? Do you know what it means to him if the allegations turn out to be true? Question is, what would NDC have done if it was the Party at the receiving end like NPP today? Would people sit down with folded arms and say, oh, let's leave everything to God? Worse things would have been witnessed, including violence, for the whole world to know. And this same Martin Amidu, behaving like an innocent schoolboy, or perhaps a righteous man today, would have been the first to say that it would be good for NDC to seek redress in this same form. They all have the attitude of a chameleon.

My understanding is, the committee, was set up to determine whether or not any of her Supreme Court, justices was really compromised in the Election Appeal, as per Vicky's gossip.

Much as I would not want to duel on the constitutionality, of the probe I believe it is only fair that a public hearing be made to clear the honorable Judges from all the gossip that is going on.

There has been so much flak against Atuguba JSC and I strongly believe he would not mind to have such a committee set up to clear him.

From North to South, West to East, every tribe can boast of the 'Book Long' or intellectual prowers. The CJ, being the NPP lapdog that she is, her intellectual hollowness is being exposed by the day. She did well not to allow the hawks in the NPP to drag her into sitting on the Election Petition Case and committing the professional howler of the century. But she couldn't help herself, She allowed the NPP bulldogs to drag her by the nose into setting up this committee, which to all intents and purposes is constitutionally bankrupt. It is a veritable 'Spanish Inquisition', Ghanaian Judiciary style. To sell your intellectual professionalism in this shoddy manner does our Chief Justice no favours in exulted intellectual circles and debases our judicial system no end. But then, this has been her stock-in-trade. She will go down as one of the most if not the most innept CJ in the history of Ghana. She is appointed as the head of the Judiciary to safeguard the constitution and the Rule Of Law but has consistently sold her professional integrity to the dogs, squandered it on the alter of partisan politics.

The opposition parties filed their writ at the Supreme Court concerning election fraud. With the overwhelming evidence that was presented, the Justice William Atuguba gave a bogus and biased verdict that sent shockwaves across the country and around the world---do they know that the whole world was watching---with many scratching their heads in disbelief, on that fateful 29th day of August, and they [NDC] don't want to know what necessitated Justice Atuguba to announce that evil verdict although it's understood that the justices were divided in (5/4) opinion.

The NDC is known for their dubious and behind the scenes schemes, always wanting to bring divisions in the society, by indoctrinating the youth with their tribal agenda. And this is how it all get started! It's no wonder that the party's Gen. Secretary says there's no need for reforms at the EC when opposition parties are demanding electoral reforms must be done in order to rid our electoral system of fraud and cheating etc.

After the Supreme Court verdict many people both home and abroad started asking questions. Many questioned the constitution and the Supreme Court set up. There were rumours of "bribe-taking" and many others. The "Vickyleaks" thing has reinvigorated public demand for an investigation into the Supreme Court's election petition hearing and its resultant verdict. Now the NDC wants none of that! They wish court decision should go in their favour. We still remember the abduction and murder of those noble judges; the death of those noble people shouldn't be entertained anymore! Ghana is not NDC and NDC is not Ghana!

The "Vikiladks" probe is very important because no-one is above the law. It's criminal for any individual to use their position in govt. to influence any court case. The country has reached her development stage that we must allow institutions to function properly and independently.

If indeed there was any influence and if the truth is established, then anyone involved should be prosecuted; if John Mahama used his office to influence the verdict then he ought to be impeached. If we cannot face reality and always sweep truth under the carpet, then Ghana will continue to go in circles without achieving any progress.
