Whether the 10% cut is on basic salary or gross salary, the Fin Minister has said it will total GHc800,000 per month. You were an MP so you can calculate and deduce the salaries on which the cut was based. When GREEDY THIEFMAN, JOHN AGYEKUM KUFOUR, was in Mahama's position, what did he do? PC, you told us that even his MPs collected $5,000.00 to dash Ghana Telecom to vodafone. How much did the greedy thief receive? While Atta Mills did not collect perdiem, Thief Kufour gallivanted across the globe for 2 years and collected $2,190,000 as perdiem. Did he give anything out? PC, I think you should be fair. What the president has done may not be much BUT GREEDY THIEF KUFOUR DID NOT DO ANYTHING. IN THE CASE OF BUSIA AND AKUFO ADDO'S FATHER THEY PAID THEMSELVES 2 YEARS IN ADVANCE INSTEAD OF CUTTING, EVEN BY 1%. Please give credit where it is due.

“It is our plan to complete another 1,600 units of CHIPS compounds by the year 2016. This falls in line with a decision taken by myself and my Cabinet and other political appointees to voluntarily donate 10% of our salaries. Which part of this statement does Mr Appiah not understand? Mr Mahama said it is a voluntary donation. You cannot gift part of your gross salary unless it is allowed in law. You can do whatever you want with your net salary, this is clear from what Mr Mahama said. Common sense is not common or is it our lot to have this quality of politicians.

what is the quarantee that the 2% pay reduction being proposed by the president will go for the designated purpose and not for the payment of planned judgement debts.

10% of what amount is GH1,200 which we all know is the amount to be cut from his salary.? From my grade 4 math, the amount has to be GH12,000, which we all know is the president basic salary. This a simple math.

Rather, he is simply expressing his religious beliefs and how he sees himself as the man of God. He believes in the power of tithes. He has come to believe in the efficacy of tithes: that if you tithe you will handsomely be rewarded by the Almighty.
Hence the 10% executive pay cut, and the 2% pay cut by public sector employees - enough tithes to construct the 2000 the Community Health Programme Services (CHPS) bungalows in the rural areas to prevent maternity mortality, and promote neo-natal care - all good deeds the Lord will be pleased with.
The problem I have with the President on this issue is he hasn't really thought the consequences - the unintended consequences - of the pay cut; especially, encourage more females to have babies just to get the opportunity to stay in a nice bungalow.
I also see the pay cut as discouraging saving.

President Mahama lacks critical thinking. Look, you are being paid four times that of Kuffour and three times that of Mills so, what is this 10% gimmickry while keeping all the pecks or freebies that comes with the presidency?
You and your cabinet should be real and stop this political gimmick. If you and your cabinet means business, this is what you have to do to cut down real cost and save money.
1. REDUCE YOUR CABINET. Here, some will argue that the previous government did the same so, what is wrong with that. Now, why do we vote to change government? Do we vote to continue the status quo or do things in a different way? Our cabinet is too big which should be trimmed no matter what.
2. REMOVE ALL FREEBIES. The government should institute or put in place a measure that will let our politicians pay for their fuel, housing etc as they are not working for free. They should foot their bills like the average Ghanaian and that alone, will save millions.
The colonial mindset is depleting our treasury. In the advance democracies, government officials do not have the freebies that our government officials have. Imagine a nation where our budget is supported by donor nations while we give so much freebies to people who are not working for free. Make sense?
3. CORRUPTION SHOULD BE DEALT WITH. Our governments should do whatever to deal with the rampant corruption in the nation because it more serious than we think. Severe punishment should be given to anyone caught in the act no matter what. Failure to tackle corruption is like someone using a basket to fetch water from a stream to fill a tank. Impossible.
