The truth must be told, anokware John Mahama cannot do the job.
This guy came to the job offering no real vision for the nation, instead he only served up absolute nonsense - Ede be keke - which for some, loosely translates into just existing at the wheels, not knowing which direction to go. To add insult to injury, he is telling us that, like a car, he is only in the first gear in a four-year term, so we can expect to see a fourth gear only in the fourth year. To hear that allegory from a guy and a president who had been a vice-president for the previous four years, and claims that because of the ill-health of Atta Mess, he John Mahama was really the one in charge behind the scenes, then we have reasons to conclude nothing good or extraordinary can be expected that is different from what we have seen from the last four years. The value is going to be the same, and corruption is going to consume all of us under Mahama. Our people tell us, 'Edwa beso'a efiri anopa', to wit, one can gauge the prospects of a good market day from the signs the morning activities project. Right now the country is sinking fast from all reliable indicators. In the last four years, the cedi has depreciated a whole 100 percent under Mahama and Atta Mess. What other assurances are we waiting for? To be hit on the head with bricks?
Look, John Mahama is not cut for prime time, he does not know how, and all his protestations are excuses to cover incompetence and corruption in high places, of which him and his party are direct beneficiaries. What the fuck is Ede be keke? Nonsense!

BRIEF HISTORY OF WESTERN TOGOLAND.
German Suzerainty: a superior administration over an inferior one, was established over our people with the official arrival of the German Kaiser's (Emperor) ambassador. Dr Gushen Natchigal at Gbagba, and the signing of the treaty of amity and commerce with King Mlapa III on 5th July 1884 to lead us into modern civilization. The hallmark of the German administration was hard work for he benefit of all, not subjugation.
WesternTogoland, was part German Colony in West Africa. (Fig. 1) covering an area of 34,000 km2, bigger than 57 recognized countries in the world today. The Country comprised of many ethnic groups like; Kusasis, Busanga, Mamprusis, Kokombas, Bimobas, Kyokosy, Dagombas, Gonjas, Nanumbas, in the North and in the South; Adeles, Buem, Adjuati, Ntrubu, Tapa, Pai Akrosu, Nchumuru, Karachi and Ewes.
This peaceful country in West Africa was invaded by the Forces of Britain and France when the First World War broke out in Europe on the 27th August, 1914.
The French Government used “policy of assimilation” to administer Eastern Togoland, (East Togo as part of France and the people as nationals of France). The British however, administered the Western Togoland side by side with her colony, the Gold Coast under the Governorship system.
The forces of these two countries, otherwise known as the Allied forces, succeeded to dislodge the Germans from Togoland which was shared into two with the Eastern half going to France and the Western half, having its boundary with Ghana, going to the British for their administration as mandated Territories under the auspices of the League of Nations.
The mandate agreement, under which all territories seized from the Germans were administered, was changed to the Trusteeship in 1946 when the United Nations replaced the League of Nations. Thus, the Trusteeship Council became totally responsible and a watch dog and monitored the performance of the British and the French Governments’ administration of the West and East Togoland.
As far as Western Togoland was concerned, the League of Nations was fair by the rules imposed for the establishments of a peaceful Modern State. What was initiated in 1920 later became the sublime UN. Principle (1946)'' to promote the political, economic, social and educational program advancement of the inhabitants of the Trust Territories and their progressive development towards Self-Government or Independence'' (Please see article76(b) of the UN charter) Both organizations intended the Trust Territories to be administered as separate entities, not in the class of the Gold Coast or Dahomey (BENIN).Thus, France always kept French Togo from the activities of Dahomey (Benin). There was the firm consensus of opinion in Europe and in the UN that each of the split Togoland was already a sovereign state. The citizens of the Republic of Togo must be grateful to France for doing an honest job there from start to finish. What did Britain do with its side of Togoland? Right from August 1914 British Togoland was ruled by the Governor in Accra, and there was no demarcation between the two countries as far as the administration was concerned. The British rule of the Gold Coast (GHANA) had so much influence over the mentality of the citizens of Togoland that they developed hatred for their own country. The country and its people had been stolen.
But why did Britain flout the rules with so much impunity? Did the human rights of the people of Togoland mean anything to them? Why this calculated vengeance against British Togoland? In what way did this small country in West Africa upset Britain to incur their wrath so much?
In 1952 the Trans-Volta Togoland region was created in an area where Ewe was spoken on both sides of the border (the South-East), and this act obliterated the international boundary. British Togoland became an extended Gold Coast. Mr.S.G Antor, Mr.Odame and Mr.Allasan Chambas the political leaders of Western Togoland were livid about all the flagrant violations of Togolands rights. Mr.S.G Antor fought tooth and nail on the only platform provided by the British i.e. the parliament of the Gold Coast. But he was always treated with contempt; no one took any notice of his case until Dr. Nkrumah jailed him without trial the governor just kept mute.
