Taxes and prizes of Services are not irresponsibly increased just because money is needed to build say ,a School here or there.
So don't Stay in Ghana and think Subsidies is a Waste of money.
To be honest with you,African leaders especially Ghana Leaders, with exception of Kwame Nkrumah,Dr Hilla Limann both of CPP, and Kuffour of NPP, all other leadership aside from the 3 mentioned above, are an embarrassment to mankind, and Shame to the blackman.

We are allowing some professions to hold us to ransom and it is not right. If there is a decision to scrap allowances because we want to sanitize the system, why complain? Many nurses have not been fair to us. They troop out in their numbers for so-called "greener pastures" after receiving their training - plus the allowances, so it is time to review our stand. If the allowances have been scrapped, so be it!

We should not be emotional about this issue. In as much as we hold Prof Akosah in brief for using his office to amass wealth we should also consider his position on the issue of allowances for the nurses in training .Why did the ministry of Health Instute payment of allowances for the nurses in the first place.I believe a lot of factors were taken into consideration.I believe also that those factors continue to exist. If the reason for scrapping the allowance is merely due to financial constraint then it is flimsy.Professor Akosah as a pathologist does not intereact with nurses since most of his work is confined to the the morgue and surgical pathology department. Thus he does not see when student nurses are asked to go on night shifts when others were enjoying the warmth of their beds every night. As a pathologist he never experiences the inconeviences of adjusting once sleeping time and habbit every two weeks or so.If it is for lack of financial resources that the government is trying to eliminate the payment of allowances to the student nursses, then the president should consider scrapping allowances paid to parliamentarians, ministers , government funcionaries and all who benefit from allowances in addition to their wages and salaries which is more of a waste.

What a shame!. This is typical of the state of behaviour in Ghana where just adopt to telling lies and fabricate stories without any conscience of telling the truth. In Ghana today a liar, a fabricator, a violent person, the lawless, the indiscipline and those who drag the decency of our community into the mud and promote social decadence sadly, are those who seem to rule society. It is sad Kwame Adinkra Amo could not counteract or oppose Prof' Akosah's line of argument in an intelligent manner by applying simple logic to his views but instead Mr Ainkra Amo disgracefully stooped so low to fabricate stories in making hollow and nonsensical claims against Prof. Akosah. Even if Prof. Akosa and his generations were accorded with free education and allowances during their era, it is only the 'fool' who would maintain or argue that the Nation should continue paying allowances to nurses or doctors or whichever professionals even if she cannot afford it. Every progressive nation makes a continuous assessment of it social and economic strategies, policies and priorities the need of the people to maximise resources provide seamless services, help and support to the citizens and this is one of the areas Prof. Akosa is talking about to generate intellectual and intelligent debate. So Mr Amo, lies and innuendos would not watch. You have rather exposed your shallow minded. You cannot moot any intellectual or any sensible argument. Please Mr Amo, learn to show self-respect and decorum. Stop appealing to the yobs!. 'Adinkra is a cloth of wisdom but sadly this person, Amo sounds stupid

The outcome of the govt's plan to scrap allowances given to nursing students will be a disaster for the nursing profession in ghana. One only needs to look at the current cost of nurse education and the burden it places on families and basically by extrapolation know that less people will go into the profession, and those who are able to afford it will only do so for the future benefits they intend to reap and not for compassion reason. We now complain about rude , lets just wait until nurses go into the profession only to try and fleece the system

Who doesn't know Akosa used his time as director general of the Ghana Health service to amass wealth? This is no news. The guy has always been a crook!
Clueless gov't. How can a social democratic party behave like this?
Nurses and teacher are critical areas that must be toiled with. Dont scrap this allowance.
KWAME I NEVER KNEW YOU ARE SO SMALL MINDED.YOU NEVER TALKED ABOUT THE PROF.BEING CORRUPT UNTIL THE ISSUE OF ALLOWANCES.NOBODY IS GOING TO TAKE YOU SERIOUS.SAVE YOUR BREATH.
THE HONEY MOON IS OVER! Everybody is looking for something free from govt without looking to sacrifice a little. Time when these subsidies were put in place we were 8.5 million people. Now how many are we? How can Ghana provi ...

IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A CASE FOR MAINTAINING ALLOWANCE YOU COULD BUT YOUR PREMISE IS WRONG
INCLUDING THAT OF MINISTERS AND MP's. THE COUNTRY CANNOT AFFORD ALL THIS WASTE. Nursing and teaching are secure professions and they are privileged compared to others who do not even get a job.
Listen to me ! You need to travel outside and see. You don't have the slightest idea of the various subsidies and help available to people in the advanced Countries.Part of the taxes collected is used to help the poor weak an ...

I am not surprised that's why he seems to be defending the P(NDC)at all times. Greedy bastard. He talks like he is honest and knows everything.
Prof Akosah talks so much about Kwame Nkrumah and what he did for Ghana. What has Akosah done in his lifetime for prosperity to remember him in future. It is not for sure useless advise like this.
SUBSIDIES HAVE BEEN PART OF OUR LIFE AND WE ALL ENJOYED IT BUT IT IS TIME TO LET GO SO WE CAN HAVE RESOURCES FOR DEVELOPMENT.
so that we use our NATURAL RESOURCES FOR DEVELOPMENT instead of the LOANS,LOANS, LOANS. GHANA IS FOR ALL OF US, LET OUR NURSES ALSO ENJOY SUBSIDIES. Had the Gov't not loot us there would be more than enough money for developm ...

We ask for too many free things. Who is the provider? Even if it is God He will be tired! Let us learn to be a bit more responsible.
yes God keeps providing us, but we can also remember the way he went about it when He asked adam and eve to go out and work for what He gave them, no more free fruits in the garden for them.
You think someone used his position to amass wealth for himself just because he wants an allowance scraped off? Please spare us the trash. Prof. Badu Akosa is the most honest and selfless Ghanaian i have ever know. To me, he ...
