How can he claim because some so called Senior Journalist have found no corruption in Rawlings administration so there was none. Abolute nonsense. When Rawlings himself was questioned sometime back how he was financing his Children education abroad he said even if you cut-off his head he won't say it, he was later on pressurised and he said friend were financing his children education for him. If Rawlings was genuinely financing his children education he would have had no problem answering that question. Rawlings could not have formed and financed a party called NDC and go ahead to win elections if he was not corrupt. Can Rawlings today look in the faces of well meaning Ghanaians and tell us how he financed the NDC and turned himself from military ruler to a democratic one. A party Chairman Obed Asamoah could at that time keep millions of cedis under his bed only to be stolen. The so called account 48 what happened to it. If Rawlings regime was not corrupt how come a number of his ministers were jailed.

From the furnishing of his home with plane seats to the one man one house policy, to his reason for becoming the leader of the coup gang which overthrew two elected governments. We shall also check the killing and burning of the 3 judges and properties which were forfeited and unaccounted for during his time. not forgeting Tsikata and the rest who were imprisoned after his term for various offences.

The '1992 constitution' doesn't stamped out corruption but rather gave politicians the tools and mandate to loot the national coffers. Why should a constitution have a provision which caters for MP'S and Ministers to be provided with housing,fleet of vehicles and sizable ex-gratia when voted in or retired or voted out of office? This is a license to manipulate the system to grab every asset of the state.
These provisions needed to be amended immediately to avert a national crisis, because it is the legal way for anyone in government to amass wealth. When this happens the subordinates also follow suit.
An MP shouldn't serve as a minister simultaneously. it is like being the jurist, the prosecutor and the judge at the same time. An amendment to the constitution is imminent.
The fish always starts to rot from the head, so when these measures are resolved corruption will start to go down because it will bring transparency and there will be sunlight on every dealings due to the separation of duty.

This Rawlings guys is the worse that ever happened to Ghana. The winner takes all politics, the abuse of power, the import oriented economy with no manufacturing base, high interest rate and inflation, and high unemployment rate can all be traced back to his administration. That is the legacy this notorious guy left in Ghana.

The constitution itself was cynically drafted to make him supreme. That is why power was centralized to give the president untold powers, undeserving of any leader in a progressive society.

The implications of such an autocratic constitution is that it leads to a situation where the whole country suffers when the central government is not performing because the local government has little or no room to change its cause of development as it has to rely solely on the central government for funds to develop.

Furthermore, a salient ingredient of this autocratic constitution is that peoples will are trampled upon in every election. A critical example of why I mean this constitution is totalitarian is taking a look at a region like volta, or if you want ashanti. Volta normally votes against the NPP as a party they do not like, but their will is painfully denied because the constitution allows the president from the NPP to impose municipal executives to rule over them. The same is the case for the ashanti region. If this is what democracy is about then I wonder where we are going as a country?

I have always read your submissions and found you for the most part credible, but you have just passed beside a conspicuous veracity.

JJ's problem, as I have always maintained, was overestimating the intelligence of Ghanaians: We aren't intelligent at all. He should never have bowed to Western pressure for democracy in Ghana. He understood this later but it was too late.

Ghanaians, and for that matter, the rest of Africa deserve the cane every sunrise to be objective and to function well. But do you find it normal to have someone stand behind you with the cane to behave? JJ's government was corrupt.

ITEM: THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN CORRUPTION IN GHANA, AND IT WILL NEVER STOP UNLESS THE LAWS ARE FUNCTIONING, which they will not because there's no one to enforce them.

Later, the so called unwanted bougoursies seized positions. I remember people like Tsatsu, Yaw Graham and others indoctrinating us to defend the revolution against any counter revolt. And the DIC(Diversified Implementation Committee ) was instituted and implemented, Mrs. Rawlings was a beneficiary. What a conflict of interest. Now you are telling Ghanaians that Rawlings government was without corruption. Corruption is not only financial misappropriation but also using power to deceive and manipulate opportunities to your cronies. Therefore, as far as I know Rawlings is corrupt and must be executed just like Kutu Acheampong, Afrifa , Utuka, Amedume and Yaw Boakye who did not deserve death as far as corruption is concerned. Amedume for instance owed only a bank 50,000 cedis as a loan supposed to paid and was executed because of using his office to benefit it. What about Rawlings himself who used his office as the head of state and made sure the Nsawam cannery division and GNTC bottles of GIHOC division being sold to her own wife. To me the revolution is useless because that has even aggravated corruption in Ghana. Because during the military rule of Rawlings, there was a culture of silence there was no freedom of press to disclose so many fraudulent activities going on and even there was a separate GNPC account from the consolidated fund controlled by Tsasu tsikata that was diverted without any knowledge. Where was accountability and checks and balances as prevailing today's democratic dispensation which is even worse. Now Rawlings lives in affluence and you tell me there was no corruption. Ask Ahwoi brothers and E.T Mensah and others in those days and see how they have benefited from the Rawlings regime and now billioneers. The indemnity clause in the constitution protecting the corrupt regime must be scrapped out immediately to stop talking garbish.