Earlier by 1956 Britain had brought in the plebiscite to test whether Togoland should achieve independence or remain part of Ghana, as second rate citizens. Togoland also had the choice to remain a Trust Territory under U.N's authority but this option was concealed from the public, why? Other questions;
1)Why was this exercise necessary for country that was already a free country?
2)Was it done as a further insult to the citizens of Togoland?
3)Why was Britain the only country involved in the organizations of the plebiscite?
4)Why did the Governor of the Gold Coast, Sir Arden Clarke participate in the campaign for annexation to Ghana?
5)When two countries were going to be merged, why was there no test of opinion in the Gold Coast to see the strength of their willingness to accept or equally share their rights with Togoland?
6)By not holding the plebiscite in the Gold Coast. The image of the people of Togoland had been slurred, why?
7)Where are the documents showing the two countries, Togoland and Ghana, had become a single nation?
In 1923 the North of Togoland was administered by Tamale, the capital of the northern territories of the Gold Coast, and Southern Togoland went under Koforidua, capital of the Eastern province of the Gold Coast.
1)Where was the capital for Togoland?
2)Was the split up the preparations for Togoland's independence/
3)As a nation being prepared for self-rule was there any arrangement for its security system?
4)Was there the ''BANK OF TOGOLAND'' around which to develop the economy of Togoland?
It has been obvious that 43years of British rule in Togoland got it harnessed and hauled into Ghana. So it did not matter if not, they have always provided a steady labor supply. But a one partner gets all the benefit or the advantage, the other partner remains the permanent loser Togoland is asking the world if this is not the truth?
The French Government used “policy of assimilation” to administer Eastern Togoland, (East Togo as part of France and the people as nationals of France). The British however, administered Western Togoland from her Colony, the Gold Coast under the Governorship system.
Unlike German South West Africa (Namibia) and Eritrea which were placed under South Africa and Ethiopia respectively then for their administration, Western Togoland was not placed under the Gold Coast as administrators because the Gold Coast was still then a colony to the British.
When Nkrumah intensified his campaign for independence in the late 1940’s and the early 1950’s the British Government lost concentration and became jittery. They appointed him to be in charge of government business in 1951 in the Gold Coast and made him the Prime Minister in 1952.
Meanwhile the debate on the future of Western Togoland was raging on in the United Nations with the British government biased demonstration and decision to integrates Western Togoland into independent Gold Coast.
The United Kingdom went further to suggest that a Plebiscite be held in the Trust territory to determine the wishes of the people.
In accepting this proposal the United Nations noted the statement made by the Government of United Kingdom in resolution 860 (IX) of 14th December 1954 that: “ the Gold Coast will attain independence in the nearest future and that, in consequence, it will be impossible thereafter for Togoland under British administration to be administered as at present’’ for United Nations.
This was the appropriate time that United Nations should have appointed another Administering Authority under article 81 of United Nations Charter; or established an independent political institutions for Western Togoland under article 76b of United Nations Charter knowing very well that the intension of United Kingdom was illegal integration of the Trust Territory of Western Togoland in to her Colony the Gold Coast. Because United Kingdom administered WesternTogoland from the Gold Coast but not as part of independent Gold Coast.
United Nations General Assembly noting the opinion of the Trusteeship Council and the special report of the visiting mission, at its 556 plenary session of 15th December 1955 in regard to the statement made by the Government of United Kingdom, recommend that a plebiscite to be held to ascertain the decision of the majority of the people of the Trust Territory of Togoland in respect of:
a) The Union of their territory with an independent Gold Coast or b) Separation of Togoland under British administration from Gold Coast and its continuance under trusteeship pending the ultimate determination of its political future.
Though United Nation's decision to unite The Trust Territory of Togoland to Ghana, was unconstitutional and contradicted its own Charter article 76. For the first time in the history of United Nations, the plebiscite was held in Western Togoland on the 9th May 1956 after massive protests of the people against United Nations decision.
The South voted massively for separation. However, the ‘union’ won with a margin of 58%-42%. The conduct of the plebiscite with the British being the United Nations plebiscite organizer and administrator left a lot to be desired.
British officials themselves went round to urge the people to vote for option (a) ‘union’. While Kwame Nkrumah used wealth, as party in government in the Gold Coast, to influence the people of Togoland to union with Ghana.
British and the Gold Coast governments activities in WesternTogoland were gross violation of international Agreement and constitute conflict of interest were over looked by the Trusteeship Council.
A Union where each of the two Countries Ghana and Western Togoland would have their individual identity as a nation with separate administering authority.
At its 619th plenary meeting on 13th December 1956, the United Nations Organization in resolution 1044(XI) paragraph I accepted the results of the plebiscite and approved the union of the territory of Togoland under British administration with the independent Gold Coast now Ghana. The United Nations Organization accordingly invited the administering authority-Britain, to take such steps as are necessary to this end. In other words, they must see to administer the “union”.
In paragraph 3 of this very resolution, the United Nations Organization again charged the government of United Kingdom to notify the United Nations Organization Secretary General as soon as the union of the territory of Togoland under British administration with the independent Gold Coast had been effected.
