A budget deficit can never be the same as an infrastructure deficit. If Franklin Cudjoe says the World Bank report talks about a budget deficit of $10 million dollars but then when he is challenged to produce this report, he ends up producing a report that refers to an infrastructure deficit of $2.5 million, then the honourable thing for Franklin to do was for him to apologize to viewers else he has damaged his own credibility beyond repair.

In any case, I don't care a hoot about any World Bank report. Was it not the same World Bank that wrongly advised the Rawlings regime to sell almost all our state assets? Is it not true that this has proven to be more of a ploy to collapse our capacity to manufacture or industrialise so that we will continue to import goods from these weatern countries? If IMANI and other stomach tink tanks were not self-serving organisations, they would not be straining every nerve in them to hang onto these useless reports from the West to fool anybody even if what he is saying was actually contained in such a report.

The Chinese refused to listen to the World Bank and other such questionable western institutions in the way they managed their economy. Instead, they relied on the advice of their own patriotic economists and today, the evidence is there for all to see whether reliance on the reports, advice and recommendations of these neocolonial institutions will do any country any good. IMANI Ghana is a shamefully self-serving betrayal called a tink tank!!!

When I came to Europe 28 years ago, one of the first things I did when I started working was to see a dentist to close the gap in my two front teeth. The kind young woman told me she could close it all but it would leave the two teeth too big especially in relation with the others. So I agree that she should leave a small gap so also that those people who knew me before would still be able to recognise it. She did a wonderful job and I am no longer too ashamed of my dentures when I laugh - ha ha haaa...

Many of us born long ago in Ghana had never been to a dentist when we were growing up. We left our dentures to grow naturally - Nyame bekyere. If you were lucky, you got good teeth, if not a big gap is left in the front. In Europe/America, everybody has Pepsodent teeth because they never allow the teeth to grow "anyhowly".

Fortunately, these days in Ghana, at least the middle class families send their children to dentists at an early age and I saw children wearing braces. That's good - some improvement in Kojokrom.

The technical name for a gap between the teeth is diastema. In the very old days, a slight diastema was regarded as a mark of beauty especially in a woman. Chaucer's Wife of Bath wore it proudly in the Canterbury Tales. Today, no one wants a gap in the teeth - not even Africans.

Some celebrities who have a slight diastema today include Madonna, Eddie Murphy and Marie Fredrikson (the singer in the now defunct Roxette - remember the song It Must Have Been Love, but it's over now in the movie PRETTY WOMAN featuring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts who has an unusual and super-perfect teeth that she flashes so often). It is rare for singers to have diastema. It shows when they perform publicly.

British born actor, Terry-Thomas (died 1990), is the most famous celebrity with a huge diastema. The gap between his front teeth measured 8.5 mm (or 1?3-inch for our US readers). That is huge...

What should our Deputy Minister do? He can have it closed a bit. But since people have already known him as gap-toothed, it may be "something" for him to suddenly appear in public with little or no gap.

I thought It was a recent (2013) report. These noise makers must be told the truth. They create a lot of discontent in the system and make our governments loose track. Annually, the GoG spends over US2bn on infrastructure, check the budgets and appropriation bills. What we still have not got right is ensuring value for money and prioritizing the spendings in areas that engineer growth and increase productivity. If that if Franklyn Cudjoe's argument I have no issue, but to use an old report to castigate a government is out of order.