The United Kingdom indeed did notify the United Nations Secretary General under Document T/1301 in a letter dated 6thMarch,1957, but by her unique political design, did not comply with the said paragraph. The fact is that the United Kingdom government did not take any steps as an administering authority to see to the administration or manifestation of this “UNION” of which the United Nations expresses its approval at its “619th plenary meeting on 13th December 1956.
The United Kingdom aided by the United Nations thus succeeded to create a big political vacuum giving enormous advantage to Independent Gold Coast (Ghana) to annexed Western Togoland.
As already spoken about, the interpretation of the plebiscite result which favored ‘union’ did not go well with the people of Southern Togoland as they felt cheated. The interpretation was not in accordance with the four unit formula recommended by visiting mission in their special report that each section of Western Togoland should determine its own destiny. For that matter, Southern Togolanders decided to demonstrate their unpleasantness to union with Ghana in their Country. 6th March 1957, Ghanaian President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah backed by British Government, took advantage of the political vacuum in Togoland to deploy troops to suppress the vast protest in the whole Western Togoland, especially, in the South. Many protesters were killed by Ghanaian Soldiers in the course of defending themselves in the "Ablode War". Those who survived the killings including our prominent Chiefs, fathers, mothers and relatives escaped the tragedy into exile in EasternTogoland (Republic of Togo),Liberia, Benin and Nigeria. Some returned home ill after Nkrumah was overthrown. Many died over there and many are missing till date.
This vacuum again makes it possible for Ghana to enslave the people of Western / British Togoland Finally. This very situation empowers the Independent state of Ghana to become the first Black African Nation to colonize a FELLOW LEGITIMATE African Country, Western Togoland as we can see it today.
Today, the former Trust Territory, Togoland under the United Kingdom's administration, supposed to be in Union with Independent State of Ghana is no more on the map of West Africa or Africa. It has been gerrymandered by Ghana and completely obliterated from the map of the world.
Western Togoland Assembly feel bitter about the way United Nations and the British government belittled the people and destroyed the future of Western Togoland. Western Togoland still had a good chance of becoming a Sovereign State because the majority of her people voted for a “union” and not for annexation or unification as suggested in resolution 860(IX) of 14th December 1954.
APPEAL
We plead with the International Community, severally and individually for a closer collaboration, with the Western Togoland Assembly to enable it successfully get out of its struggles to end Ghana’s domination and colonization of Western Togoland.
CONCLUSION
Our inherent dignity as a people had been trampled down by Great Britain and her ally, independent Gold Coast (Ghana) collectively since 1914. We want our dignity restored unconditionally without further delay.
It is true and can be proven without prejudice that Western Togoland which was previously on the World Map, is now completely wiped out from the face of the world as the result of Ghana’s continuous and systematic gerrymandering of the territory that the British government left behind.
The Trust Territory, of Togoland under the United Kingdom administration, now referred to as Western Togoland, must be FREE. The time is now.
We believed that United Nations did not run out of words to state type of relationship "union" that should exist between Togoland and Ghana. And all over the world, unions are formed based on MOUs and Constitution so clear this not how union is formed between two sovereign states.
We also believed that, the proposed union for Togoland and Ghana had exhausted its usefulness after many years in dilemma. Union today, is tantamount to political suicide for WesternTogoland, and we advice that no one should opt for it.
We expect Ghana to adopt pragmatic steps in finding a lasting solution to this recurring problem for her withdrawal from the said territory once and for all.
Right from the time of the league of nations (1920-1946), the fair directives were laid down to protect the trusteeships. They were not to be usurped in any way but administer them in a way that prepared them for independence. The people, their land and their natural resources were unambiguously protected against the interests of the administering authorities.
The UN took over in 1946 and upheld the same principles governing the Trust Territories with emphasis on their education and peaceful co-existence for all nations.
At a time when the authorities in South Africa resorted to acting ultra vires in Namibia, the UN did not hesitate to put them right, of course, the UN also rightly provided many useful resolutions to steer the trusteeships to full self governing as already mentioned in the text.
By late 1954, it was obvious to the UN that Britain had no intentions of granting independence to British Togoland but to maneuver a ploy by the plebiscite that got British Togoland incorporated by Ghana.
1. Was there ever test of public opinion in the Gold Coast or Ghana as to whether the citizens of that country wanted to share their country with a neighbor?
2. Did t UN make any effort to obtain a copy of the instruments of the merger, knowing that the two countries differed in size, population, distribution of natural resources, culture etc.
3. Did the UN just acquiesce to Britain to do a bunk to its own Trust Territory, Togoland that it once hungered for?
4. Was British Togoland the originator of the first World War to deserve such a heavy punishment meted out to her by her own colonial master, a colony the second time?
Let it be clear to Britain and the UN that with unvarnished, singular voice, the citizens of British (West Togoland) are crying for their liberation and democracy now.
